Don't worry about the practice tests before 1997, the questions in those tests are used for the problem sets in the CC. I would focus on completing the course first, you don't have to do every problem set in every section. Once you have a good grasp of the concepts, start taking the practice tests.

Great explanation JY, this question doesn't seem too hard when you know what to look for

Struggling with Final Problem Sets in CC

I'm working my through the Ultimate+ package of the CC and I'm learning a lot so far. In LR, I've been doing all of the available practice questions before moving on and I find that I do well in the beginning but end up getting completely demoralized in the final few sets of the section. For example, I worked my way through all of Necessary Assumption and was going -1 at the worst until practice set 16 and for the final few sets, I was struggling to even go -3. Is this something other people have experienced when they went through the CC for the first time? Do you think this is a product of not the knowing the information well enough or is it because some of these sets require doing five back to back level 4 or 5 questions at once that makes them more difficult than they would be on a PT?

I started studying in July and took my first non-diagnostic practice test in February (with a 2.5 month break in between). I scored a 163 and have improved since then. My diagnostic was a 150 as well. I consistently score -0 on LG so I'm still working to get my LR and RC up. This is purely anecdotal, and it may take others a longer or shorter amount of time, but I think it is definitely realistic to get from your diagnostic to a 160 in less than a year if you put in the work.
