Hey so as the title says, I'm looking for a study partner.

I ask for the higher score because I think it'd be nice to study with someone that has a better understanding than you. This doesn't necessarily mean I am looking for a free tutor or something though - I've actually got a tutor from TLS I'll be working with soon (and have worked with in the past). I've been studying for a while now, my last PT was 156 and this was months ago, during my school semester. I studied a lot during my last summer and into my school semester a bit (wanted to take in december) but didn't quite get the score I wanted on PT's so didn't bother writing in addition to getting caught up with school work that took precedent over LSAT studying so I did what I could to maintain.

I am again however, hoping to write in december. I think this time will be a lot better for me since I don't have to spend a most of my time figuring out what the hell I was doing in the first place, and can spend these months drilling - which is where the partner comes in. I think it'd be good for things such as LR (over skype) or discussing general strategies for the test.

If anyone scoring well would be interested, just reply below.

Hey Danielle, I had, and kinda have the same problem now.

My suggestion would be , perhaps when doing some timed sections, you should make the time constraints a litter looser on yourself? Make a section 45 minutes for LR instead of 35. see how you do.

See when you are drilling / blind reviewing if you are making unnecessary steps in your reasoning process that is making you waste time and in turn making your LR scores way worse when timed. for example, have you ever taken forever to get a question, then it finally clicked for you? when that happens, think of all the stuff you were thinking was important was before that actaully wasn't , try to find out why you were thinking that, and try to eliminate that from your reasoning

Another thing that helped me was just honestly stopping every once in a while during an lr section, closing my eyes, and taking 2-3 deep breaths to re-focus.

good luck!

Katherine ,

I mean I am making a lot of errors - I cannot pin point whether or not it is the order of the sections, that doesn't seem to make a difference because my last section was my best (reading comp) and one of the LR's was my worst and it was the very first section. Not sure whats goin on here! Its been inconsistent like that for most of my PT's

I'll have PT's where I'll bomb a games section, and do pretty good on all the others.

I'll have a PT where I bomb reading comp, and the other sections go not bad

I'll have a pt where I bomb an LR sect and do MEH on games, but have a good RC and other LR sect

Almost all of my PT's lately have been like this, I cannot put a full PT together. I'll do good on some sections, bad on others, and it just varies from section to section per PT to PT. anyone else having this issue?

Question about the syllabus

Wondering for the LR, if J.Y. suggests us doing them (IE: drilling them) in the order they are given in the syllabus, due to their nature of building on one another? Or am I wrong in this thinking?

when making multiple hypotheticals like he often does in the videos, when I am using pencil and paper do I make these two "Main" diagrams with the 2 hypothetical situations (IE: P must go in either spot 3 or spot 1), then erase when I am done with a certain hypo for a question? I hope I am clear, I think i worded this terribly

I've got the LSAT trainer Nilesh S, which I think does a good job of improving RC. I'll need to give it another read though, admittedly I probably missed some important things for the RC section. I appreciate the response and I'll begin taking some sections out of the earlier PT's and doing them1

atleast you have games down!

Hey a little background info for me on my LSAT life

Started studying in May - May and June were mainly LG stuff ,and I wasn't studying properly really. I started studying properly in June, and July is almost done now. I diagnostic at 140, so In about 2.5 months I made a 10 point jump.

My breakdown was about : RC - 15, LR:13, LR 15, LG 14 (these are the amounts I got correct)

I also feel I did not perform as good as I could have today, I felt really tired and not focused but was anxious to see where I was at. I think I made some dumb mistakes here and there that probably cost me a few points. For example, one of the questions I was looking over said only 1% chose the answer I picked, which was wrong. This tells me its a really dumb error on my part, and this was in LR which is usually my best section.

What is everyones opinion? My goal is to get LG's down to at least just -3, but preferably to -0. LR, strangely, didn't show much improvement although I have been drilling it a lot lately which kinda of sucks. Hoping to get that score up as well.

nice and affordable, thank you!

First of all, I'd like to apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask this, but in the lesson J.Y. said to ask someone who knows more than you, or your instructor so here I am.

I did the first LR section (section 1) of PT 7.

Actual timed go: 14/25

Blind Review: 20/25 (very happy! )

However, I got 5 where I spent a ton of time trying to figure it out, and got the wrong answer still. Some were I picked the wrong answer initially, and also picked a wrong answer to switch to.

They are: 3, 4 , 7 , 10 , 23.

Would be extremely happy if someone could help me through these questions - and how you figured them out.

Thanks everyone in advance!

Take care. KY

Jonathan , that would be great, if you could make it similar to like J.Y. has done in the course for some of the LR explanations he provides, that would be great.

LG help please somebody!

I feel kind of hopeless on LG. I've improved since I've been studying, but I figured after a few months I'd have them down, but its not the case. I still get trouble with some double layered sequencing games, and I havent really done much grouping yet. I do the games - watch the 7 sage video - memorize the inferences through printing a bunch of copies out. I duno what to do now. I practice them for hours a day and I feel like I am not gaining much progress on them. (I have both the LGB and MLG)

When you are working through it untimed, an issue you may be having is you are taking an inefficient route to the correct answer, even though you may get there quite often in blind review judging from the 167. So, when you blind review, and get it correct, try and remember how you convinced yourself it was the right answer in the first place. Then, ask yourself, how did I just reason my way through to the right answer - and more importantly how can I make this whole process faster? If you're taking 5 unnecessary steps in solving the question, but still hitting the right steps, you may as well be doing them in correct since this test is so strictly timed. Be aware when you do unnecessary steps in your analysis process and work to fix them. My last pt was 156 so we are quite similar (and I blind review at about 165) and this is the suggestions I've got from my tutor and I do believe it works. Let me know how things go

I'm guessing the advice you'll get if you want to apply for this cycle is focus on games. They seem to be the easiest points to pick up (not for me). great RC scores btw, please let me know how you did that. If you think of it as you're losing like 10~11 pts on LR , you could try to tighten up there as well

JY I agree, I love the trainer. I wish I had gone with the trainer exclusively for all the sections of the LSAT, to be honest. J.Y. now that you're here though, lets hear your opinion on the thread?!

hey again hopeful.

yeah I have big differences sometimes. One pt was a 145 and I got 165 in BR

My other was 149 and a 160 BR

other was 151 to 160 BR, so yeah I would say its normal

Thats just reviewing, but I'll blind review ALL the questions. You could blind review just using the ones you've circled during the PT you thought you got wrong as well though, may cut some of the time down for review.

i think the equivalent for LR that JY mentioned is to cut out wrong LR answers and keep them in a bag, look at them whenever you have free time, and once you fully explain why its right / answers are wrong, get rid of this

I am no high scorer (in the 150's) , but I take a really long time. maybe even over an hour sometimes. I know for me to BR a test it takes literally 5++ hours.

Hey Erict. Apply BR to all sections. Just take as much time as you think it takes you to get the right answer - just like in LR

what books do you have for reading comp? I think the trainer is probably the best RC book.

also google, "voyagers reading comp tips" should take you to a thread on TLS which many people said helped their reading comp scores.

i think it may be endurance . I had this exact problem but I've equaled it out a bit. don't just chalk it up to endurance though, review wrong answers thoroughly.

LR sections have been pretty consistent on PT's. RC ranges from 15-18, games is a diff story though. ranges from like 8-17

Okay guys so basically, I wrote a pt a few weeks ago only to get a 149. So I've drilled a ton in the meantime both in LG, some rc, and lots of LR. I take one today, and I got a 145 somehow. Misread a rule on a LG, crashed and burned so badly on RC. Did terribly. However, I've been BR'ing my test, without like at the answers as we are told here, and I've been adding in the BR'ed sections throughout the day.

So, I've got my 145 from todays pt, but with my BR im up to 156 and I've still yet to do my RC BR section (which I got like 9-10 right on - didnt even make it to the last passage at all ran out of time)

i'm hoping I'll end up at atleast 160 when I finish up my BR of this PT fully tomorrow morning, but I guess I've just gotta ask: What does this really mean for me? It felt like a punch in the stomach when I got such a low score back after I've put in so much careful work, but at the same time I feel like its so unrepresentative of what I'm capable of, even with my given skill at this moment. The BR kind of just made me think this more.. but what do you guys think?

Is it possible I'm just awful with timing but my fundamental skills are pretty solid?
