Damn. I guessed at B originally but then second-guessed myself and chose D while blind reviewing. Time to hear why I was right before.

I originally chose B however, I see why it's wrong. B increases some people's happiness but does not increase the happiness of other people. However, this still is an overall increase in happiness. The other people are just neutral.

D is right because it mentions that there are unhappy people, meaning that net happiness was detracted from, therefore destroying the support for the argument that the politician makes.

I misread this one so fucking hard, that I totally glossed over "Beauty is often to be subjective. This notion is false." Irritates me.

I see why C is correct. It states that what we find beautiful is influenced by past cultures. In essence, it is not just culture from which our idea of beauty comes from, there is something consistent that we find beautiful. Therefore, if our idea of beauty differed from previous cultures, then it could be argued that beauty is subjective since the idea of it has changed, but seeing as the idea of beauty has not changed (since we are influenced by previous cultures) it could be argued that the idea of beauty is objective.

I don't like the word "influenced" since it points to subjectivity almost.

Hey, so I can't vote for my opinion. I would say go for the November test (I'm also taking the Nov test and I'm happy to study with you)

At worst: You get a low score, but here's the silver lining:

It'll inform you of where you stand and you can use that knowledge to correct/add on some additional study material.

It'll give you some more prep for January (which you may take and pass)

You'll know deficiencies under timed REAL test conditions which you can correct.

You may score poorly (but you can cancel the score via LSAC Score Preview)

At best: You pass with a decent score. That's it, you're done.

Personally, I think you're in a great position. You can't lose by taking the November LSAT.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I fucked up and did that earlier this month, had a bit of a burnout and took about a week off, came back, and did super well on my PT I took this Monday. REST IS IMPORTANT. You'll have plenty of time to stress in Law School lol.

So yeah, I'd say go for November.

I got this one wrong (I originally chose C). Overconfidence got me. Here's my breakdown of why A is correct though (this is before I watch JY's explanation)

Stim (copied from The Shepherds post, edited by me):

Advances in photocopying technology allow criminals with no printing expertise to counterfeit paper currency. One standard anticounterfeiting technique, microprinting, prints paper currency with tiny designs that cannot be photocopied distinctly. Although counterfeits of microprinted currency can be detected easily by experts, such counterfeits often circulate widely before being detected. An alternative, though more costly, printing technique would print currency with a special ink. Currency printed with the ink would change color depending on how ordinary light strikes it, whereas photocopied counterfeits of such currency would not. Because this technique would allow anyone to detect photocopied counterfeit currency easily, it should be adopted instead of microprinting, despite the expense.

Breakdown:

Criminals counterfeit money very easily by utilizing photocopying. There are two methods to stop them from doing this. One counterfeiting technique is microprinting, but these bills can circulate widely before they are detected as fakes BY EXPERTS. The alternative to this is a method using special ink. Currency made by this method would become a different color when held up to light. This would allow ANYONE to detect counterfeit bills easily. Despite it being a more expensive method it should be adopted.

Answer Choices:

A - THE CORRECT ANSWER. Why? Because this answer states, when we rely on experts to detect counterfeit bills, the costs incurred by the society reliant on this technique are significant.

i.e. The microprint bills need to detected by experts, the special ink bills can be detected by anyone/everyone. It is, therefore, more expensive/costly to the society that uses microprint bills since they need experts to detect if they are counterfeits or not.

B - Okay but why? What does this add to the argument?

C - (My original choice) Incorrect. Kind of restates what the argument already stated.

D - Irrelevant

E- Weakens the argument. Many criminals don't even have access to the right technology to pass their (microprinted) bills off as real to cashiers (WHO NOT EXPERTS IN DETECTING COUNTERFIT BILLS). So why should we adopt the ink measure? It seems like adopting the ink measure is overkill.

I have formulated a rough study plan, but I need to have some input and some more concrete goals. I'm also receiving some tutoring. I will add that my cold diagnostic score was a 149. I'm not sure if I did a good job explaining my situation, so if clarification is needed, I'm more than happy to write more.

Feeling Deflated

Hey guys, I don't really know who to talk to about this because no one in my family or in my friend group has pursued law before. I'm just really nervous. My goal score is high 150s to the low 160s. My average is ~158 - 159. I took a PT last Friday, timed conditions, scored a 159. Great. Yes. Fantastic. I took a timed PT this Monday, scored a 156 (I ran out of time on the LG, totally freezed up, idk what happened). Kind of confused. I seem to really fluctuate between 157-159 to 160-161. But even then, my "160" scores were either tests with an untimed LG section or totally untimed altogether.

I've been really drilling LG and I'm pretty fast at them now, my average is -3.7 I believe, and I can comfortably complete a section of games with about like ~70 - 80% accuracy. I diagram pretty well, though sometimes I have to brute force my way through some of the harder/hardest games.

However, the rest of my section scores are kind of wonky,

I seem to fluctuate between 7-9 wrong on LR. I know this is the section that I've been struggling to wrap my head around. I'm really good at some types of questions, but dismal on others. My weakest points really seem to be NA, SA, and MC type questions. I'm going to start (tomorrow) and go through this section in the CC again.

With my RC I don't even know. I'm a decent reader (it's been my strongest skill throughout school) , but holy shit guys, I went from -6 to -8, to like pulling -8 to -11. It's like the hat trick from hell. I don't know if this is common to see such a decrease after studying for a bit?

(I have noticed on the timed portions of LR I feel like I actually do a bit better, while on the untimed doing a bit worse, while at the same time I cant really nail down what's wrong with the RC section, I feel like I just lose focus)

I guess all of this is to say, I'm taking the November LSAT. I thought I was going to be prepared when I signed up, but honestly, a month out, I'm still feeling a bit rough, and the uncertainty is killing me.

You guys think it would be possible to score a high 150/160 in NOV? My goal is the law school at Oregon University, their median LSAT score is 158 it seems (25th being 155, 75th being 161), with a GPA of 3.57 (I'm literally .01 below that lmao) Let me know below in the poll or the comments. Sorry for the relatively "Oh boo-hoo woe is me" type post, but I figured a discussion with you guys could help me sort some things out and come up with a better strategy.

LSAT Tomorrow!

Hey everybody! Tomorrow/the day after is game day! Good luck. I'm rooting for you. What are you going to do today to relax/get ready? Personally, I'm gonna take one last mini-drill (a logic game, a reading passage, and 5 LR Q's) then go on a hike or get into nature, workout, maybe game a bit, etc. I'm proud of the work I've done, and you should be too. We're all going to make it. I will be sending out big-brain vibes to you all tomorrow.

This one was so frustrating, I got overconfident on it:

A My Original Answer Choice is not correct, since it could point to the training paying off since they are senior reporters and have salaries equivalent to competitors, it could point to the training being invaluable in running stories,

B Is correct since they've worked there for a very long time, and it appears that their training has not paid out

C So what? Doesn't address the salary problem.

D Could have a reason for the salaries being lower, thereby strengthening the argument.

E Okay and? So what?

A This would mean the removal of sewage would not do much, rendering the proposal pointless.

B is not correct for me it was a "so what?" moment. However, I see what JY means when he says it would harm other lobsters, meaning the proposal would be pointless

C is not correct, lobsters will breed just as fast in polluted water as in non-polluted water, meaning that their populations will be fine

D is not correct since "so what?"

E is correct since humans being sick from eating gill disease-ridden lobsters, means that the proposal is not pointless, since it would be helping humans.

I chose C because I read too fast. I know that C is wrong because it's basically just the flipped around a premise of the argument. Oof, still 4/5 so that's cool.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
