@.T.90066-1 i hope you do get that 160! that is around my target score! how long did it take you to get the 155 from 139, i think your improvement was great!

i mean yeah you would definitely want to aim for a 180. but set your goals by what the schools you are applying to require (admissions and scholarships). but to answer your question my dream score is 180, i want a 167 but the minimum score i need is a 161.

how much do you study? what do you do to focus?

i generally study at least 3 hours a day. i felt that 3 hours a day would be sufficient for me because i am fast learner and my attention span does not last long. what do those of you with short attention spans do to focus on studying? I'd like to know so i can study for at least an hour and half longer.

i started off reading the Official LSAT Prep book and that gave me a basic understanding of what to study for on the LSAT. now that i am using 7sage some lessons are a lot easier than others because I had prior knowledge. 7sage is pretty much going to give you a thorough understanding of the LSAT. the comments and responses to the lessons are super beneficial because i guarantee you there is someone who had the same problem you may have, and that person can offer you a clearer understanding specific to you. i sometimes use my power score bibles if i am struggling with something and i can't find the answer on 7sage but that is rare. Good luck!

I would say just take the June test!

that way when it is time for you to take the September test, you will be super comfortable taking the test for a second time because you already know the testing conditions, you're privy to the newer changes on the test (we study old PTs), and you'll be more comfortable in your testing setting because you've been there before.

there is no such thing as a "right time" (well at least in my mind) so there is no better time than the present. do what works for you though and good luck to you!

Every Answer Must be Wrong!

I have the need to prove/ explain why every answer choice wrong before I feel confident with the correct answer. by the time it's time for me to select the right answer, I see much work on my scratch paper that I overlook the correct answer! suggestions on how I can stop feeling the need to prove why the wrong answers are wrong?

secondly, how are you guys working to improve attention to detail? i rush to finish in time, and end up missing out on important details. (Especially on Logic Games)

Law School Admission Websites

with the thousands of law schools in the US it is impossible to go through each one and determine if they meet all my needs and if i meet theirs. is there a website with credibility that i can go to, put in what i am looking for in a law school and they give me a list of schools that have what i am looking for.

currently using law school transparency and have determined my number one choice but i need other options. what are you using?

i do. i do them about 4 or 5 times back to back, if i don't get it right on the 4th or 5th time then i watch the videos then i do it again down the line. i do not like to rely on the video explanations for the simple fact that i want to get the answers right because i understand them not because they are explained. good luck!

i feel like RC is just one of those things that you have to be super excited to study for and work on to do well. i think as long as you have a consistent scores like one day you get -5, the next -4, the next day its -6 then that's fine. but if one day you get -3 and the next day its -15 then that's a problem.

@ comparative passages, i determine the MP of each and then find out how they relate and where they disagree. i also underline shift changes (words like: however, but, etc.,) it's easier to see what's going on in the passage. besides that i don't think there is much else you can do. let me know if you find a better way to attack those!

@.T.90066-1 with MP questions you have to be careful because it seems to me that sometimes the author will thoroughly explain the opposition's argument and very subtly convey his opinion. so for me, it can be hard to determine what the author's purpose or MP is.

I believe we lack motivation because of the other things that go on in our life. the time we set aside to study can be used to do other things that are equally as important as studying for this test. there is so much other stuff we could be doing, that sitting down for 5 hours a day, 6 days a week and talking about "lawgic", premises and conclusions isn't that interesting.

to keep myself motivated i have to remind myself that right now taking the LSAT seems like a big deal but once I get that law degree, taking the LSAT will seem so small. i also signed up for a tour of the law school i hope to attend. The visit to my law school of choice has now motivated me to stop complaining about studying and just get this LSAT thing over with. my target score is a 167, so i wrote down 167, on my mirrors, and notebooks and whatever else i could find. i also like to read attorney bio's, they inspire me to keep pushing. hearing other people's stories motivate me. the thought that some day someone will read my bio inspires me to try harder. i like to youtube law school graduations and imagine what it's going to feel like when i graduate. lastly, I'm religious so i pray that God will help me focus, be motivated and be determined to be successful. if your not religious just put it out into the universe that you want be and you will be successful at taking this test.

Making Inferences? I suck! HELP!

the June test is right around the corner. i'm still doing horribly in sequencing games. still not being able to make the inferences i need to in order to score better. what are your methods to improve this. i try to drill without looking at the video explanations, so that i can recognize patterns and gather inferences on my own but it doesn't seem to be working. advice please?!?!?!

improvement suggestions needed!

taking the june 2014 LSAT, hoping for a 161. first untimed score was 143. seeing a lot of people saying it took them a year to go from the 140's to the 170's, which is freaking me out. I'm thinking maybe these people had time to study for a year. should I be banking on taking the October LSAT too? or do I need to calm down and start studying 30 hours a week?

LR 911!!!

with the December LSAT just around the corner and and a 21+ improvement on my PT's, i'm anxiously awaiting test day. one problem left to tackle: improve on flawed reasoning questions.

i've drilled these questions like no other, and i'm still no better at them. what helped you guys solve this question type? what suggestions for improvement are you guys willing to share? anyone willing to help?!?!?!

last time i worked a 12 hour day, 6 days a week and had been studying for a year so no surprise that i was just flat out tired when i took the LSAT!

this time i cut hours at my job to free up some of my time to study. Will be going through 7sage class again, threw in Blueprint LG book, Manhattan LR Book and reading old reading comp's from past PT's to help with RC. bought some bundles from cambridge too!

this time i will actually take JY's advice to drill and review! last time i would do a problem, get it wrong, look up the right answer and move on.

and no more studying laying down in bed lol

well if i understand correctly, what you're doing may be unproductive.

i go through the lessons in order because i have noticed that lessons i'm currently learning are based on subjects that I've already been taught therefore making it easier for me to understand the new lesson. if you skip around, you'll miss that.

i also believe that you should go through all the lessons first and then do the PT's. you don't want to waste the PT's because there are only so many. in the lessons JY is already teaching you how to attack each type of question there is on the LSAT so in my opinion comparing the explanation videos to the questions on the PT is unnecessary. I've found that if i immediately check my answers or compare my answers, my confidence suffers which is NOT a good thing.

however, everyone is different. people learn in different ways therefore i encourage you to do what you think is best for you. it's great that you asked this though so you can get suggestions from other people and new tips/advice that may work for you.

Best Book for LR

done the 7sage prep course, and read the powerscore bible for LR, and I drill like it's nobody's business; would like for someone to recommend a book that will help me out with understanding it a little bit better. being that we have 2 LR sections (possibly 3 depending on exp section) I want/need to improve. Flaw seems to be my biggest issue. any recommendations?

i am having so much trouble with these questions too! I'm about to start panicking because there isn't much time left before the June Test!

i started looking at the AC's as which one defends the argument or which one fills in the gap for the argument the best, i then, negate and do the MBT test but i still end up choosing the wrong answer, whenever JY explains the AC's i understand but i am still getting the questions wrong. NA has not clicked for me! maybe my problem is that i do not see the gap that JY and the LSAT see?

i would prefer to take the test once and be done with it. but like you i am not confident on how i will perform on the test come test day. test anxiety is real. i did some research and came across these articles:

http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=107648

i also emailed my top schools, and asked them how they feel about retakes. i read on the admission ticket that canceled scores do count toward the 3 test takes in 2 years thing. so in my mind you might as well keep the score. currently, i am doing my best to continue to improve my scores and if i do not like the score i receive i will be doing the September retake. best of luck to you!
