Is there no longer a three times per two years limit on the LSAT?

Hey 7sagers, advice needed:

I took the LSAT three times already with a 162 high score and a 159 average. I don’t know what happened with my last LSAT; I was practice testing in the mid-160s. But anyway, there’s nothing I can do about that now. My GPA is 3.99.

My dream school is Northwestern (I’m from Chicago). I was planning on applying early decision, but given my low LSAT scores, I doubt I’ll get in. Should I still apply early decision? Or should I apply to a different, lower ranked school early decision? Other schools on my list are Georgetown, George Washington, Boston College, Boston University, U of Illinois, etc.

I am planning on going into public interest immigration law and I know Northwestern has a new Pritzker public interest grant so that might help me in addition to my post-grad experience, but not if admissions only cares about the LSAT score and GPA.

Thoughts? Advice? Also, should I write an addendum for my low LSAT score?

Thanks!!

WashU $$ or Georgetown?

Hi 7sagers,

With deposit deadlines looming, I could use your thoughts on law school choices. I am stuck between Georgetown and Washington University in St. Louis. I was offered almost half tuition $$ from WashU and nothing from Georgetown, which isn’t all that surprising given WashU’s tendency to lure student with $$ and Georgetown’s lack of generous scholarship offers. I want to do public interest immigration law in Chicago (or possibly D.C.) after graduation. I have already tried negotiating with Georgetown (though maybe I’m doing that wrong since it doesn’t seem to be working). Any thoughts or advice?

Thanks!!

When should I purchase CAS?

I’m taking the September 2018 LSAT and would like to submit my law school applications as soon as I receive my score. I have one LSAT score and my undergrad transcript on file already so if I purchase LSAC’s CAS service now, will my reports be sent to schools before my (hopefully higher) September LSAT score is released? Should I wait until after the test to purchase CAS even though it’s recommended to purchase it four-six weeks before you plan to submit applications?

Acceptance Call but No Email?

I received a call yesterday in the early morning from Washington University in St. Louis. The caller congratulated me on my acceptance to the law school. However, I never received an email or other form of acceptance confirmation. Should I be concerned?

Some law school applications ask, "Are you applying, or have you applied, to other law schools? If so, please list them." This questions is typically marked as optional within the "Law School Interest" section.

Should we disclose this information or leave it blank? What are the advantages/disadvantages of listing all or some of the schools to which we are applying?

Thank you for hosting that webinar! I would like to read a blog post about reverse splitters (assuming the LSAT will not be retaken due to other obligations), how to instruct personal statement editors (e.g. family and friends) to read through the essays (i.e. basic instructions from the perspective of an admissions officer), whether or not we should ask an alumnus who is a close friend or family member to write an additional LoR for that school, and/or how to incorporate post-undergraduate work experience into applications when that is not mentioned in the personal statement.

Are LRAPs Reliable?

How reliable are Loan Repayment Assistance Programs? How can school guarantee that the programs will exist well into the future? I know that we can't predict the future, but how likely is it that schools would cancel or drastically change their LRAPs in the near/distant future? I'm considering GULC specifically, but also asking for evidence from law schools in general.

Hi David and others, I'm strongly considering going to GULC in the fall and plan on practicing public interest immigration law, but I'm nervous about relying on LRAP. @ Thanks! I sent you a private message. :)

I applied ED to a law school, and my application was placed on hold in December. The decision letter said that they expect to complete they re-evaluation of those ED candidates by the end of January. It's February now and I have not heard back from the school. Should I email them or just try to be patient? I already sent a letter of continued interest at the beginning of January.
