Hi everyone! I'm an international applicant applying this cycle, and I wanted to hear about other people's experiences, especially those of international applicants.
As many of you may know, international applicants' GPAs are evaluated differently, often through a percentile or class rank rather than a numerical GPA. Honestly, this has been a bit discouraging for me because I actually have a very strong academic record, but I feel like that might not be fully reflected in the evaluation.
My biggest concern is that I've heard admissions officers may place much less weight on international applicants' GPAs and focus primarily on LSAT scores. I've also heard that applicants with LSAT scores below a school's median may have a particularly difficult time getting admitted, regardless of their academic background.
What makes me feel a little discouraged is that domestic applicants seem to have more room to compensate for a lower LSAT score with a strong GPA, while international applicants may not have the same opportunity since their GPAs aren't reported numerically.
I'm trying to find some hope and would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been admitted to a U.S. law school with an LSAT below the school's median and an international GPA evaluation.
For some context, I was a professional ballet dancer before transitioning to academics, and I currently work at my country's National Assembly. I believe I have a fairly unique background and meaningful softs, so I'm hoping those experiences can also make a difference in the admissions process.
If you know of anyone who has been in a similar situation, or if you've personally experienced this, I'd love to hear your story!
Thank you so much in advance, and good luck to everyone applying this cycle! We got this!
