C: Reduce cancer by reducing fat. (Causation)

P: Countries with higher fat have higher rates of cancer. (Correlation)

Weaken: Alternative cause. A third factor? Or Y causes X or X causes Y.

A.) Varying diet doesn't weaken the claim.

B.) Countries with highest fat intake are the wealthiest? How does this weaken the claim? Wealthy nations could have better health care.

C.) Cancer is a prominent cause of death --- 30% of low-risk. It still could mean that 70% of population with higher fat can have higher rate of cancer.

D.) Alternative cause. Environmental pollution such as a nuclear leak. (Smaller assumption.)

E.) One individual resident?

Correlative Premise: Hormones are associated with stress.

Causal Conclusion: Crying reduces stress.

Correlative-Causation Flaw:

Just because there are hormones it doesn't mean that by reducing the hormones it would reduce the stress.

A.) Confusing. If crying reduces stress....(It is assuming that the conclusion is correct.)

B.) No conditionals here. Just causal.

C.) The flaw does not assume that hormones cause stress; and stress cause hormones. No mutually exclusive relationship.

D.) What distinct factors? Crying and hormones? Distinguishes the factors? No.

E.) Certain substances are produced (hormones) whenever a condition (stress) occurs, that the substance (hormones) cause the stress. Yes!

P: Only purpose of email ----> provide legal protection

P: If suggests illegal, then no legal protection.

C: Disclaimer serves no purpose

If suggests illegality, then no legal protection and no purpose.

A.) If email does not suggest legality, then no legal protection. And if no legal protection, then no purpose.

B.) Substantial penalties? Not mentioned in the conclusion. (Out-of-scope)

C.) Ignored? But, it may still serve a purpose.

D.) So weak. It is a Necessary Assumption. But, does it serve no purpose?

E.) Another weak answer choice. But, does it serve no purpose?

For Question 2 (Meaning of a Word or Phrase in Context): Look at words or phrases before the word or phrase. Here, "elimination" was important to note because I selected B but it was incorrect because the price to print books on demand will not be eliminated. However, D is more accurate since it states "the costs specific to retail trade in traditional printed books." The costs of warehousing books will be eliminated.

Strategy for Meaning of a Word or Phrase (or Referent) Questions: Replace the word or phrase back into the original sentence to see if makes sense.
