I was fooled by A, but i think the key was realizing that that, "though" refers to a concession, i.e something the conclusion would be making a case against...so if the author is conceding that killer whales do not 'seem' to behave differently around running boat engines, then she is going to make a case that there nevertheless 'could be'/'may' some diffirence...
