BR Method for Non-Timed PTs?

Is it a good idea to use the BR method for non-timed pts? I like to work on older pts such as 30 to 50 slowly while Im at work or If I need to drill and keep my mind sharp and to make it a habit to not forget anything.

Im using 51 to present pts for my actual timed pts while I study for the October exam so Im not concerned with wasting pts.

@ Thank you for the advice! You cleared up a lot for me.

Also, I began studying the CC from start once I got my score on Feb 15. Now I actually understand everything that I've been studying!

Questions - Need some Answers and advice please!

First question - I'm having a difficult time trying to figure out when to use conditional reasoning. Can someone explain to me which questions types are most common in which to use these CR?

Second Question - When should I use the questions from the test bank? I feel like there is no time set to use these questions for practice. Should I do them when Im working on that exact lesson?

For example I'm currently on Validity and MBT. Should I do the question bank - MBT questions types for more practice the same day that i'm studying this section?

I feel like if I work on these I'll forget them towards the end of the CC. That's what happened last time, I wasn't able to remember anything. While Pting I forgot how to spot an arguments premises, conclusion, context, etc...

I want to keep re-enforcing every lesson so I don't forget what to do on each problem type. Can anyone suggest what I should do?

Also, I'm incorporating powerscore lessons with 7sage. For example, when I was working on the Weakening lesson, I would go through 7sages lesson and once I was done I would go through powerscore. I would do those early in the afternoon from 1pm to about 4 pm or until I finish both lessons. I would then stop and around 7pm I would work on powerscores study schedule because I begin learning LG and RC early rather then later.

@ said:

I had LR (26Q) RC LR (26Q) LR(25Q) LG

I thought the 25Q LR section was the easiest, and the 2nd LR with 26Q was the hardest.

I'm not sure if anyone else felt this way, but the first LR section with 26Q really felt like a lot of the questions were in past LSAC Preptests.. I've done PTs 42-74 and it almost felt like they had stuck a whole LR section from a past PT somewhere in that range in. It was actually pretty distracting, to be honest.

Yes!!! I thought I was the only one. I believe there were questions from old pts.

Ah okay, now I understand! Thank you!

If anyone would like to contribute last minute summaries and strategies for RC, LR, LG please feel free to post!

Example:

How to find the main point/main conclusion of the argument.

  • Normally it's in the beginning or the middle of the stimulus.
  • (If I'm wrong feel free to correct me and I will update it)

Thank you! I'll look into the argument part questions in the question bank and try to find the specific questions stems I need.

    ID the Role

What category would "Identify the Role" fall in? Where can I find more practice questions for this type of question within 7sage?

The way I did it was splitting it into 7 days, but keep the sections together. For example, there could be part 1 and part 2 for a specific sub lesson, I would do that on Monday morning and in the afternoon I would review it. I would make sure I have my lessons evenly divided throughout the week so I don't get lost or so I don't forget anything.

There might be lessons you will have difficulty with and you might spend more then 1 week on... That happened to me with Sufficient Assumption and Necessary Assumption question types or Flaw question types.

    Context Indicators?

So, I thought the words: But, although, and However introduce context. But, a lot of the MP/MC that I've done use these words as premise indicators.

    For Example, PT 40, Sec 1, Q9.

Do these words introduce context or are they also premise indicators?

@ I want to thank you for taking the time out of your helping me with this delimma! I really appreciate it!

I mixed some things up, I ment to say, the fool proofing method for LG doesn't help me because I memorize the inferences, board, and answer choices once I watch JYs explanations. So, It's difficult for me to do the same game because I feel like I haven't learned anything.

For LR, I do a lot of drilling by using the question bank at first, but I probably did it inefficiently.

Open pts is like drilling, I would do say pt 46 not timed, after every question I would look up the answer choice if it was wrong I would try to understand why it's wrong.

I don't do BR because I've got a bad habit of second guessing myself. Which I already do when I do timed pts. I would originally choose the correct answer but for some reason it gets it my head to reread the stem and stimulus again which will cause me to doubt my answer and I end up crossing it out and choosing the wrong one.

    @

Yes, I've gotten through the CC the week of the Novemeber 17th exam. I initially began the last week of August. I watched all of the videos, attempted the practice. At one point I began timing myself when doing the practice to get in the rytham of things.

BR doesn't help me because I already know the correct answers after watching the explanations and I get frustrated when doing them again because I've seen how it's done and I don't end up learning because it is being repeated. If that makes sense.

For studying, I began doing open pts by trying to find my strengths and weaknesses. I would then do timed pts to reinforce the accuracy of those strs and weaknesses. Mostly for LR.

I then began trying to understand exactly what the question stem was asking by reviewing all of the possible LR question types. Yet, I still have difficulty choosing the correct answer choice. I've gotten to the point where I can eliminate three answer choices and be left with two, but I seem to always choose the wrong one.

For logic games I went through the lessons, but I still have a hard time knowing which game board to use. I recently learned to differentiate the in/out boards, grouping, and the sub versions of them. I make inferences just as JY taught, but i still over thing them and make even more game boards to accommodate all of the possible out comes and then I get lost. I have a lot of issues with sequencing with a twist.

I've got a BA in English so for RC it's a bit easier. I can handle the tedious reading, I can understand the passage but I tend to get lost with questions. I tend to broaden the passage in my head which causes me to block out potential answer scenarios or fine details that could help.

I feel like I've been studying wrong way and the wrong material.

I've had three different study partners, I tired looking at how they tackle their questions and how to answer them correctly.

One of them took it before and got a 157, but he took the Test Masters course, the other had a 165, and the third it's her first time like me.

Sorry for how long this has gotten, hopefully someone can help me fix this issue with my studying and maybe help me finding something that makes sense.

Thank you for the advice @, but, I agree with David. I want to experience the test setting and see what will happen. Maybe I'll get lucky and get the question types I've had difficulty with correct.

But, I do need help figuring out what my next step should be after the exam as I start preparing for March. Should I go back and review fundamentals or focus on the things I know i'm having trouble with.

For me this has been a very difficult journey due to the fact i'm a horrible standardized test taker.

I've been at this for 5 months now and I still get -16 to -24 on LR, -12 to -15 on LG, and -14 to -16 on RC. I've done all of the PTs on here for the starter pack and I have all of the PTs from 1-80. I've done about 2000+ questions and I still have a ton of difficulty getting questions correct

I hate to admit it, but it's reality and I have to admit and accept my weaknesses in order to improve. I need the material to be "dumbed down" for me.

For example, in LR, I need to completely understand what the question is asking and I will be able to get the answer correct every time. But, flaws are a nightmare for me.. I've tried everything and it is still one of my weak points.

    Hi everyone,

I'm about to take my first LSAT this Saturday and I already know I'm not going to get a high score.

My questions is, what can I do or what actions should I take to improve my score the second time around?

I kind of know what i'm weak at but not really.

My highest PT was 155 and I get a consistent 147-149. Honestly, my aim is 155-160.

Trouble with weakening and Strengthening questions.

    Hi everyone,

I'm having a very difficult time finding the answer to these sort of questions. I completely understand the Premises and the conclusion. I'm able to break down the prompt very well.

My issue comes in when I start reading the answer choices and nothing seems to click. Normally I'll look at the answer choices and the ones that are wrong I can pick out easily. But, for these I just see words on a page that just don't make sense to me.

How do I engage these questions?

P.S. I've watched the webinar and it still doesn't fix my problem, I feel like it's very broad and very little explanation now how to view these in a different light. Again, that's just my opinion.

    Help with Blind Review

Can anyone help explain to me what EXACTLY you are supposed to do on each step of the BR method.

This is my second time going through the CC, the first time I didn't use the BR method because I didn't fully understand what I was doing.

Also, can this method be used when doing quizzes, drilling problem sets, and doing untimed pts?

When should I start using this method?

    BR question

Okay, I'm a bit confused on how to BR.

Do I go through a timed PT/Section, transfer my answers to different sheet/7sage, and then go back and go over my pt once again un-timed?

    Hi everyone,

I just want some insight on your experiences from when you first started studying to the current point or even end point which you already took the Lsat and got your score. Did you see a massive improvement from the cold test till now?
