Two LSAT Cancellations? Keep or Cancel?

Hello! So.. my worst case scenario came true. I took the January 2023 LSAT for the first time, did not do great, and cancelled my score. I took the LSAT for a second time in September and managed to score worse by TWO points than the Jan LSAT I cancelled. I am really stressing out about if I should cancel my score or keep it - only if it would really look that bad to T-14 schools to have two cancellations. For context, I am also registered for the October 2023 exam. My September score is MUCH lower than any of my target school averages, and so I want to cancel the score but don't know if there's any merit to avoiding having two cancellations on my record. The September test was a bit of a fluke for me as I panicked and really got in my head during the exam.

I appreciate anyone's help!

I regret cancelling my first score (162) but was advised to cancel my 160 too because I was PTing 5+ points higher on average and because the average for all the schools I want to go to are 170-176. So while 160-165 is definitely a great score for some schools, it's well below the average of the schools I'm hoping to get into. Hope that helps!

I cancelled the first two scores (160 and 162) and am waiting on my October LSAT. My PT's were mid 160s

Hello! I am having a lot of difficulty writing my addendum to explain my two LSAT score cancellations. The truth is, I took the LSAT in January well before I felt prepared and cancelled that score, and then I retook it in September but panicked on the exam and performed really poorly... but I have no idea how to spin that in a compelling way and not come across like I crack under pressure... I retook the exam in October, which will be the score I'm using for my applications. Any advice on what to say in my addendum would be greatly appreciated.

**For context, I'd attended an NYU Law info session and an admissions officer said they "prefer a short addendum about multiple score cancellations." So I've been told they want it, I just have no idea what to write or how to word it...

How is B "least restrictive"?? #help

Please help advise...

I took the January 2023 LSAT for the first time, got a 162, and cancelled my score. I took the LSAT for a second time in September and managed to score TWO points WORSE than the January LSAT. The September test was a bit of a fluke for me as I panicked and really got in my head during the exam, even though I had felt much more prepared.

I am registered for the October 2023 exam and am keeping that score no matter what.

So, do I cancel my September LSAT and have 2 cancellations on my record? I am planning to submit all my law school applications before Nov 1st (when October scores come out), so they will either hold my file if I only have cancelled LSATs, or they'll judge my file based on a 160 LSAT which is MUCH lower than any of my target school averages. I want to get into a T-14 school and know my LSAT will already be on the low end, but I feel confident based on my PT scoring that I can get above 166, at least.

I have to decide before October 3rd if I'm cancelling my September score or keeping it.. I really appreciate anyone's help!

@.leon96 thank you for taking the time to reply!! Sorry, just to clarify, I cancelled my Jan score - which was a 162. I got a 160 on my September exam. Right now I only have one cancellation on my record, but would be two if I also cancel September. I am taking the October exam and will keep that score, no matter what.

I know these scores are very low for T14s, but I've been scoring 170s on my practice tests so I don't feel my test scores have been good indications of my ability.

So, do you think 2 cancellations and then a 3rd (hopefully) higher LSAT score looks like a red flag to schools?

Should I give up? :(

After 1 year+ of studying for the LSAT, I feel devastated. I just recieved my October LSAT score - 162. In January I got 162 (cancelled) -> 160 in September (cancelled) -> and now 162 again. I thought I could get at least a 165 and feel at a loss because clearly I haven't been studying right for the past year.

I am almost done with my law school applications and intend to apply in the next two weeks. Is it even worth registering for the January LSAT? I'm not sure how much I could improve by then and it would more be for the purpose of having a better score if I was waitlisted or for scholarships... Also, I'm abroad currently so can only take the January international exam.

I am SO done with this awful exam. BTW I am a split scorer - 3.92 GPA and 162 LSAT. I want to get into a T14/20.

What do I do now? Should I just give up and apply with my 162 and hope for the best? I genuinely don't know how I can improve and I just feel like I can't get this test right.
