I got 15,16,17 wrong b/c of the exactly same reason: picking the wrong one among TWO tempting answer choices. Now I see this was happened by the missing of details, but still, this is quite annoying of keep not getting questions right just b/c of missing the final step.

@ I don’t think your plan to improve sounds that unreasonable but, to me, your timeframe sounds pretty unreasonable. Is there a reason you want to take the June test? Though it’s obviously not impossible for you to improve to a 165 on the June test, it’s not likely. If you plan to apply this fall, you could take the August or September tests and still get your scores back early enough to apply early in the cycle. And those extra two or three months of studying could help you far more than three weeks.

I am planning to take June LSAT because August or September tests are not offered to international test-takers in Asian regions. I should wait until October if I do not take the June one, and I'm afraid the 6 months of gap may make my testing sense, which I got a slight sense of it during the April LSAT, dull. Since October exam is the last chance to apply for early, I wish I could have a keen sense and condition during this exam. Therefore, I am planning to take June LSAT, then register the October one if I fail to achieve the score I want from the June exam, instead of postponing the June exam to October.

Need Help - From 158 to 165 in 3 Weeks??

Hi. I took April LSAT then scored 158 from the test (I am planning to cancel this score since I purchased the LSAT score preview). It is not a horrible result as a first-time test taker, but disappointing for me b/c I am aiming the score around 165 as my target.

I know I am looking forward to substantial rise, but I wish to ask: do you think is it possible for me to get 165 in just three weeks?

My average PT score is around 160 - 165, depending on questions, conditions..etc. In usual, it stays around 160-162 and reach up to 165 on a lucky day.

Now I am preparing for June LSAT, which is only three weeks away from now (I will take the test in South Korea btw), and wish to ask for some advices about my plan and feasibility of getting this target score.

I am not really worrying about LG since I have gotten -0, -1, or -2 in most (almost all) recent attempts. I think what should I do is taking a section drill in every day or two then getting more comfortable with this section.

My LR scores are really inconsistent. Sometimes I get -3, sometimes it drops down to -9. I've considered the reason why. For now, I suppose one reason lies on the moment when I fall into a loophole. When I cannot understand points of some questions, I often get to think too deeply then feel some obviously wrong answer choices look correct (I regret a lot on this type of questions when I review). Therefore, I am re-reading Powerscore, LSAT trainer, Notes I've taken from 7Sage courses, and wrong questions to specify a proper thinking strategy I should hold during a test thus I can return to this task whenever I try to fall into a loophole. I am also taking a section drill in every two days to clarify whether this is working or not.

RC is my weakest section. I usually get -7 and get almost half wrong when I completely screwed it up (not really often). I've re-read a LSAT trainer to identify the reason why, as I've done in LR, then found out the fact that I often focus on a tree instead of a forest. When I reach to questions about a specific part of passage, I focus too much on the part they specified then neglect/forget a general purpose or main points of the work. This made me missing a whole point during the test then getting wrong on both general and specific questions. Therefore, to overcome this bad habit, I am writing down a purpose of each passage whenever I review the passages I've done and taking a section drill every day to adapt myself into a more general perspective. + I'm especially struggling with a comparative passage because I am really, REALLY bad at it. I often miss the relationship between two passages and distort a point of the Passage A while reading the Passage B. Thus, if you have any specific tip on solving a comparative passage's questions, I am happy to hear that.

I am planning to take a full PT once or twice per week (may take 3 PTs in a last week or two), depending on the amount of time for review. In between each PT, I will take two section drills almost every day while I review. (LG, RC for day 1, LR, RC for day 2...) I planned like this because I think what should I do right now is clarifying the BEST thinking strategy for me for each section, not just mechanically taking PTs over and over again. I believe this may bring my score up substantially.

How do you think about the plans above? Well, even I am not really optimistic on getting the score I am aiming for, but nevertheless, I wish to do my best under the current circumstance. Therefore, I am happy to hear any comment/advice. If you have any tip on question solving (especially on RC and LR), it would be grateful if you can share.

#help

I'd narrowed my choices down into B and C then got wrong by choosing C. Even though I've heard JY's analysis, still a bit unsure that I've made correct understanding about this question.

Here is my understanding:

In general, the stimulus is assuming that decline in the publish of intrinsic book directly explains that publishers are more into profit than a past. Thus I thought I need to find a choice that breaks the presumed connection between Publishers' interest in profit and the number of intrinsic book.

I thought C attacks the stimulus by claiming that even intrinsic books are published for profit so the decline of publish cannot directly imply Publishers' high interest in profit.

However, according to JY's analysis, this is incorrect because this profit is 'unexpected' by publishers. Since they did not intend to get profit from publishing intrinsic book, it is hard to say C attacks the assumption in stimulus.

B is correct because it offers alternate explanation regarding the current decline of intrinsic book. They are less publishing intrinsic book not because they are obsessed with profit but because recent books are not good enough to publish in compare to the ones from the past. B tells that low quality caused the decline of book publish in general, not only for intrinsic books.

Is this correct?

Hello, hope your days are going well and safe.

I am here because I wonder where people usually get the review of their personal statements.

When I wrote my other personal statements, which were not for law school admissions, I got the help of the writing center from the college I went to.

However, this is not a possible option anymore after graduation last year. Since I could not think of different options, I decided to listen to other people's experiences to see where can I ask for advice.

Therefore, I would be grateful if you could share how did you get the review of your personal statements.

Happy to hear any of your experiences regarding it!

I took this passage under untimed conditions and spent around 15 min just to understand the passage well. It is one of the most challenging passages I’ve ever done. Plus, forgetting the term ‘previously’ from the second paragraph during the reading was also the critical mistake I made. : (

Hello, thank you for all of kind and engaging comments and ideas! Your words help me a lot to review my study routine. And yes, it sounds correct that I was too rushing with inadequate foundation base. Since today, I've moved back to foundation and basic skill part and planning to move to timed exercise after I got solid base, as @ and @ suggested. Again, thanks for all the helps you gave to me. These helps me a lot to stay engaged and keep up with study.

Chances of getting into T-40??

Hi, I am finishing my law school list for application but worrying rather I am making my lists too unrealistically. Thus I am here to get some comments about it.

My list is mostly made out of the schools within T40 (i.e-BU, Minnesota, Norte Dame, GW, Iowa, W&M, Washington and Lee, BC, Fordham, UC Davis, UC Irvine). I am also planning to apply one school from low T-14 (maybe UCLA or Berkeley?) or Boston University (more likely) as my early decision. Here are my Stats:

  • Korean, no green card, went American elementary, middle, high schools + college
  • 3.897 GPA, majored graphic design and minored culture and politics from an art college in the United States (not sure abt general tier…but one of the highest among art schools)
  • 165 LSAT (took 3 times, 158, 165, cancelled)
  • Almost Kjd? (graduated last year)
  • Low Soft I think? (I am volunteering as a graphic designer in several different non-profit institutions and have one internship experience, but I am not sure these count)
  • 3 recommendation letters to submit, all from college professors.
  • Looking forward to submit Diversity statement as a TCK
  • Am I making the goal too high? Any suggestions about my list? I am welcoming any of your comments and recommendations!

Cannot see any improvement, Need some advice

Hi, hope all of you are doing well. I am here to ask some advice about my study method.

I am started to study LSAT since this May and trying to apply next year's application, but it doesn't seem feasible b/c my score is not improving. I started by 147, then raised to 150 around July, then no change. I'm just stuck in 150 (and drops to 149 sometimes). Also, even though I am keep practicing, I cannot get free from test anxiety every time I do my PT so worrying of losing my mind during the actual test.

Thus I am thinking is there any matter in my study method.

I'd done 3-4hr/day between may-august but doing 1-2hr/day right now. I know it is not a lot of study time, but I don't really have a choice as a college senior who is completing the semester right now.

Since I do not have lots of time to study per day, I am putting each section per week. (LR in the first week, RC in the Second week, LG in the third week) and trying to take the PT of each section at the end of each week.

Also, during the week, I usually read the books from Manhattan Prep, watch lectures from 7sage, and do practice from both 7sage and Manhattan Prep.

And since my score is not improving under this practice routine, I feel like I am wasting time, which is devastating.

If anybody have any suggestion about my study method I will happily hear that.

    Thank You.

Tips on Taking Notes on RC?

Hello, I am recently trying to take notes by using the memory method. I feel helpful on some sides but experiencing lots of trouble simultaneously.

First of all, I run out of time whenever I try to take some notes by using this method (I need extra 5 minutes at least). This happens because I take a long time to read (4 minutes per passage on average), and I also overthink what to note. I still do not have consistent rules on my note-taking - sometimes I put only names and years, sometimes only names and key terms..etc. Since I cannot be sure what to note, I should take the time to clarify it. Then this time consumption makes me rush even more in the end.

Therefore, I want to ask if there are any tips on note taking or using the memory method in RC. If you are not using the memory method, can you suggest any alternate way of approaching RC? Any tips will be welcomed!
