I believe that the issue is that there is a difference between the actual size of the population and the size that would be needed to survive a natural disaster. The stimulus argues that the size of the pop. needed to survive a natural disaster was originally estimated to be too small (so that number is bigger now). HOWEVER. The actual size of the cheetah pop. is way too small... smaller than the old estimates of how big it would need to be to survive a natural disaster.
Another way to picture it would be to think of it as two separate things:
- #1: actual cheetah population
- #2: cheetah pop. needed to survive natural disaster
Originally, the stimulus says that #2 was wrong and that it's estimated pop. was actually larger (let's call this new estimate #3 now). The trick is that #1 didn't change... #1 is still barely at the pop. levels of #2, when it really needs to be at the pop. levels of #3... So basically this tells us that the cheetah pop. is screwed big time if a natural disaster hits.
Does that make sense?
This was my first time taking the LSAT and I got a 144 after PTing around 154... Honestly trying to figure out whether or not to cancel since I did the score preview. I'm seeing a lot of posts that caution against cancelling, but I know that I wasn't performing my best and that I can do much better. I will definitely be retaking later on with more study under my belt, but I wanted to know what other people's thoughts were!
