@

I've written the test twice. The last time I wrote it was in Nov/2019.

Here is what I learned.

I knew I was going to take the test again. So I decided after the Nov/2019 exam to take a month off relax and reassess my situation. Big mistake!

One of the hardest thing to do when studying for LSAT is actually getting the motivation to start studying again. After a disappointing score in Nov I felt discouraged and didn't want to hit the books right away.

Looking back this was my mistake. Taking that month off derailed my momentum. By the time I actually started studying again and getting into the rhythm I was well into March/2020.

My Advice!

Don't worry about your 155 and do not take time off as I am assuming you already have the momentum to keep studying. Take at most 2 or 3 days off, if your feeling burned.

If you feel like you have solid understanding of the material you should do the following:

Take a flexPt twice a week. One on Monday, taking Tuesday to review it and another one on Wednesday taking Thursday to review it. Friday should be used for drilling. It could be to drill whatever is your weakest section/question/etc...

IF you feel like you have a lot of weak sections. You should take only one flexPT on Monday, reviewing it on Tuesday. Taking the rest of the week to drill your weakest sections. Make sure your taking a timed practice of LG at least 4 times a week. The timed sections don not have to be new games you can use old sections. As long as they are old enough that you don not remember the answers to.

I've realised that when I am not consistently taking LG my mark in that section tends to drop.

Good luck! This test is very difficult and the difficulty is in persistent.

JY's explanation for A is not convincing.

This is what I think for A.

We know if the cream is whipped in a blender it becomes thick, velvety. We don't know if a cream whipped ineffectively generally becomes thick, velvety. It could become thick, X (X being anything you can imagine of). The stimulus doesn't provide enough information to conclude A.

B is correct. We can definitely conclude this. Why? Because of the word "completely". We know it wont completely make a fluffier whip cream

C: The word "always". Too powerful. Never choose an answer choice for MBT that has strong language. You can never prove that it will always be a fluffier result.

D: Even with the attachment we didn't get a complete fluffier result. It helped but not to the point where it was completely effective.

E: We simply don't know what the most common way to whip cream is. Can't be inferred. Remember to always choose an answer choice based on what is stated.

There is nothing to worry about here. Let me give you an analogy.

Let's say you have never ran a marathon and one day decide, "okay let me give it a shot". So you decide to sign up and run in a marathon without any training or whatsoever. You start running by the first kilometre you are out of breathe by the third kilometre you throw in the towel.

This is completely normal. No body expected you to run the whole marathon. The fact that you ran three kilometres shows how far you can run without any training and how much work you have ahead of you.

Similarly, this diagnostic that you took is the same. Don't beat yourself or think "ohh man I am stupid".

The LSAT is exactly like a marathon. Just because everyone knows how to run doesn't mean that he or she should be expected to run a whole marathon without prior training.

In this regard, just because you know how to read and have some logical skills doesn't mean you are going to do well in LSAT without training. Granted some people do well and score 160 in their first diagnostic. But those individuals are the exception not the rule. I would bet that those that start with a 160 in a diagnostic had some form of training or a strong background (undergrad in mathematics, philosophy and so on).

Similarly if you were Mike who routinely exercised and went to the gym worked out for say an hour 4 days of the week and one day randomly decided to ran a marathon, I can bet Mike would run more than the average person. In this regard the person who scores a 160 cold in a diagnostic and Mike are the same. They have had some form of training.

This is my point.

Do not be discouraged because you got 137. This score shows nothing about what you are capable off.

Start your training as of today. Treat the LSAT like it is a marathon and not a race. You can do it anyone can do it if they knew how to approach it.

And you are in the best place 7sage will teach you how to run/train so you can complete the marathon.

GOOD LUCK!!!

starting from 2019 June the count began. If you took LSAT prior to this it does not count towards your lifetime of 7. I would say take it and be confident that you will do well.

Some people have spend 3 months and have gotten a high score (165+) and some have spend 18 months to get that similar score.

The LSAT is unfortunately gives an advantage to those whose first language or mother tongue is English. I've read a published article by LSAC that has stated "the test is consistently harder for those of minority background".

However, this does not mean that as a minority you cannot do good. It just means you have to put in more work.

Ellen Cassidy the author of "The loophole" got a 170+ after only two months of studying.

What is point in all of this?

Some people see results way faster than others and some people are slower than others.

The reason why LSAT is weighted so heavily by law schools is because it is the great equaliser.

You can take your time to achieve the highest possible score, as long as you put in the time and are not discouraged.

So don't be discouraged by your low mark. It just means your not ready yet, but you will be.

I had the same issue. I wast PTing in mid 160's around September and October time. By mid November and Early December I was PTing Mid 150's and low 150's. In my case I was burned out. Couldn't stand to do another PT because I was so unmotivated by the results. Took Two weeks off. Back at it now and I have actually improved. I started studying around May as well.

My suggestion take time off at least a week or two. If your going for the Jan exam, TAKE TIME OFF NOW!!!

Start again in Jan1'st or 2nd.

I have good feeling you are going through a burn out.

You should've cancelled.

In any case, writing an addendum will help.

Took the test.

Everything went smooth and normal.

No surprises. Hopefully I got the mark I was aiming for. Though I guess 3 questions in the last RC passage.

Games were a little bit more difficult than your average sections. But if you know your games well you would do good.

LR: was a typical section. Couple of time sinks thrown at you in the beginning. But if you had a solid skipping strategy you would fair well.

You have a choice to make.

continue working and spend whatever leisure time you have on studying for the LSAT, only to find out you will score something undesirable.

take some serious time off work like from now till April and focus on the LSAT. If you take this option and practice accordingly you will hit somewhere in the high to mid 160's.

Otherwise, don't have a high expectation of hitting a significantly higher mark in Feb exam. You have a lot of ground to cover and there isn't enough time.

If you do take the Feb exam, don't be disappointed at what you get. Because you have truly applied your best do to time work and certain circumstances.

I am not sure about your financials or goals to suggest option 2. However, what I can suggest is, if you are going to take the Feb exam don't worry too much about the mark you are going to get. Just enjoy the process and know that you did your best.

I hope this helps.

I will put it this way.

You want to write the LSAT. The cost is $US200.

Therefore, I can write the test.

The sufficient assumption would be anything above 200 dollars.

Say you negated this such that (you do not have $US500). Will this mean you don't have enough money to writ the test.

Clearly not. You could have 499 or 380 or 280 and so on. This is why negating sufficient will not work.

Now for the necessary.

Say you negate that you don't have at least 200. This will destroy the argument.

So one answer choice that the LSAT writers will put is this. "You have at least $US200". If you negate this ( I don't have 200) this will mean you cannot write the test.

This would destroy the above argument.

The rare case:

It is both sufficient and necessary to have 200 dollars to write the test.

But don't worry about this. You will hardly come up on a question that would test for both necessary and sufficient assumptions.

Hope this helps.

Good luck

Give it a shot. If you have been scoring in the 170's you are not gonna flunk in the test. I'd say train in the evenings. You can find out where you stand by taking at least two preps in that time slot you are scheduled to write the test. Between now and Saturday you have have more than enough time to see where you stand writing the test in the evening hours.

Hello everyone,

This thread so everyone can post their problems and solutions to equipment testing here.

For Chrome:

I ran the test, my internet passed and my system checked out as well. However, my mic and webcam were not checked green. Even though I can see my web cam was working.

What was the issue?

Apparently it couldn't measure the width or height of the camera, for the mic, it didn't even show what the issue was.

Did everything as described and still was not working.

For FireFox:

I installed firefox ran the test everything checked out. But, there was 1 issue.

The system check sign did not turn green.

Apparently, friefox has a setting where it disables websites from identifying your system info. Firefox calls this "fingeprinting".

Here is the link if you want to know more about fingerprinting and how to disable it:

https://superuser.com/questions/1578303/i-keep-failing-the-proctoru-testing-your-equipment-test-and-i-dont-know-why

Anyways

So my final result is that my, mic, webcam, internet and system, all checkout. Albeit, in different browsers.

If anyone figures the issue with Chrome, please post it. It will help the community greatly. f

Let's use this thread to help each other out and lower the stress levels.

Best of luck to everyone with the test.

I thought I had missed my email or the opportunity to sign up.

@ I am assuming you haven't received the email as well.

Hello everyone,

I hope everyone is on track on their studies.

I am a Canadian from Toronto, Ontario and so far I have not yet received an email from LSAC to sign up for the proctor u.

Anyone else facing this issue in Canada or anyone in general?

Ohh man! Damn, Damn it!

Same here. I wish I was in one of those other post where I say "I got the mark I wanted".

Unfortunately not!

I got a mark that I was not expecting. I definitely scored lowered than what I was PTing.

This sucks!

But, I am gonna keep moving forward and sit for the April one. I have a couple of exams and practice material left.

I am hoping I get my mark in April. At this point giving up would futile. It would be wasted effort and time if we don't continue and get what we aimed for.

Just remember the guy who went out and was searching for gold in the example given by Napoleon Hill in his book "Think and grow rich" though I think it should be named "Philosophy of success".

For anyone who doesn't know the example given by Napolean, I think it is good motivation to learn it.

Good job! Hark work pays off. I got my score back today as well. I unfortunately scored lower than my practice PT's.

Gonna give it a shot in April or this month again.

I understand your frustration. I had originally planned to take the Nov test. After taking 79 I freaked out and delayed it to Jan. Even though I was scoring in the mid 160's I got a 148 on 79. I am not sure what it was. Maybe it was the advil I took for the headache I had. Regardless, I've been reading that the test get harder after pt 79. I hope I made the right decision for delaying. I had not pt'd any of the 80's. Thought the 70's would be good enough.

But good luck on your test kimble, don't let it freak you out like it made me trip:(. The RC in 79 was brutal. And I've also noticed the LR was harder than usual.

Maybe I should've taken the Nov exam, now I have to spend another two months in my room locked up.

Thanks for your comment. Helped me a lot. I had saved pt 60's and 80's. I am taking the test in January and I think the best thing to do is PT the 80's.

I also feel like some test are easier than others. I am not sure if you feel like this. For example, in the early Pt 70's I was getting high 160's and even broke the 170 ceiling. When I passed pt 76 I noticed I wasn't able to predict the answer choices very well in LR, RC was getting harder and they would throw in a weird game in LG. TBH, I believe LUCK plays in an important role on test day. RC vary's soo much from PT to PT that some of them are extremely easy for me and on occasion I would struggle on others.

Well sorry for going on and on.

I hope you get the mark that you want. And I wish you best of luck..

@.miko

I wrote PT 72. I scored along my average. However, the last game in LG threw me off. It was worded very oddly. As a result my points dropped a little bit. However, I've been reading that test get harder once you hit PT 79 and onward. So if your taking an exam say in january or feburary I'd starting PTing those ones to get familiar with them.

Hey Guys!!

I've been studying for the past 9 months. And have consistently scored mid 160's in the past two months while PTing. For some reason Pt 79 my score dropped. Drastically!! I am talking high 140's :(

Anybody else have significant drip with PT 79. Or just have a huge drop in general. Is this common? Should I try not worry about it too much.

IF the Median is 173 and you have a decent undergrad GPA (in other words not superb) go ahead and retake. The difference between 173 and 175, 176,177 and so on is small in number of questions you get right or wrong but makes a big difference when they are assessing your profile. Trust me if you know for sure you will score higher than 173, I suggest a retake. In fact I suggest you sign up for two more exams. If you satisfied with the first one than cancel the next.

It takes alot of effort to get a score like that while working full time. Trust me I know exactly what it takes. Especially if your not a natural in this test. Great JOB. This is a huge accomplishment. Keep it up.
