To me, the assumption that answer choice E requires you to make is that "apprehension" of a car thief implies that the thief is unable to commit any additional thefts after the apprehension. Perhaps this is reasonable: the thief is arrested and then put in jail and can't make bail so he stays in jail until he's sentenced to life in prison. However, to me it seemed equally reasonable to make no such assumption. Suppose the car thief was "apprehended" and put in jail but then he made bail or was let go with a warning and quickly stole another 100 cars from among the majority of cars without the device installed. Then answer choice E doesn't seem has helpful to resolve the stimulus.
Posting simply to explicitly call out what I believe is an assumption that choice E requires one to make.
This is a very helpful thread for me who has so far been waitlisted at four different schools. I'm curious how many schools others have been waitlisted at this cycle? Does it seem like schools are waitlisting more candidates this year, perhaps in response to the high applicant volume?
