Like most of us, my applications are all submitted and complete or under review. I have maybe 2-3 schools that I am still waiting on and would definitely go to. Is it too late to send a "Why X" essay? Not sure how these are done. Is it weird to send one when you app is possibly in the middle of being reviewed? Is it bad? If I do send one, I'll be emailing it in. I'm really nervous about this cycle. I don't have the best numbers and just got rejected at UVA. It wasn't my top choice by any means but I am desperate right now and lots of my apps are still pending.

I just got an email about UVAs decision a few minutes ago. I know this means it’s probably a rejection. I’m scared to open it
HELP! Not sure if this is right, especially considering commas and quotes. Can someone please critique?
“Class, this is Sarah! Everyone say hello!" I hoped my teacher would skip this part.
I said "hey there" when she approached.
I applied to NYU pretty close to their deadline and sent an update re my Feb. Score. I literally haven't heard a peep out of them since the confirmation email that you receive right after sending in the application. To top it off, I went to their website today and clicked on the "status check" link and got an error message. I only tried it a couple of times this morning so maybe it's crashing due to checks but has anyone else had this issue? I know I submitted close to their deadline, but that was a while ago and I haven't even gotten an email saying my application is "complete", which I have already gotten from all other schools.
So I'm 26 and living on my own. My parents are divorced and don't financially support me anymore since I have a good job. I saw that some schools require parent info even if you are already 26. To top it off, FAFSA asks for information for only one parent. Anyone in a similar boat or know which parent to choose? I'm very confused
Has anyone heard anything from any of their schools today?
Apparently Fafsa is using our 2016 tax return this time around as opposed to our 2017 return. Is that right?
Hey! So I applied to about 14 schools and am still waiting to hear from 13 of them...BUT I just got accepted to a school (not my dream school but still good) with a deposit deadline due April 10 and a scholarship acceptance deadline by April 3. What should I do? I don’t think I’ll get most of my decisions in by those dates at all, since I applied close to the deadline for most of them (took the Feb LSAT)
Has anyone heard from GULC recently (within the last 2 weeks?)
So basically ^ the brand

Sorry! Should have been more specific. All three I assume. I’ve heard at least rejections and acceptances

Huge decision wave Saturday
Did anyone on here get the Vandy “hold” email? Just curious. I’ve yet to hear anything from them
My boss wrote me a good letter of rec for law School and her birthday is coming up on Tuesday. I have a few books I think she may enjoy. Since she’s my current boss, would a book (or any gift past a card) be inapparoriate to give? I sent her a thank you card for the letter but she also gave me a huge (monetary wise) gift for Christmas and of course wrote my law school letter. She’s only been my boss for 1.5 years at this point. The book I’m thinking of giving her is technology related (close to her field)
Quick question: what's the difference? Also do you address a director as "dean" like if someone's title is "Assistant Director of Admissions Barney Purple" Do you say "Dean Purple"?
I noticed my Michigan law application didn’t have my extra par of extracurriculars and activities so I sent in an addendum as instructed over the phone by the admissions office. THEN I noticed that my attachment was incorrect so I sent another one out in a panic, saying here’s the correct PDF- my apologies.
I feel so stupid! Am I screwed? I know I sound crazy right now
I think you should def include #1. Schools want to know that you WILL go there if accepted off the waitlist - it's something they consider when they admit off WL (their yield). If Factor #1 is very important to you, definitely include it in there to convey that.
for #2 I'm not sure but I'm sure others on here will be more helpful about it...you obviously don't want your vibe to be "I'm waitlisted everywhere so please be the one that takes me in"
I visited a school today where my app is still pending. Met a director of adminssions. Would it be a bad idea to email her a thank you? Met her through the “info lecture” and asked some questions with her directly after.
Just got WL'd at BU 3.4 GPA 160 LSAT.
I am dying here
Turns out they really liked my application, my GPA just wasn't there, so we talked about some things I could do, I did those things and they were happy, the offer came in the same afternoon.
@ if you don't mind, what do you mean some things you could do? Like were those in line with changing some stuff on your app? I'm curious because obviously you can't change the LSAT or GPA in a day. If you don't mind sharing or even PMing I would appreciate it.
Anyone hear from NYU today? Apparently they are sending out calls.
I’m in a tiring cycle of checking and refreshing to no avail.
Further - is it possible these schools are waiting for your GPA issue to resolve itself? I vaguely remember you saying you’ve notified them of the LSAC issue. Maybe they don’t realize it wasn’t resolved?
For the schools you’re still waiting on- when did you apply? It could be a good sign that they’re still considering your file
I'm visiting Georgetown this week. Maybe I'll see her around :hushed:

You visited UCLA recently right? Maybe send them a thank you for the visit? I assume you already sent LOCIs?
At this point, it's a matter of standing out I think. Sorry - not much help at this point. Maybe you could contact Spivey or another admissions advisor on what you could do with those WLs.
I was thinking about that but they are freaking expensive. I have a ton of family pressure to attend law school this cycle....this is rough!
Eeep! Even if you just email for a one-time consultation? I have no idea since I never tried contacting them directly. It could be worth it though, if you end up with your top choice law school (but only do a one time consultation...I wouldn't advise further).
I def. feel you on the need to go this cycle. I've been putting it off for a few years now and I really need to go this coming fall. I've only heard from 3 schools (one accept, one reject, and one waitlist) and am waiting on 13 more for any response.

@ Haha when I visited Georgetown I talked with some 1Ls that said they hadn't seen her yet.
YET!?!? I mean does she even go to class then? I'm sure some people would have had classes with her by now right??
Several Questions:
What would you recommend for reading for our summer prior to law school?
How do you balance your workload and organize your notes?
What types of jobs are you seeing a lot of 1Ls gunning for in the summer? What did you do for your 1L summer?
In general, how much time do you spend studying/how much time should we expect to study for our classes?
Can I just say that I saw your posts about Logic Games from wayyyy back when you were still working on the LSAT. Legend status!

Another WL today...Duke.
So now my Wait-lists are:
Duke
UVA
Penn
Mich
UCLA
ND
Lol with these odds, I HAVE to be able to get off at least one WL right? lol
How many more are you waiting on?
Guys....I know I'm a late applicant and everything but I'm really going insane with this wait. I don't know how the rest of you who've applied in the Fall are doing it right now.
Has anyone ever been on one and what should I expect? This is not to be confused with a Georgetown interview. I'm expecting a tour and maybe a class visit but honestly have no idea.
Any updates today? I'm expecting/hoping for some waves this week.
I just discovered a school I want to apply to but I’m a bit pst their priority deadline. It was March 1 and today is March 9. What should I do? Their regular/ full stop deadline is a few months away but of course I plan on submitting this ASAP. What does applying past priority mean?
I'm in a similar boat, with a deadline coming up on the 16th. I agree with @ - wait until the deadline to deposit. Worst case scenario is you have that deposit in. At that point, if you get accepted to another school after you deposit - call the school with that 4/20 deadline or look into their fine-print. Lot's of times, there's a clause in there that states a date you can withdraw by to get SOME (if not all) of the deposit money back.
I'm literally dreaming about admissions offices for the schools I've applied to. 4 dreams now. It's all I think about.
Is anyone else feeling this way? I’m working a 9-5 job and am increasingly feeling unsatisfied with it. Just feeling like I’m in limbo and going crazy while I wait for Law School moves for next year. Literally can’t wait till I quit this place! I’m frustrated because I need the money but can’t leave since I’ve only a few more months to go...but man this place drives me crazy

When I was admitted it was only mail yes. No e-mail, call, or anything.
Nerve wracking! I’ve been lax with my postal mail for a while because I thought everyone would email (regardless of decision). Thanks!
GT's acceptance letter is very deliberate. The type of paper, the size of the letter, the text, the print, the little space for a handwritten note at the end. I really appreciated receiving the hard copy before the email.
Sounds luxurious and thoughtful. Maybe one day I’ll get one and see for myself!

I’ve heard from the inter webs that Georgetown only mails acceptances (as in, no email or call) is that true?
Obviously deposit deadlines are coming up (one of mine is April 16) and while I understand there's still a few days left before that, I truly have not heard from any other schools other than one acceptance and one waitlist. I'm waiting on about 14 other schools and I'm sure I'm not the only one. I applied right at deadline but the deposit deadlines still don't change. If I don't hear back by a school's "known" deposit deadline, should I just assume I've been rejected?
Does anyone have an example for this? Don't even know how to start a second LOCI. Do I reference my first LOCI in it? Any advice would be appreciated on how to even frame such a letter. I am waitlisted at my top school and recently found out about a program very unique to this school that I believe would be helpful to my career. Would mentioning it now (in a second letter) be odd? I don't want to come off like I didn't do my research before but the info on this program was just not where I was looking before.
Got waitlisted at William & Mary last week. I admit I applied late and my stats are right in their medians. In addition I am URM with substantial work experience. Anyway, I log on to LSN today and see a 154 with a 3.4 GPA undergrad get accepted without a waitlist offer??? We even submitted our apps around the same time.
Here's the accepted student's profile: http://lawschoolnumbers.com/NCO1996
Sorry - I know this sounds completely narcissistic and obnoxious but...seriously? This whole cycle is just getting at me. If anyone has insight or would care to rant about this cycle...feel free to do so here.
Does NYU send out notification if you are under review for first second or third rounds? I saw something on reddit that indicated that NYU applicants can see if they had several “under review” dates. I’ve been “under review” since late Feb, or at least that the status date on my status checker...
Any recommendations?
I know it's early to think about this, but what are some typical/ideal jobs for the 1L summer? I know for your 2L summer you should be looking at law firms, but I heard firms are increasingly hesitant to hire 1Ls. Just trying to get idea since I really haven't heard much about the 1L summer.
In a quest for desperation, I wandered into Reddit. Apparently Fordham may be sending out decisions at around 4pm today (the time is according to the grapevine and the date is according to Fordham's twitter)
Are there some schools that are for sure just doing WLs and rejections from this point on? Still waiting on my top top schools right now but have gotten 1 acceptance, 2 WLs and 3 rejections already
