P.S. I have 3 LORs on file and have started my personal statement. I have people lined up to revise my essays and my resume has been reviewed by a number of colleagues. I feel like the brunt of the application work has already been done, but weighing the risks of applying late has been daunting.

Need Application Timeline Advice:

Hi everyone! I am very new here but I am feeling the love, so thank you. Long story short, I took the October 2020 Flex and got a 149 (very sad). I am registered and am preparing for the January '21 retake. 7Sage is really making me feeling like I've got a much better handle on the LSAT and I've only been on here for 2 days! My main question is: should I wait for the next admissions cycle ('21-22) to apply? I am definitely looking at a variety of mid-top law schools depending on my next LSAT score and my GPA (3.85). My goal is to obviously get admitted but also to receive scholarships. I am 23 years old and will be graduating with a SPED degree in December with years of experience in the education field, so I definitely have time to refine my application, I just need help weighing the pros and cons! Any advice or personal experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so so much and best of luck to everyone!!

@ No worries! I am in need of raw advice. I know the best thing to do is to retake the exam and refine my foundational skills. I also know that I needed more time to practice, so taking the time between now and January will be really beneficial. Thank you so much for offering your guidance and support. For someone who is new to this community, what are your recommendations for using these study materials?

Same here. Scored a 149 (yikes) which was well below my PTs. Honestly I am kinda shocked given my PTs were near 160. I am feeling insecure about going for a top school and worried about applying to a mid-tier and not getting any scholarships. My GPA is 3.85 and I have an extensive teaching background. Not sure where to go from here, but I guess I will see you in January (lol)!

@ Thank you so much! I know it’s a lot to reach for, but I have faith in myself. I just need to get back on the study train! Haha

@ I averaged my PTs and got 156. I couldn’t believe I scored almost 10 points below where I was PT’ing. I used the LSAT Trainer and the 10 Actuals. I literally could not have prepped my body, mind and soul more for this test. My goal is to go to Harvard and dive into their child advocacy/education clinic. I’m worried about my timeline if I retake in January but I’m more worried about applying with a 149 and getting rejected.

Feeling defeated

I got a 149 and I’m so sad. Any advice? I am retaking the exam in January. Is there hope for someone like me with a killer GPA and a teaching background to go to a place like Harvard?

#help I know this has been brought up before, but captions would make JYs content so much more accessible! I have a hard time focusing without following along with the words and of course people with limited hearing ability would benefit from CC. Thank you!

I felt like I was the one writing this post! This is so relatable to me. I decided to go to law school in the summer after trying to figure out what I wanted to do once I graduated. My degree is in special education and I’ve always wanted to help people with disabilities outside of the education sector. So I took a huge chance on myself and started studying for the October LSAT in July (lol). I failed miserably in my opinion (149), but decided to go for it again in Jan. However, i work full time and noticed I was really slacking in my study group and was not performing well on PTs and I was not getting through the 7Sage material. My brain was just blocked and I had no direction or schedule.

I live with ADHD and chronic pain that honestly renders me so useless sometimes, especially when I’m exhausted from work and when I’m experiencing a lot of pain. With all that in mind, and cracking under the pressure, I decided to move my test to February (i might push it further) and request accommodations. I made the decision that I am just not ready for law school (especially the 1st year!) with all the issues I’m having during this pandemic/studying, not to mention I’d have to pack up and move somewhere by August. After making the decision to wait, I felt like I could finally breathe! The LSAT was making me resent my own intellect and focus on my “can’ts “ rather than my “yet’s”. If you are feeling this way at all it is best to do what is best for yourself. A piece of advice to leave with anyone reading this is try not to get to the point where you’re hating the LSAT. The LSAT is not doing this to you, YOU are choosing to do the LSAT :) much love you guys.

I have a discord that might help you :) i am retaking in January and have a very regular study schedule:

Monday’s and Fridays: PT

Review weaknesses through the week

Weekends: Video/voice chat about the latest PT and questions I missed/strategies for studying

I’m a full time teacher so my study schedule is pretty strict! I am going for 170+ so I’d love some study tips on how to improve from the 160s :)
