I don't know how to figure out the "ties."

"Now, the researcher claims to have discovered a substance of which only one molecule is needed to activate any sweetness receptor."

I don't know how this statement was translated/explained as "we can't beat it (UPPER CAP)."

I understand the last sentence, "one molecule is enough to activate the sweetness receptor, but it is the best or only way to activate it because there is no support to think that way."
