I was wasting a lot of time on this question creating a map as well until I immersed my focus on the conclusion and noticed the word "Able". At that point, I had an epiphany realizing I wasn't trying to prove that they WILL determine if aliens exist, rather I was trying to prove that they would be ABLE to determine if aliens exist. And only answer choice D addresses that.
