@ thank you again Alex for your advice much appreciated as always! I will continue fool proofing and will return to the CC if need be. I am planning on writing the LSAT in September and hope that I will see some improvement before August. If not, I may postpone it.

Logic Game Advice

Hey everyone,

Its been little more than a week of fool proofing after completing the logic games lessons in the CC and I have completed all of the the logic games in the first 10 PTs. So far, I am averaging about 11-13 mins/per game (not section) and usually get 1-2 questions wrong/per game. However, after watching the LG explanation videos, I pick up on the inferences and do the same games in half the time and rarely get any questions wrong.

I know its only been a week of fool proofing, yet I kind of feel discouraged as my time has not seen any significant change after the first 40 games (i.e., I am still taking about 45 mins per LG section). Is this progression relatively normal? I want to continue fool proofing, yet at the same time, I don't know if I should review the lessons before moving forward with the next 100 games. Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

Recording yourself while practicing.

I cannot thank the 7sage community enough for the advice of recording oneself. I shot up 8 points after one session of recording myself. It is amazing how much time you can spend on a question without even realizing it, and how little time you can spend on an entire passage or game set-up. Timing is a huge deal and recording yourself is the way to go.

Thank you again 7sage!

Thanks everyone for your advice! I really appreciate it. I should have waited before doing that one PT, and kind of regret it now.

Halfway PT?

Should you do a PT to see if you have made progress halfway through the CC? Or is it better to wait until the CC has been completed fully? (I did PT 37 to see if I made any progress and feel as if I wasted it).

@ thank you so much Alex! I always look forward to hearing your advice. I think over-confidence with RC really hit me hard, and I kinda let go of the fundamentals during logic games for two whole games. I will continue fool proofing and will continue learning strategies for RC. I do plan on doing some earlier PTs to see where my weaknesses truly are (1 post pt may not be truly representative). Also, time isn't a big deal, I am planning on writing the LSAT in September 100% due to the fact that my dream school considers your highest score only (I have talked to the advisors carefully about this and they have ensured me that two distinct LSAT scores will not hurt my app in anyway). I am, however, open to writing the December test as well, yet for personal reasons I do have to write it before December. Hopefully, I get 160 or above before then.

@ I am aiming for anything above 160! A 162 and my GPA would likely get me into one of the best law schools in Canada. Hopefully I reach that goal in a month or so. But, its comforting knowing that I am not the only one in the same boat. Thank you so much.

152 timed score with a 176 BR score

Hey everyone,

I have finished the CC and decided to do a PT from the 40s to see if I have made progress. I got one point above my diagnostic, a 152, and got 176 on BR.

During the timed portion I received -8 on LG, -13 on LR (-5/-8) and -13 on RC. I have foolproofed every game from 1-20, and have done every RC section from 1-20 as well.

Do you guys think there is still room for a significant improvement before September, considering my BR score? I just feel very upset and discouraged as I was confident going into and during the test.

Thank you in advance!

Hey thank you everyone for the insight. I think it was just a case of burnout as well, I will definitely not lose hope and will continue trying my best. Once again thank you all for giving me some needed motivation! @ @ @ @ @

One thing that I found detrimental to my studies was comparing myself to others. Some people study for a day and get above 170, some study for months and never reach a score above 150.

My advice would be focus on your own studying, finish the CC, and see where you personally feel in August. UBC also takes your December score, based on my knowledge. So assuming you don't have any other conflicts, you could also write it in December if you aren't feeling ready.

@ My nerves were starting to get better, I was finally starting to feel confident with timing and then today everything seemed to go back to where I was at before I started seeing improvement (not keeping track of time, not skipping, forgetting about the strategies, etc.). Everything felt like a big blur and for LG and LR I did not get enough time to do a lot of questions. I skipped an entire game and a half on LG and then on LR I barely got to the last questions.

Feeling Discouraged... Again.

Hey everyone, hope your studies are going well!

On my last two recent prep-tests I received a score of 156 on PT 65 (with a 178 BR), and then 161 on PT 50 (with a 180 BR). And then... just when I thought I was finally starting to improve into the 160 zone, I received a score of 151 on a prep-test today (PT 67) (the same as my diagnostic).

I do admit that I did not get enough sleep and was stressed due to other things going on in life today. Regardless, it still feels as if I am really far away from my goal of 161-163 and this one test just crushed any feelings of progress that I thought I had been making.

I am aiming for the September test and realize my timing may be an issue as well, my question is should I take a week off doing PTs and just focus on intensive timed drilling with timed LR and LG game section drills (with BR and fool-proofing) from PTs 25-35? Or do you think review where I went wrong thoroughly, and continue on with more PTs?

Any advice would be very appreciated,

Thank you

Yes, the question bank, all the test explanations, the ability to re-print out the tests and all the drill sets make it all worth it! Best value on the LSAT on the market!

Blueprint charges $200 a month for their starter set and it includes a 20th of 7Sage. Also, JY is just a likable guy and a pedagogical god amongst men. He really has the power to teach this stuff. Manhattan boasts their 99th percentile instructors, but at the end of the day my experience with them was being smart doesn't translates into teaching well.

I'm really good at Chess. Like really good (I'll brag, won tournaments, etc) . Been playing my entire life. I cannot for the life of me teach anyone beyond the basics.

JY just has a gift of teaching and making these complex ideas I liken to chess simple and digestible. And the 7Sage Ultimate + package is all you need to succeed. That, and just two more things: Discipline and time!

Awesome thank you so much for your insight! I think I will upgrade very soon.

Drilling to learn RC?

Hey everyone,

I have just started to add RC into my prep. So far I have drilled about 4 RC sections without keeping a strict time clock (i.e., I give myself about 8-11 mins on each passage) and I typically get -1 to 0 on each full section.

My question is, should I keep drilling RC sections as my only way to learn RC? Or is it safer to use additional prep material (e.g., the LSAT trainer) before drilling sections further?

Any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

Ultimate Plus?

Im considering upgrading my course from starter to ultimate plus, but would it be worth investing in ultimate plus, if you already own all the LSAC PT series books?

Timing upwards or downwards while practicing?

Hey everyone! Hope your LSAT studies are going well.

I am currently in the process of fool-proof drilling logic games (on PT 15), and usually set a timer upwards. Yet, I realize that I tend to go way over time for many of the games.

My question is should I start timing myself downwards using the suggested time as a limit. Or would it be better to keep timing myself upwards to see my natural pace.

Thank you.

In the process of fool proofing (currently on PT 15) and I have one lesson left for LR. I plan on dedicating all of July and August on PTs (1-2 per week) with blind review, drilling for weaknesses, and fool-proofing. I may postpone though and may do fewer PTs if my average PT score is below my target during August.
