I try to tell people that it's a lengthy multiple choice exam involving heavy logical reasoning and reading comprehension of information-intensive content under extreme time pressure. That it's not a matter of memorizing facts and regurgitating them back, but a matter of manipulating your mind through logic problems. I usually throw in the fact that the test writers understand the psychology of the average test taker and therefore do their best to make incorrect answers the most attractive.. and by then the person who asked is no longer interested in hearing anymore haha!

I take an omega-3 supplement that contains EPA and DHA to help with my focus (along with a balanced diet, exercise and fresh air). It may not work for everyone but it seems to work for me. I got the recommendation from a nutritionist who own's their own health foods store. I specifically asked what could help with increasing concentration. I've been taking the supplement for almost two years now and highly recommend.

Following this! I rescheduled from October to November and just checked my ProctorU account, it also indicates my status is "pending" for the October Flex waiting to schedule.

Best Approach to LR? 7Sage, The Loophole, PS, etc.

For those of you who have mastered LR: Did you incorporate information from various resources such as 7Sage, The Loophole (by Ellen Cassidy), Powerscore, etc. or focus solely on 7Sage?

From previous conversations I've gathered some supplement 7Sage with The Loophole.. before I dive into this approach is there any advice for potentially avoiding any confusion (conflicting explanations, for example)?

Any insight would be appreciated, thanks!

For some reason I interpreted "arrowheads" = "spears"... and that's the reason why I didn't select AC E... smh.

Pre-Test Review: "Cheat Sheet"

I feel most comfortable warming up for a PT (and presumably the real thing) with a couple easy LG and LR questions, although my question for experienced test takers is: do you have a "cheat sheet" with helpful hints/reminders that you have built up over your studies, that you prefer to review right before testing as opposed to practicing questions? If so, how helpful have you found this and would you recommend?

I spent a month or so strictly following the 7sage syllabus but got restless as I wasn't exposed to anything other than LR, so I began to alternate, incorporating days focused on LG and RC and I'm happy I did. I felt more at ease once I began touching base with all three, gaining a holistic foundation and slowing building my confidence.

Are you referring to the questions throughout the CC which JY explains? Then yes, I would click "quick view" and attempt the question first before watching the explanation video. I found I wasn't actively engaged in the explanation video if I didn't attempt it on my own first. And instead of passively absorbing JY's advice I would be proactively listening for the necessary steps/hints.

I've heard feedback from (initial) flex test takers who warned others to avoid the highlight/underline tool as it was inaccurate and cost them valuable time. I'm wondering if the software has been updated since the original flex rolled out? Have any test takers experienced an improvement? Or should I stick with the advice of "don't even bother"?

Take a few days off! I felt similar after writing the August flex and I was scheduled to write the October flex. I took a few days off and waited until my brain felt rejuvenated. When I returned to drilling and PTing, I made connections I hadn't before and saw improvement. I know taking time off with a few weeks before the test may feel counterintuitive, but I think pushing on and forcing yourself through burnout could cause more harm than good!

!TW! Horror story ahead... Advert your eyes.

This was my third time writing the LSAT, I have used the same form of photo ID every time. My Proctor claimed it was not an accepted form of ID and asked for my passport. My Government issued drivers license did not pass the test. I told him I did not own a valid passport and he told me to wait while he got confirmation that my ID would suffice.

Thinking I wouldn't be able to write then ten minutes later, he agreed that yes my ID could be accepted. So carried on.

LR-RC, went great, felt strong. Returning from my break. I went through the security screening again and then instead of entering the password allowing me to continue, the Proctor exited the window. She then spent some time trying to get back in but ProctorU was not responding. Well 45 minutes later and being passed around to 4 different tech support workers, ProctorU insisted my computer was failing to connect to their software and that my camera wasn't working. I explained how I had successfully passed all tech tests prior to today and that I just successfully wrote half of my exam without issue. She indicated that we needed to restart my computer.

Once my computer restarted, the ProctorU chat box came up right away. The same tech support woman let me know that my computer was still the issue. I had a sneaking suspicion that my computer had never been the issue, ProctorU just did not want to admit to their failures. She gave me two options, to switch to a another computer that I own or reschedule my test. I do not own a second computer, as this one is new and high functioning. I did not agree to a reschedule and instead I asked AGAIN how this could be an issue on my end?

Without a response, the exam popped up and told me I was set to begin the 3rd section within 59 seconds. I was grateful that I could finish and utterly surprised. Talk about an emotional rollercoaster. That being said my final two sections were LG-RC. LG I generally score -2/-3 and I felt as though I bombed. I had already checked out mentally, I tried to check my emotions and get my head in the game but I simply couldn't. Going into the last RC I was distraught. A year of studying, time, energy and money potentially all down the drain.

Flex - Reading out loud?

I caught myself reading out loud, very quietly, under my breath while taking PTs. Is this a habit the microphone will pick up? Will the proctor interrupt and request I remain silent during testing?

Just curious. Hoping to hear from those who have already written the flex.

I originally chose (B) but changed to (A) on the BR. During the BR I convinced myself (B) was incorrect because it introduced a new idea and sticking with (A) would be the "safe bet". Then upon follow-up review I realized why my gut chose (B) to begin with for a reason!

The Loophole introduces the "omitted option" of "new factor causing one or both" when discussing causal reasoning and my gut knew (B) provided the necessary flaw. Note to self: sometimes spending too much time dissecting a question can produce a negative result!

Clean your environment (or declutter that one junk drawer you've been putting off until after you write) 2) Watch an emotional movie: Marley & Me, My Sister's Keeper, etc. Have a good cry and get it all out. 3) Have a bath and read a couple chapters of a good book, try to relax your mind and body before crawling into bed.

Good luck, you will be fine!

Just finished, LR-LG-RC. Got caught off guard when my proctor did not mute himself. I asked over the microphone (as time was ticking) and didn't get a response, so then quickly pulled up the chat box. Once he saw my message he apologized and quickly muted himself but it definitely threw me off and it took me getting through half of my first section to re-focus. Other than that, the questions themselves seemed pretty average, there isn't one question in particular that will cause me nightmares. Cheers everyone!

Using a Desktop Comp for Flex

I've written a flex before and used my laptop, it was easy to show my environment to the proctor by lifting/moving my laptop entirely. I'm going to be writing this week's flex on a desktop with a built in camera. To experienced flex writers who have used a desktop, how did you show the proctor your environment?

Thanks!

Visited this post and had me thinking, can anyone recommend the best podcast episode for RC advice??

Yes, that sounds right. I was hesitant once the program prompted the "pre-exam advisory" although once you get to the "writing screen" you will be reassured its just a practice run through. I found it beneficial to go through the additional process because it made me confident my computer has everything set up properly for the actual writing sample and flex.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
