Cancel or no ?

Hi everyone, I am need of advice.

I wrote the LSAT yesterday. I don't think I did too well. I have a feeling I am going to write it again. I am debating if I should cancel it ? If I cancel it, will this appear on my record ? But at the same time, I think it would be smart to get an idea how I did. I am just worried that if the score is too bad, it may look bad on my application.

Any advice would be appreciated :)

I am also from Canada. The first time I wrote the LSAT was January 2018. I had also applied to all the schools in Ontario. I indicated on my application that I will be writing the exam in January, so they did wait for me. I remember that all the schools got back to me after seeing my results.

I do want to add from my personal expereince, I regret writing the January LSAT because I did not do too well on it and didn't get in anywhere. I ended up wasting money on the applications. I should have gone for the earlier exam, atleast I could have written it one more time and maybe got in that cycle.

However, I also read on one of the discussion boards from another student who waited to write the LSAT in January and got in their top choice school.

Writing the LSAT in January is a little risky I believe, but it really depends on what range you are scoring in a month or two in advance.

So see what works best for you :)

Help!!!

Hi everyone,

I really need some advice in regards to the LSAT. I have been studying on and off for the LSAT from the past 1 year. I started at around a 140. I am scoring around 150 untimed. I usually get 15-16 questions right per section. I did mention on one of the discussion boards before that I did two undergraduate degrees. I did poorly in my first one, and I did really well in my second degree. I went back to do a second degree for the purposes of going to Law School. Since I had to work super hard in my second degree to compensate for the low grades that I got in my first degree. I want to do the same for the LSAT. I want to show the admissions committee that my grades have an upward trend. My goal is to attain a 170 on the LSAT and I want to be realistic about this score. I was planning to take the exam in September and realized that I am not ready at all. I was planning to take it in October or November (mostly thinking of November). That gives me around 2-3 months. I don't know if that's enough to reach my goal. I am not working or in school, so I have time to study full time. I believe that I am struggling with coming up with a solid plan. I have finished the 7 sage course and I am also studying from the lsat Trainer. I am willing to dedicate as much time as this exam needs.

I get 2-3 questions wrong per game on the games. Sometimes it's stupid mistakes. Questions that I know I can get right.

I get around 15-16 right per LR section (untimed) It takes a while for me to wrap my head around the argument.

RC- I am struggling with timing.

I needed some advice should I redo the course ? and re-read Mike Kim's trainer ?. Or should I just drill questions from different sections ? Since drilling has helped me a lot in terms of seeing where I am getting questions wrong. After that I was planning to pick up my speed. I don't plan on taking a full time preptest any time soon, since I know I won't do good and don't want to waste a prep test. I am willing to dedicate as much time as this exam needs. I just want to make sure that I am going the right way about it.

Sorry the long post. I would really appreciate some advice :)

Thank You

Necessary Assumption Struggle

Hi guys,

I am writing the exam in January. I am still struggling with Necessary Assumption questions. I have gone through the core curriculum twice. I have read a power score book on it. I have tried the negation technique. I always get these questions wrong. If I can somehow get these questions right, it will make a difference in my mark. I would really appreciate some advice.

Thanks

LR advice

Hi everyone :). I would really appreciate some advice on the LR section of the LSAT. I have studied the LR section of the exam through 7 sage+ LSAT trainer. I have recently done around 5 sections untimed sections from multiple tests. I have been scoring around 15-16. I would really like to increase that score. I am wiring the exam in October and I want to get around 21-22 questions right under timed conditions. I was planning to keep doing full sections after sections till my score increases, and then time myself. I am also making sure that I read the explanation for why I am getting the questions wrong. I wanted some advice. Should I continue to do individual sections ? Or should I review the LR curriculum again ?

Thank You :)

Post CC strategy

Hi guys,

I started studying for the LSAT again a few months ago. And this time I took my time with the CC. I did my first PT over the weekend and got a 146. Although it is a low score, I have improved from my original score. I wanted to know how I should proceed from here? I wrote down all the questions that I got wrong and wrote down my weaknesses. I am planning to tackle each weakness per week- and then do a practice test over the weekend. Keep doing that till I hit my target score (which is 160-165). I wanted some input on this strategy? Or should I do something different? I am scheduled for the January test, If I go by this strategy, do you think I would be able to achieve my target score? Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks 😊

Frustrated....

Hi everyone,

I have lately been feeling really defeated and frustrated with this exam and the whole journey to law school. This is my second time applying to law school (Candian law schools). I wrote the LSAT last January and got a really low score. I started studying again mid July. I have started to hit 155 untimed. My aim is 160- 165. Even a 160 would do at this point. I have realized that you need to be patient with this exam. I have been wrong to expect immediate results. That has been my biggest mistakes. This time I am taking as much time as I need to study the concepts, and learn them well. I am also focusing on my weaknesses. I feel that will really help with increasing my score. My LG score ranges 18-22, but I struggle with timings. I am scoring 13-17 on the LR. In that area I keep getting the same type of questions wrong (which is good because then I just can practice on my weaknesses).

My question is,

Am I being realistic with thinking that I can go from 155 untimed to 160-165 timed by January. I do not want to make the same mistake and assume that I will be ready by a certain time. The reason why January is an option because majority of the schools I applied to accept that as the last score. Only 2-3 schools accept the February score, which is also an option). But that would be super late in the cycle, but would get me a good score.

Any advice would be appreciated. Really losing hope at this point :(

Thanks.

Last month- Logic Games

Hey guys,

I am writing the LSAT in January. I want to aim for -0 on the Logic games section. So far, I always get perfect on the sequencing games. Other games, such as In and out, grouping, sequencing twist games- I struggle a little bit on those. I know that if I practice a little bit more, I will aim to perfect those. In terms of the miscellaneous games, I still have a lot of work to do on those).

For the last month- I was planning to do PT 40- 70 (an entire LG section per day). I know that sounds a lot. But I am pretty comfortable with this section. I had a question, should I focus on games from 40-70 or should I do other prep tests. Some people say that if you want to improve on LG miscellaneous- then games from 1-35 are the way to go ? Or should I mix it up ?

Thank You :)

How to move forward ?

Hi guys,

I am taking the LSAT on January 13th, which is in two months. I have been hitting around the 155-156 range untimed. My diagnostic was a pretty low score, so this is a huge jump for me. I wanted to score around 165, a 160 would do as well. I am not doing anything else other than the LSAT. I have been thinking about drilling practice tests and just focusing on my weaknesses for the next few weeks. In the last month, I was planning to take full timed practice tests, 2-3 every week. I was wondering if this would be a good approach or should I try something different ?. Also, is increasing an untimed score of 155 to 160-165 timed doable in the next two months ?

Thank You

Yes, you can sign up for it twice. I wrote the exam yesterday and I signed up for the February one as a back up.

Two answer choices

Hey guys,

Hope studying is going well for everyone. I am at the stage of my LR studying where many times when I am doing a question, I find two answer choices attractive. And I am left between which one to choose. Sometimes I will get the question right and sometimes wrong. Any recommendations on how you guys approach this problem on LR questions?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Study Schedule Help

Hi guys,

I wrote the January exam, and it looks like I am going to write it again. I plan on writing it in September 2020. I am also looking for a job on the side, preferably part-time. If I cannot find anything part time, I was planning to go for full-time. I realized that I have been studying the wrong way for a while now. I was also pressuring myself a lot. I would like to restart everything again, and i want to take the slow and steady wins the race approach.

This is the strategy that I have in mind:

  • Perfect the CC (Mainly focusing on the weak areas- (2-3 months)
  • Untimed Practice Tests (1-2 months)
  • Timed Practice test. Start by doing one section after another (1-2 months).
  • I wanted to know that is this a good study plan ?

I believe that this method would work well with a part-time job. But if I end up landing a full-time job, would it also work ? Or should I write it after September ?

Lastly, is there a tutor or someone I can privately speak to in regards to study strategies ?

I would really appreciate it :)

    Thanks

    Two Degrees

    Hey guys,

I am planning to apply this November for all the law schools in Ontario. I did really badly on my first degree (2.5) However, I did decide to go back to school for a second degree and will be finishing with a 3.8. I rounded it up and my GPA increased to a 3.4. I don't know how the admissions committee will look at my profile ? Will they count my cumulative ? Should I apply outside of Ontario as well ? Just to be safe ? Has anyone gotten in with two degrees ? Where they had a major shift in marks

    Let me know :)
