Weaken questions

Hi guys,

One question ! I am actually not understanding how I should approach Weakening questions. I understand that you have to identify the premise (s) and conclusion of the stimulus, but from there I blank out as soon as I see the answer choices. Any advices ? Also, JY says that we should not attack the premise and conclusion of a stimulus, but when studying off of Power Score the book said to weaken an argument by attacking a premise or conclusion. I am very confused. Please help ! Thanks .

Hello everyone,

I am currently going through the CC, and I am having major difficulties with the parallel questions and the necessary questions. For the parallel reasoning + flaw questions, I do understand the answers for the easier questions but as they get more difficult and implement Formal Logic, my brain gives up on me. I’m having GREAT difficulty in translating lawgic to English. And I have no idea how to improve. I tried going back to the logic sections and I understand those lessons, but I really stumble with translating when I see real problems . Also for necessary assumptions, I just don’t know how to solve these problems. I understand what kind of answer I have to look for, but every time I see a new problem, I feel like I’m not understanding what I have to do fully.

Please give me any advice ! Thank you so much everyone

Hi guys,

I am currently a senior in college and I'm having extreme difficulty finding time to study for the LSAT. I haven't really looked at the LSAT for the three weeks because of school, and I really do not want for this to continue.

To briefly explain, I have classes, and also 22 hours of internship weekly. And because my classes are advanced seminars, I find myself doing my homework on the weekends with no time to study for the LSAT. Can anyone give me advice? I feel like some people have worse schedules than me, and do stellar on the LSAT. Please tell me how you guys studied for this exam. Also my goal is a 165 + and I have been hitting the low 150's. And I am thinking to take the test the earliest March 2019 or June/July 2019.

Thanks guys :)

Tutoring

Hello!

I am trying to study for the October test, aiming for a 165 +. I haven't taken the mock exam yet, but I safely assume that I am hitting around 150-155 right now? Because last year I was hitting around 151-153, and I have definitely improved from last year. However, I would like a tutor who I can meet in person once a week. Does anyone know a site where I can find information for tutors? Or an individual they have been tutored before who really helped with their studies? I saw Wyzant for tutors, but I would like to know if there other options as well.

Thank you!

Recommendation Letter

Hello everyone,

I am a recent college graduate who is preparing to take the test in October and apply for law school in the fall. However, I had some questions about recommendation letters. Currently, I am thinking of asking my 1) last semester history seminar professor who liked me and gave me a good grade 2) my writing professor freshman and sophomore year and 3) my internship supervisor who was previously a lawyer and I got along with very well.

But the problem is I was only able to ask my internship supervisor in person. I totally forgot to ask my professors because I was swept with finals and graduation :( And because I am out of college, I am not near my college physically.. I think email is the best option to ask my professor for recommendations currently. Also, I would like to give them the whole summer to write one for me, and I really need advice on the best way to format the email to formally ask for a recommendation.

And the questions I have are:

  • For my writing professor who I knew freshman and sophomore year, I wasn't really able continue contacting him after I took his class :( I got good grades and I really liked his class! Would it be okay to ask him for a recommendation even though I wasn't in contact for 2 years ??
  • For my history seminar professor, he seems to have really liked me and gave me a really good grade. I did mention to him during one of our meetings if he could write a recommendation letter for me if I apply for law school this fall, and he said I should let him know once I get serious again. However, my professor is really bad with emails.. He apparently still did not reply to one of my classmate's email, which she sent 3 weeks ago lolll.. Also, I'm just scared that " let me know when you get serious again" is a "yes" or "no." Maybe my professor didn't want to write me one??
  • On the email should I be sending them anything specific? Resume? Anything else?
  • Should I ask for any specific information? Like an email for me to register on CAS?
  • ** Please let me know anything I should know! Sorry that I seem so misinformed :( ** Thank you everyone

Oh okay. Thanks for the input everyone. I actually thought I would be able to do better than a 155 when I started studying. But because I kept plateauing around the same score recently, I decided not to cancel this test to see where my real weaknesses were. Really had trouble with timing even though I practiced. I guess I have to keep on practicing.

    Should I cancel my score?

    Hi everyone,

I took my LSAT test today, and it was absolutely atrocious. To be more specific about my situation, I am currently a senior in college and would like to apply for law school not for this year but for the year after. This September test was like a practice for me as I studied 3 months over the semester.

However I took today's test trying to score maybe a 155 or so, but I feel and kind of know I BOMBED IT. I guessed on so many questions on the RC, and couldn't even finish two games on the LG section. Also, I wasn't even sure of 90 percent of the problems on the LR questions... I am wondering if I should cancel ? This never really happened to me on my LSAT Practice exams and I was SHOOK the whole test. And I am really scared to hurt my confidence. Also I heard that admission offices don't like if an applicant took the LSAT more than three times ? So would it be better to cancel this score?

Please tell me what I should do honestly. I don't know. I'm really scared to see and get a 140 or something because that was my diagnostic score. That would really mentally exhaust me. Also my final goal is a 165 (+). I would like to ask how I can possibly reboot myself to study for March or June/July exam for a 165 (+).

    Thanks :(((

What to bring for test day

    Hey guys,

I will be taking the LSAT for the first time tomorrow, so can someone double confirm with me that I am bringing the right things ?

So I plan to bring a Ziplock bag with

  • #2 pencils
  • eraser
  • admission ticket
  • some practice problems to look at before the exam
  • watch
  • ID
  • Some kind of beverage and snack (What kind of snacks do you guys recommend?)
  • ** and last question, I will be leaving my phone at my house, but do you guys know approximately when the exam ends ? My parents will be picking me up and I wanted to give them a time frame assuming that the test will start at 9am **

Any other advice, please let me know !! THANKS

Thank you everyone ! The process definitely got a bit better while I practiced, however I am getting literally all of level 5 questions, and most of level 4 questions wrong. How do you guys go around doing these questions? I understand the stimulus in the questions, but due to the difficult nature of the passages I don’t grasp the assumption being made. Then I get more confused when I see the convoluted AC’s. Please help... I really lost so much confidence.

Please ignore my recommendations comment. I read your comment that professor upload on LSAC. How dumb of me :(

Thank you so much everyone, and sorry for not being clear enough. When I meant Fall 2019, I didn't mean I wanted to apply for this term. I meant I wanted to take the September or November test 2019 and possibly apply for the Fall 2020 applications. If not, the Fall 2021 applications. Sorry that I worded this so oddly. I will study hard and have in mind that I most likely will have to study more than 3 months to get the score I want.

-- And in regards to the recommendations and transcript, where do professors upload the recommendations, and how to I request a transcript from college? Sorry for the novice question.

    A graduating college student

    Hello,

I am a graduating senior who has majored in history / art history. I am very serious about applying to law school, as I would like to go into patent law/copyright law. I actually wanted to later work in an art institution like a museum or an auction house that needs specialists in copyright law :) But before I start dreaming too much, I will like some advice on how I should plan the next few months. My initial intention was to get a job and work in the art sector a bit more. I had several interviews, but ultimately I was rejected at the final rounds. I feel extremely bummed, because my plan isn't really falling through. And if I got a job, I was planning to apply in 2020 not in 2019. However, it seems like I won't be getting a full- time job and I have time to study during the summer. Should I focus on studying and apply in 2019?

  • The reason I am thinking to study and apply in 2019 is because my internship supervisor who went to law school, and got a really good score is encouraging me to study for the few months and apply in 2019. She is saying it's possible to get the score I want in the few months, which is in the high 160's.
  • ** disclaimer: I did start studying last summer and seemed to plateaued around low 150. Then I focused back on my undergraduate courses because I didn't want my GPA to drop.

Any advice will help! Thank you so much :)
