1) What's your weakest section? LR

2) What messes you up during the test? Is it "timing" (remembering that "timing" issues are rooted in knowledge issues) For sure timing. I have ADD and it takes me awhile to process information.

3) What question types mess you up? EX: is it weaken/MBT/MBF questions? Have you drilled those? The abstract questions that put the answers in abstract terms.

4) What passage types mess you up? Paired passages or passages that have a lot of abstract terms

5) Are you taking too many break days? Do you find yourself having to "get your mind in LSAT mode" more often than not? I usually don't have to get my mind in LSAT mode.

I really just started 7sage, and I just want to make the best of it. I had a tutor who used to write for LSAC. She didn't believe in "question types," but there are for sure questions types. She didn't really work out for me is what I'm trying to say. I went through LSAT trainer as well and I liked it, but I don't think I was PTing enough. I guess it's hard for me to pin point my weaknesses. I appreciate everyones advice. Feel free to DM me with any advice or if you want to know more about my situation. Again, I really appreciate anyone taking the time to give me some advice.

Thank you!

I was PTing around 159-160 before the test in test conditions. I should have mentioned that. I just want to score low 160s. I appreciate your advice.

Gaining back confidence

Hello everyone,

I'm new to 7sage, and I just wanted to reach out for some help. I took the February, scored a 153, and that was after selfstudy using the lsat trainer and a tutor. I studied roughly 4 hours day for 4 months. I felt like I did everything I could, and I felt prepared. But yet I didn't even get close to what I wanted. What does it really take to boost your score? How can I get my confidence back? I plan on taking the june LSAT, but I still feel defeated. Has anyone been in my shoes?

Thank you!

@ That helps a lot! Honestly as I was working today I had a few weakening questions.I really isolated the premise and conclusions. I focused more on what the supporting was saying/doing, and I found the correct answer choice just weakened the support. The answer choice was closely related to the support. I think I was struggling because I wasn't looking close enough at the premise and conclusion and I was distracted by everything.

I know this probably using "real world knowledge," but I can't shake the idea that when Sandy says "best" I interrupt that as it's a good time to play because you could win more money. I see best related to the prize and not the chances. If the prize was $1,000,000 after a year of no winners and then $100 the following week after someone won, it'd be best play the when price is high because I'd rather win more money. I know it's "best" chance to win, but it's hard for me see it that way. I'm probably incorporating too "real world knowledge" into my thinking.

Herpetology (from Greek 'herpien' meaning 'to creep'). This is almost as good at the trampoline enthusiast question.

I have the trainer. I liked it, and it was helpful. I might revisit it for these questions. Yeah strength and weaken are always the first lesson for every prep course so it's easy to forget haha. I went through the trainer the first time I took the LSAT (Feb 2015). I got a 153. However, I need/need a 160ish. I also had a tutor who wrote for the LSAT. The thing about tutors who wrote for the LSAT is they don't "don't believe in question types," so she kinda made me throw all that out the window. My biggest thing is time, and little errors ( missing things I shouldn't), and reading comp.I get -0 on games 98% of the time, so I got that going for me. I'm taking in in Oct and most likely Dec. If you have any other helpful advice feel free to share! Thank you!

That could be it. I think I miss the assumptions. It's my understanding the premises all make a tiny assumption that leads to the conclusion and the correct answer choice will strengthen or weaken that assumptio. It's strange thought because I do assumption questions well.

Strength and Weaken Questions

So I've seen A LOT of improvement on most of the question types. When I get to specific questions, I know exactly how to approach them and what to look for. I also can gage trap answer choices pretty well. However, It's like I'm completely blind on strength and weaken questions. Any advice on how to approach them? I've gone through the lessons a few times, but it hasn't helped much. These should be easy! You're just trying to strength and weaken, but some reason I can't do it!

@ I don't have the time to do a full BR test. I BR sections and for RL it's usually -5. As I've been getting back into studying this week, what seems to be a problem for me is just figuring out what works for me. I've almost learned too many methods and approaches, I went through the trainer, I had a tutor, and I did 7sage. It's kinda information overload at this point for me, and it's overwhelming trying to analysis what works for me and what doesn't. I guess I don't have a clear approach to the LSAT. There is so much out there for the LSAT, and it's hard to filter out the bs. I made this post because I'm feeling overwhelmed with all the information at my finger tips. I'm desperately searching for a good way to study that works for me.

I think I'll go back through each lesson and really dive into question types. I did that once for MBT questions and it really worked. I could answer any MBT, and quickly. However, it didn't seem to stick. I think my problem just comes down to timing. I need to improve timing and keep a decent amount of accuracy if I have any hopes for doing well on this test.

Very interesting. I looked into the no subvocalizing thing, but it didn't seem to help. Good to know it might not be worth trying to do.

I don't freeze up on the test. I'm actually pretty relaxed during the test. I think I just need to REALLY focus on timing. I was trying to decide If I should go back to the basics and try to focus on certain areas I need improvement on like different question types. After thinking about it, I realize it's pretty much just timing. I'm going to really key in on this issue and trying to get my brain to work and process faster. Thanks for your input!

I had a tutor that wrote for the test. I would freeze up in our sessions so I don't think she got a good read of my strengths and weaknesses. She also cost a lot of money, and I'm not trying to dump more money than I already have into this test. I think I'm just going to PT and work on timing. For Games I get -0 but I only get through 3 of the games in time. LR can be a toss up, but if I miss an LR it's usually just a little mental error. Little mistakes will happen I just need to work on limiting those. I usually only get to question19 on LR under time. I'm the worst at RC, but I'm going through a book and it's helping.

Looking for a Skype Study Buddy

I'm looking for anyone who is willing to help me out! However, it would be great to have a Skype Buddy who rocks at LR. I'm really good at games. I rarely miss a game question. So if you're good at LR and suck at games maybe we can help each other.

Thanks!

Should I change how I study?

I started studying last Oct with the trainer, and took the LSAT in Feb. I got a 153. I took a break and started studying in June and went through all the 7sage stuff and took the Oct test. I'm going to take the Dec LSAT regardless of my Oct score. I study 3 hours each morning. For LR I usually go through the LR questions on 7sage and then watch the explanation. I usually get through a section each morning. For RC I'm going through the Manhattan prep book. I'm good on games. I also do a PT on the weekend. I've been studying long enough and I'm familiar with most of the techniques involved with the LSAT. What should I do from here? What do people do after they go through all the basics? Should I go back over the basics? Should I just PT like crazy? My biggest weakness is timing. How can I improve that? I've tried so many things and nothing seems to improve my timing or get me scoring in the 160. This is my last time to take, and I need to figure out what's going to work for me. I'd appreciate any advice!

Thank you.
