It's not perfectly clear, but it is just a general rule that if you've taken the test 3 times or less they won't care about some lower scores. but if you've taken it 5 times, they will be more inclined towards averaging your scores, especially if you scored lower on the last or second last time.

don't cancel: schools will take your highest score if you've only taken the exam 3 times or less.

hello @ , David had a ton of good advice in that video. I would really hone in on the idea that you should start with your life events... as big or as small as they were. List them out and write significant things about them. Then more ideas and connections will come to your mind as you are thinking about these things. It's good that you mentioned your job. Now think about moments in that job...? Or possibly about any compelling reason why you want to go to law school? Keep going and keep brain storming. It doesn't have to be about those two topics. Just tell an interesting story. Your story will shape and your themes will develop after you brainstorm and start connecting the dots. Good luck! You got this!

@ and @aisling that sounds like good advice, I'll go ahead and move on when I'm pretty comfortable and I'll try to change it up every now and then to see what works better. Thanks!

Core Curriculum

When I'm going through the Core Curriculum, should I be going through every problem set available in my subscription before moving on to the next item?

@ Read every sentence carefully. Examine every word/phrase and make sure you fully understood it before moving on to the next one. It takes some practice, you may take some time to improve but the diligent effort will definitely bring your mental clarity/understanding to a higher level.

Digital Tester

I was wondering if anyone would share how they are using the Digital Tester to PT with 5 sections if they are even able to? I assume it would be pretty valuable to be able to PT with 5 sections using the digital tester without knowing which section isn't scored at the time of PTing. Thanks!

Does anyone have any advice on what kind of books/articles I could be reading to improve my overall reading comprehension, mental discipline, and ability to reason in general while I go through the core curriculum and start PTing. As a kid, I didn't read a lot so I would say I'm a bit of a slow reader and sometimes find myself reading twice to grasp what I just read. All advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I see a lot of people saying that LR felt really weird. While I agree that they have been changing how they approach wording the questions, the content and logic is still largely the same. You have to focus on premise/conclusion distinction and don't get thrown off by their referential phrasing. Take your time and do it slowly if you have to and skip like 2-3 questions if necessary. Sometimes nerves can get to you under test pressure. For this same reason, I did one whole LR section from the 80s the day of the test before the actual test to be in good practice and in my practice I got 19/26. I felt that prepared me for the LR section and I was able to approach it much more surgically rather than getting thrown off/confused by the test writers antics.

@ not very hard at all. Standard type of games we see in the prep tests. Nothing new. I did mess up on the 2nd game which cost me time, ended up having to guess one and then I didn't have time to finish the 4th game because of that. However, I remembered the game after I finished the test and I knew that it was an easy solve, it was just based on a key inference that wasn't overly difficult to spot but unfortunately I ran out of time.

@ To get better, you have to do the grunt work. Read lots of passages, blind review them all one at a time and figure out what was right and why and what was wrong and why. Watch JY's videos. You have to take your time and you will slowly improve on RC. Everytime you read, try to take away MP, author attitude, structure, purpose.

LR (26) RC LG

LR seemed standard, not overly difficult.

RC was tough, lots of questions in the last two passages and they were difficult. I got interrupted in the middle of a passage by the proctor because she couldn't see my head on webcam since I was close reading. That completely disrupted my flow so I started the paragraph again and ended up spending 5:30 just reading the first passage!

LG first game was simple, second game I had trouble making some inferences so I ended up guessing on one question and I lost some time. 3rd game I was able to do even though it was harder than the second one. I didn't have time to finish the 4th game and ended up guessing on 3 questions.

Banking on my LR section and my guesses being correct.

Two questions:

1)Everyone taking the LSAT in August will be automatically registered for LSAT flex? I ask because when I registered for the LSAT August date the option only gave me a "Houston Test Center" option.

2) Are there 3 scored sections and 1 experimental section for LSAT flex? Or is it just 3 scored sections?

Thanks!

Breaks between sessions

Does anyone know the length of the break between the 3 sessions on the Nov Flex test? Does the next session start automatically or is the break 30 seconds or a minute? Thanks!

Hi @ Quick question. Before you started highlighting liberally like you mention in your post, did you write down your low res summaries on a piece of paper when taking preptests under timed conditions or were you able to just keep it all in your head because of the exercises you were doing under untimed conditions?

Hello @ excellent post and I really appreciate your help with RC. I was wondering how one can check to see if their RC low res and high res summaries are accurate? Thanks!

Is the target time just for reading the paragraph or is it for reading the paragraph and answering all the questions? Thanks.

Since it's only for financial aid purposes, meaning for $. Cancel is probably a better option. You will most likely have the opportunity to tell them you were 1 point lower and you wanted to save the $200 when you're negotiating financial aid. They don't expect you to dip too low or would even consider the 154 vs a cancel for financial aid purposes. Even if they see a 154 they could be wondering "why didn't she cancel? She could've saved $200." Use the free retake to save $200 for one more test if you really have the time to keep studying. $200 is still $200. Hope my input helps :)

Are you sure? The flex tests showed up on lawhub prior to taking the test.

I don't see a place in lawhub for my OCT 2021 LSAT registration. Was the Aug 2021 administered on lawhub? Will the Oct 2021 be administered on lawhub? Thanks.
