the check in process is fairly simple if you dont have any connection issues or anything. it takes a couple of minutes. when you log in first you do everything you have to do on ur own like take a pic of urself and ur ID and then u wait to get connected to ur proctor and they send u rules and have u do a room scan show ur hands and everything. and yes it is the exact same as it is on law hub! and no it does not start immediately, you get to click begin next section or something along those lines

August-Flex

hi guys,

anybody here completed their August-Flex?

I just did mine yesterday. Hope everybody's went exactly how they wanted it to, and good luck to those who have not yet!

i think thats how its set up for everyone, but it really just depends on what works best for you. you dont necessarily have to follow everything as is after you are done with the core curriculum. when i took the lsat the first time, i took just tests but the second time i also did drilling as a part of the study process

hope that helps

Addendum Question

hey everyone, i had a question about writing an addendum in regards to your lsat score.

if you have a score that is 90th percentile or above, but you do not meet the median for the school to which you are applying (for example if you are applying to it as a reach school) is it acceptable to write an addendum? or would that seem like you are just making up a reason for not meeting their median?

thank you :)

Application Question

hey guys

if anyone could help me out, i was just wondering does anyone know how important it is to admissions for us to have experience in the legal field? i dont really have anything except one short internship where i just helped out with some legal related things occasionally. i mostly just have retail experience and some positions in school clubs. do you think thats something that could cause a rejection or look bad?

i also read that if u dont have anything in ur application showcasing that u have helped people/spoken up for people, don't say that u want to do it and that its a reason for pursuing law in ur personal statement, but idk how accurate that is..i didnt think there was anything wrong with saying that something u went through or whatever makes u want to do that, regardless of what experiences you've had..any opinions??

THANK YOU!

i agree with the above ^ i think you should definitely write it, i've seen in many diversity statement descriptions that it can be more than just culture or race and those experiences would make for a great diversity statement

if its your first time taking the test, when they send out the email the day that registration opens up (oct 29th) they will have instructions for you with how to make the account. when i took it in august it was my first time, and they sent me a temp username and password to set up my account and then register for a time slot

Mentally Exhausted

hi guys..just wanted to come on here and let some emotion out because i know nobody who is taking the LSAT or who wants to go to law school and its hard not to talk about it. ive been trying extremely hard to stay positive, and as my test gets closer its wavering. I am taking it this weekend, and my goal is the high 160s. in the middle of my studies, i was scoring mid 160s and high 160s BR. but the last two weeks with the exception of one exam i have scored 160-162 with mid to high BR. i am definitely going to take the exam a second time, but i just dont know what to do right now and i felt like giving up on law school so many times, mostly because i feel like i wont be able to get to where i need to be to get into a good school. i recently took my last PT before the exam and i thought i did good, but again ended up getting a 161..that ended in a 30 minute crying session lol.

LR is holding me back significantly and i just feel like i cant do anything to improve now, as i have spent 6 quarantine months studying for the test which consisted of 8 hour study days at least 5 days a week. i dont even know what i don't understand because it always varies depending on the question.

so basically i just wanted to let that all out.

i wish the best of luck to everyone taking the test this weekend and in the future. thank you for taking the time to read this.

i agree with everything that @ said. i was in the same boat and hesitant to write as well as we are often seen as part of the 'overrepresented minorities' but at the end of the day that should not hold us back from writing about our experiences when we have dealt with things that have to do with our race and or culture. that definitely shapes ur character and having immigrant parents also teaches you a lot about hard work and struggle. you should definitely write it, i ultimately wrote my personal statement on this topic and i am happy with how it came out because its from my true and genuine experience. and i don't think any school would look at it negatively because they have defined diversity as extremely broad from race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, religion, sexual orientation, physical handicaps, learning disabilities, and to unusual backgrounds, so really diversity is anything that you think is diverse about you and being bicultural definitely works

good luck!

retake & applying to law school question

hi, if anyone had insight i had a question.

if i were to apply with my current score by december to schools i believe i can get into, but wanted to retake in january, would those schools hold off on looking at my application? because i do want to apply now but am thinking about retaking in january to see if i can get a higher score to potentially negotiate scholarships. is this something i can email schools that i am interested in and ask them about? do you know if it is possible for me to ask them to review my application as is with my current score and not wait for my january result?

thank you!

Test Date Advice

hi guys,

i am taking the august flex this weekend, and i am registered for the october flex. i chose the october one because i want to be able to apply as early as i can, but now i am thinking that between the august test to the october test will not be enough time for me to improve by much, especially with going back to school full time. i've been reading a lot of different things about applying early vs scoring even one point better and i am not sure what to do. powerscore says that it is much more better to have a higher score and apply in december (thats probably when i would end up applying after the november test) rather than apply early with a score lower than your potential. but i am still unsure. is it a big difference from applying by the end of october to applying mid december?

thank you for any advice, i appreciate it and good luck to all who are taking the flex this weekend :)

so disappointed

hi guys, just my score an hour ago and i am insanely upset, disappointed, and angry at myself. i started at a 144 and i received a 159 on the august test. i know there are worse scores, but i had been studying for 6 months for 6-8 hours a day and when i walked out of the test, i really thought i did at least above 160. i felt good about it, so i just dont understand what happened. i had been pt'ing 160-165 and br 166-174. i am so upset and i dont even know how i will bring myself to feel encouraged to study for the november exam, as i feel like ill just be disappointed again.

now here i am, gonna waste my whole friday crying about the score and drinking at 1130am...happy score release day lol

i hope that the rest of you are drinking because you got what you wanted, or wasting away ur friday because u got ur goal score and deserve a day off.

thanks for reading

@ tysm for the advice! i appreciate it and those are all extremely great pointers to consider. whether or not to apply after the january exam is definitely is one of those questions that gets mixed answers.

i hope that you get the score that you want for the november exam and wish you the best of luck on your application process :). thank you again

Applying Advice

hi guys!

so im awaiting my november score like a lot of us, and i am trying to think of what i should do based on the score i get, so i can be ready when i see it. i was thinking that if it is 164 and lower i want to retake, but in that case is it too late to apply if i take it in january? or should i skip this application cycle and apply for fall 2022? because i have read a lot of mixed things with some saying it is alright to apply at that time and others saying that february applicants rarely get scholarship money, which i really need.

thank you in advance.

yes its the same for me! so i usually just switch it to unlimited time and stop it myself when it hits 35:00. but sometimes practicing that way can be beneficial too because it forces you to try to get it done in 33 minutes so that on the real thing you can possibly do the same and have extra time to go back

hey im not the best at explaining but im going to try!

so what the author says in the stimulus as to why the proposal should not be implemented is because skill varies per doctor, so testing the procedure out in a trial would be unhelpful, since as the author says the effectiveness will always depend on the surgeon who is performing it, and therefore cannot really be tested out so to say.

A is correct because it points out a major thing that the author forgets to consider. what if clinical trials could be helpful for new procedures because there could be something naturally wrong with the procedures? like how well a car is driven depends invariably on the person who is driving it. but what if there is something mechanically wrong with someones car that prevents them from driving it properly? just like that, what if regardless of the fact that the effectiveness will vary based on who is performing it, the reasoning given for the clinical trial extension proposal being rejected is not enough, because it could still be helpful in informing us about whether or not the procedure has anything wrong with it in general

B is wrong because the author does not need to consider this. he can ignore that possibility and his argument is still fine, ignoring it does not hurt his argument like ignoring A does. So what if it is meant to elicit criticism?

C is wrong because the author does not assume anything about a singular surgeon's skills remaining the same throughout his life. If anything, he assumes that all surgeons skills differ (which i believe is an alright and common sense assumption to make) but he does not assume anything about skills changing or not changing throughout life. assuming this does not benefit his argument in any way.

D is wrong because not providing scientific evidence does not make the argument flawed. He gave his reasoning and we have to take his word for it that its true as he did provided premises. These kind of arguments where they do not give evidence where it is clearly needed are usually more obvious than this i think as far as what i've seen

I don't really know how to explain why E is wrong but I hope that my explanation for why A is correct helps you understand it a bit better.

Hope that helps, sorry if it isnt the best!!

you can have five pieces of blank paper, lined, graphed or unlined ..i used white printer paper. there was no problem at all! also in this link if you go under 'taking the lsat-flex' and click on the "what am i allowed to have with me during lsat-flex?" it breaks everything down for you..good luck!

this also happened to me a bunch of different times before the exam. it was always random, some days it was found and other days it was not. the days it was found it said that it was strong and good to go, and the day of the exam everything worked normally. i would not worry about it too much

LSAT Writing

hi guys!

i tried to take my LSAT writing yesterday (i took the august test) and i accidentally closed it out, so they reset the link today. and then i started today, i had a paragraph written and i got a notification that said recording stopped due to network failure (which was weird bc my wifi was working fine) and then i clicked close bc i didnt know what else to do and kept going, and then a few seconds later psi just shut down and kicked me out and now it says ive completed it on my lsac account. THIS IS SO ANNOYING and ive been on hold for 50 minutes, and i didnt even get to destroy my scratch paper or anything bc it was unexpected. god knows if theyre going to be ridiculous about it..i have a feeling im not going to be getting my score back on the 18th LOL since it takes up to 3 weeks to process and now its labor day weekend.

moral of the story; make sure ur 100% good to go in terms of tech and everything before u start the writing and show ur scratch paper at some point in the video bc they never give a specific time to show it. also show ur wrists and hands

ProctorU Registration

hi guys. for those of you who have taken an LSAT Flex already I was wondering how the proctoru registration works. I am registered for the August flex; am I supposed to register for an account myself or will LSAC email us directions about it? If so, do you know when they typically send out this email?

Personal Statement Topic

Hi guys

for the personal statement, do you think its okay to write about having anxiety and overcoming it as well as how it helped shape you into who you are today? i also make it clear that i do not struggle with it anymore, bc i know ive seen things where people say they might be biased against that

thank you!
