University of North Texas

By any chance are there any UNT students here who would like to get together on Tuesdays and Thursdays for a quick study session? I would like to be able to articulate my reasoning for the answers I choose. Ive been doing it with myself however I feel it would be better to do it with another person instead of my dog.

How to force your brain to rest?

Quick question. I am a natural worry wart. I worry constantly about anything and everything, even when I'm asleep. It seems like every night I toss and turn dreaming about LR, LG, and logic in general. I can't explain or remember the structure and details of the dreams, but I know they have something to do with a puzzle I must figure out before I wake up.

So, I end up waking up feeling more tired than when I went to sleep.

Any ideas or advice on how anyone else has dealt with this problem?

Def didn't think it was stupid easy, for me LR was harder than normal, LG was normal even though I made 2 stupid rookie mistakes on 2 of the games, RC was normal. I still feel like I bombed it though. Ive read JY's "I think I f^#%ed up and want to cancel" thread at least 20 times since the 10th.

Burnout

The burnout is real, just did a 142 on PT June 2008. Ive been a member of 7sage for over a year, taken a ton of PTs, averaging in the 163-168 area. Ive tried to take it slow but I just bombed the holy f#@* out of this one for some reason. Oh well. Im going to take a few days off before my senior year starts and have some beers, clean my car, and listen to my favorite band Avenged Sevenfold.

2 random questions.

This may be silly, however I can't remember if the real test paper is thinner than the single tests available on amazon. Does anyone know if the paper is that thin delicate stuff? Also, was LSAC releasing Dec scores early a one time thing or have they hinted at releasing Feb scores early?

Another thing I thought of, maybe its an adrenaline crash? Ive been so stoked to start a section then after the 4th or 5th question my adrenaline would subside and I would crash.

I don't know how much this will help, but when I had the same problem I had to brute force myself to stay focused and study. However, it could be a sign of burn out, maybe take 2 or 3 days off and relax a bit?

LG became my absolute favorite section over time. Prior to fool proofing I was horrible at games. After months of practice I got pretty good! My favorites are in/out and grouping. To be honest, I haven't done a game since Feb 8, and I sort of miss them. I'm going to do some in a few months just to see if I retained anything.

60s v 70s LR

Im working my way through PTing the 60s. My question is whether or not the 70s LR is much different from the 60s LR? Just curious.

I went through the CC twice, once before December '16 and then again after I bombed the first one. The first PT I took after the second CC was a 148 (PT 60) I was devastated. I went through all three phases in the post CC webinar and ended up doing 3 points above my average last month. But my goodness it was a LOT of work. If I can raise my score by 15 points, Im convinced anyone can.

I did a 145 on the December 16 lsat. I did a 160 last month. It is possible to raise your score. I would recommend the post cc webinar, that helped me a lot.

All the above ^^^^!!! Take a post CC test, bomb it, find your weakness and then work on those. I continued fool proofing until the Thursday before the test. I think the best advice I got from the post CC webinar was "Go beyond the correct answer, seek full understanding of all the answers." I really believe that helped me.

Day Off

I'm taking today off. I've been studying around 9 hours a day for a while. I think I'm going to turn on some pod casts and clean my place while I play with my little dog. Hope all my fellow LSAT warriors are doing great! I'm not one to participate too much on the threads however I have absorbed a lot of advice from all of you all. Thank you.

Also, if there are any veterans in the DFW area that could use a good paying job which allows you to study at work send me a pm.

Good luck everyone!

I hit my goal, I'm happy. I scored 3 points above my PT average. I'm having an IPA. I'm happy.

Good for you, congrats!! I was 2 pts above my goal. I scored this score on 1 PT and it was my highest. A few points above my average of the past several PTs. I am elated, and surprised

Thanks! AND CONGRATS!!!!! I hugged my dear wife so hard she said I hurt her back. She deserved good hug though, without my love's support I wouldn't have been able to do it.

I've put over 6000 hours into this test, it paid off. I'm no sage, but it paid off. I'm happy tonight. I'm really happy. My first take was a 145 back in December 16. I raised my score exponentially with hard work and fool proofing. 7sage works. It really does. This is coming from a high school drop out with a GED. Don't quit, don't ever quit. You've never failed until you quit trying. DO NOT QUIT!

Mistake prior to Saturday

I feel like I made a horrible mistake by taking PT82 prior to sitting this Saturday. I did the test as quick as I could, pretty nonchalantly. I did horrible. I went -9 on each LR, -3 on LG, and -8 on RC. I haven't gone -9 on an LR section in a long time, let alone 2 sections in a row on the same test. My goal is a 165, I did a 158 on the last PT before the real thing. I'm afraid of burn out prior to Saturday but Im also afraid that if I take Wed, Thurs, & Friday off I may not be warmed up enough for Saturday morning. Any thoughts? I normally go -3/4 on LR, and -1/3 on LG.

Employment history in applications

I heard a rumor that employment history is required to sit for the bar, therefore its required to list on your applications. Does anyone know if this is true? I was told I have to list fast food employment from 20 years ago and if I don't when the BLE looks at tax returns I will be denied for lying about employment. Does anyone have any info on this?

TBH the most shocking thing I saw was one guy walked in with just one pencil

wow, that's a bold move... especially as it seems like the average LSAT taker brings like 15 (including me)

Yea I brought like 30....

Excessive pencil crew. The proctors made a comment about how many pencils I brought.

Same with me, lol. The proctor lady told the room I had enough pencils for the entire building. I told her they were my security blanket cause I've been using them for the past year on PTs and drilling. I promised my pencils they would part of D-Day with me. heh

Sorry to hear that, but thanks for sharing! I ran across your other post about being a splitter the other day. I’m afraid my GPA will play a hard part in the application process for next cycle. I have a cumulative 2.89 thanks to my original school and some horrible things that happened to me while I was there for three semesters, but my second college I attended I redid all of my classes and my graduating GPA was a 3.8 Magna Cum Laude. So I’m going to write an addendum when submitting my apps, and I’m hoping that along with seeing that three semesters starting in 2007 won’t override all of the hard work after and graduating in 2012. Fingers crossed that you’ll hear good news from the others you’ve applied to!

Thanks!

I'm sure you'll do good!

Heres a funny story. On D-Day last Feb after the 15 min break we started the next section. For some god awful unknown reason my stupid nose began to run. And I mean RUN! It felt like my nose all of a sudden became Niagara Falls! And stupid me, I didn't bring any tissues, (I needed a towel!) So anyways I lifted my test up so I could keep my head level and I was immediately told to put it flat on the table.

At my testing center it had to be kept flat on the table. I tried.

Law Admissions

Just got my first rejection. Got denied by Texas Tech. Pretty sure its due to my gpa. Thought I had a fairly good chance due to being 4 points above their 75th LSAT. Oh well. Still waiting on Texas AM and UNT. I appreciate this forum, everyone here has always been very kind and cordial to one another. I've been browsing the r/lawadmissions subreddit and it seems very toxic to me. I'm glad 7sage is not the same!

Some encouragement

To my fellow 7sagers and LSAT warriors,

I would like to share my story prior to scores being released with the hopes of encouraging anyone who scores below their target.

First, if you happen to get a low score don’t worry about it, it’s not the end of the world. Do not spend the day beating yourself up over it. This is an incredibly hard test. The LSAT is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever undertaken in my life.

I decided I wanted to become an attorney way back in 2011. I had zero academic skills or knowledge when I began my journey. I mean ZERO. I don’t even have a high school diploma. I’ve failed countless times since then however every time I failed I paused, figured out what I did wrong, fixed it and kept going. I now have a BA in PSCI.

If a stranger would have come up to me and tell me that in 17 years I would be a combat veteran with a degree and hopes for law school I would have laughed in their face and called them insane.

The point I am trying to make is that if you are unhappy with your score don’t get upset and don’t worry, it is not the end of the world.

If you decide that you must put off applying, do not let, that upset you too much. Any thing good in life takes time, hard work, and dedication. I am 33 yrs old, and am 90% sure that I’m going to have to retake. I doubt I will start l1 until I am 34.

I would like to share some advice given to my by my former plt. Commander who now owns his own firm and argued in front of the 9th circuit as a law student. He told me that I will face many obstacles and setbacks. However, when that happens I need to step back, do an AAR, figure out what I did wrong, learn from it, don’t dwell on it and move on.

I just thought I would do my best to encourage everyone here that no matter how hard or bad it gets, DON’T QUIT!! NEVER GIVE UP!

I sincerely hope all of you receive great news today or tomorrow. I have enjoyed reading all the posts here at 7sage. Thank you for reading my jumbled incoherent attempt at encouragement!

-Paul Pederson

(JY, Dillon, and the rest of 7sage staff, you all are amazing. I can not thank you enough for what you have done and continue to do with 7sage and LSAT prep. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.)

I'm glad to be in the company of servicemen and women, both online in 7Sage and offline. My neighbors served in the Navy and I have a couple coworkers who were in the Marines, who I believe were from Camp Pendelton and 29 Palms

Oh lovely 29 Palms. How I don't miss it there....

Lol, I spent from August 2004, to June 2008 there, the desert grew on me. I miss it.

Ummmm I think it almost might be a giving up hope time. Per LSAC twitter,

"Due to the beastly weather from this nasty winter storm in the east, LSAC’s offices are closing at 3:30 pm today. If you are affected by bad weather of any kind, please stay warm, dry, and safe."

Darn. Yea, thats a pretty good reason to give up hope. Oh well, I bet they come out Wednesday. At least I'm off that day.

Tinnitus special accommodations, and BRing.

This may sound odd, but yesterday I took PT 60 and at the end of the test couldn't hear anything due to the ringing in my ears. I'm certain its from sitting for a long amount of time in absolute silence. I have some documented hearing loss from my time in the military but yesterday during and after the test was bad. During the test it got so bad that it felt like I had just gone to the range and shot for a while with no ear protection, and afterwards my ears range for the rest of the day. My question is have any of you ever gotten special accommodation for something like this, even just to bring a fan to the testing room, and if so how did you go about doing it?

Also, how long on average do you all spend BRing a full PT? Its taken me half the day to do 1 section of LR cookie cutter review. Im afraid that Im taking too long during BR and possibly overthinking things. Any and all advice is greatly appreciated!

Maybe going to an animal shelter and having a visit with the animals could have calming effects.

My 7 pound little puppy Autumn has been doing her best. She's an old bear, had her since Nov 2004, today she has done nothing but give kisses. She knows. She's my bear, she's my buddy. I got her for my wife when we got married and she turned out to be my best friend
