Thanks. I work full time, so I figure it'll take me longer than others to get through all the material.

I plan to take LSAT on June this year and work full-time, too!

To be more specific, I work 70 hours per week!

What to do at last five minutes?(Esp. RC)

Hello 7sages,

At last 5 minutes, I tend to be nervous and thus become quite inefficient at the last five minutes for each section, especially for RC section

For LG, I might solve the 4th game or at least the first questions of the 4th game

For LR, I might finish in time, but no time to check those questions circled; if I can't finish this section, I will choose shorter one (but sometimes it's harder one).

For RC, when there's 5 minutes left, I still have a whole passage, and I become too nervous to read and can't remember anything.it turns out I will miss the whole passage. I used to use last five minutes to check the previous passages and give up the 4th one, but I'd like to finish all four passages, so I can increase my RC score.

I've practiced 10 PTs, I think what I need to do to improve my score is:

1. Stay calm at last 5 minutes (first five minutes are much more productive): I do meditation from time to time, and it does relieve my anxiety overall, but not really work for this situation.

2. Read faster without sacrificing understanding :I finished Cambridge LSAT Difficult passages recently, but still hardly finish reading new passages in 3.5 minutes (or including questions within 8.5 minutes).

3. Make a good guess: I have no idea how to do it; sometimes read too fast and eliminate the correct answer.

Do you have any suggestion for me?

Thanks for all your help!

Rosenberg cannot evaluate any introductory textbook until Juarez has evaluated that textbook? I would have guessed it would have been "until" so group three, so you negate sufficient so it would be R (intro book)--> J (intro book) but it is actually J intro book -> R intro book. Could someone please explain this?

If you mean the conditional relationship, i think you are right:

"Rosenberg cannot evaluate any introductory textbook(REIT)" until "Juarez has evaluated that textbook(JEIT)" = REIT until JEIT = REIT -> JEIT

Otherwise,

JEIT -> REIT = If Juarez has evaluated intro book, then Rosenberg evaluate that intro textbook. = Only if Rosenberg has evaluated the intro textbook, Juarez can evaluate that textbook.= Juarez cannot evaluate any introductory textbook until Rosenberg has evaluated that textbook.

=\= original statement.

Actually it reverses the conditional statement.

But, if it's a logic game in sequence, you know that (REIT -> JEIT) means only if JEIT, REIT, so it would be: JEIT - REIT

Find Study buddy in Taipei, Taiwan

Hello 7 sagers!

My name is Jason. I am looking for LSAT study buddy; I've been studied LSAT more than 8 months(but not consecutively). I ran through other LSAT company's books but improved very few points. (Thank god I found 7sage!!)

I'm prepared for Jun-2015, but I also consider Oct-2015 as well.

Full-disclosure: English is not my native language(which is Mandarin), and I have never been to the U.S.

I live in Taipei, Taiwan (GMT+8).

Anyone who wanna discuss LSAT (via skype) or mentally support each other is welcome.

Or if you live in Taiwan and are fighting for the LSAT, we can fight together.

P.S. If you are likely to be distracted in the U.S. while you study, I suggest you come to Taiwan for some advantages:

1. LSAT June-2015 in Taiwan(Asia-Pacific) is at the end of June, you get two more weeks to prepared.

2. You may not be bothered(or tempted) by your friends and therefore you can focus on your study.

3. Living cost in Taiwan is relatively low, and Taiwan is visa-waived for U.S. citizens.

(3 months for Taiwanese to the U.S., I guess it's same for U.S. citizens.)

Warning: Taiwan is a great place and you may be tempted by food, people and everything you want to explore. In that case, it may cost you an arm and a leg, and then you won't have time studying the LSAT.

Look forward to my LSAT partner, just PM me.

Any tips for comparative passages?

Hi 7sagers!

I browsed all RC courses but I found that there's no specific video teaching what we should be aware while reading comparative passages.

And I also searched the Forum but didn't find any post concerning this question.

Does anyone has any suggestion?

Thank you very much.

I have strongly recommended 7sage to my friends because 7sage is really fantastic!

I'm just curious who would receive the prize.

Is he/she randomly chosen or everyone given the prize?

Copy game boards on next page or not?

Hello 7sages,

I found it's very time-consuming if I have to copy game boards to next page, especially there's more than 2 game boards (for example, PT 41, G1 and G2)

Does "to write fast and accurately" the only to overcome this obstacle?

Thanks for your help!

Can we speed it up on iPad/iPhone? That'll be great!

Thanks!

Hello 7Sage!

I have problems for this question.

The question stem mentions the preference in Passage A:

Preference for coherence connecting variety, not too simple (pure tone) = not interesting; not too complex = bad

so i'm looking for some kind of in the middle of the spectrum

I choose Answer (A): Preference for white noice when sleeping : not totally silence (pure tone) ; not too loud (too complex)

Answer (B): not knowing why it's matching the preference analogy?

Thanks for your help!

Hi everyone!

The grammar section helps me a lot.

However, since I can’t post the real LSAT sentences, if I have trouble deconstructing a sentence I read, where or how can I raise my questions at 7 sage? or Is it allowable to post one or two sentences?

Any comment or suggestion is welcomed.

Thank you.

1. Your three-sentence biography.

I was raised in a single-parent family in Taiwan and due to our economic disadvantage I stayed in a children's home for 7 seven years for better education. As the first generation receiving a bachelor degree in international relations, I've been working in my government for 3 years after my military service. Meanwhile, I am awarded a government scholarship and also have prepared for the LSAT on-and-off in the past three years.

2. Your biggest worry about your application.

I don't know if the two ideas below are suitable since it's a controversial political issue and some of them are a reflection rather than first-hand, real involvement or personal participation. But it shows why I'm going to law school and what I believe.

3. Two ideas for your personal statement.

As majoring in international relations, I want to help overcome Taiwan's challenges for international participation, because the unequal status reminds me that my family situation in the past. 1. deepening the rule of law/democracy domestically (from my military service that a national protest broke out) and 2. establishing substantial international economic cooperation with other countries (from my work experience in government)

So, I hope to obtain these skills (the practice and implication of the rule of law and helping my government to negotiate international trade legal issues) via going to US law school.

4. Did you attend last time? Did I get to you?

No.

Thank you.

LSAT Analytics--"difficulty" "priority"

Hello 7sagers,

The LSAT Analytics is a great tool to review what I got wrong. I also think the statistic chart quite cool--I can know my weakness in seconds! (I planned to categorize RC type by myself before I found this!)

I'm just curious about the difference between the "difficulty" and "priority"--I guess that "difficult" indicates percentage of 7sage(the lower, the harder, and vice versa), and "priority" means "personal priority"(one that I got wrong).

Is my understanding correct?

Thanks for replies.

Logic game rules: as many adj/n as

Hello 7sages,

I'm confused about such rules as shown in the title, and I will use some of the examples from the PTs

(Spoiler Alert)

1. Exactly twice as many of the film buffs see the Hitchcock film as see the Fellini film

2. At least many French novels as Russian novels are selected.

3. At least twice as many roses as orchids must be used.

I'm quite confused which one is more, hope you can give me some advice, thank you!

Have you read the book "Tomorrow's Lawyers"?

Hello 7sagers,

Have you read the book "Tomorrow's Lawyers"?

http://www.amazon.com/Tomorrows-Lawyers-Introduction-Your-Future/dp/019966806X

I don't even know whether I should recommend it to you before the LSAT since it is quite pessimistic about the legal profession.

In a nutshell, the writer predicts that in decades most law firms need to, if not be forced to, ultimately transform themselves to survive in the market due to the new technology. He also claims that the apogee of legal profession was in 2006, and most law firms charge much more than they deserve, merely because corporations used to pay since it seems only small percentage of a given deal.

The author's argument is that most well-paid lawyers currently only provide technical services, which is not as professional as it seems and can be replaced by new technologies.

Since I am not a lawyer and not familiar with the firm milieu, I can't tell whether it is true or not.

I believe that some of you like me don't pursuit the law degree just for a lucrative job, but I am still concerned about the future, especially when it comes to paying back loans.

I would love to hear any of your opinions, for the book, for future, etc.

hello 7sages!

I'm considering buying editing services from 7sage or somewhere else, partly because I'm too busy (working 13+ hours a day), partly because I'm not an English native speaker. Paradoxically, the fact that i'm not a native speaker also stops me from buying editing service, because i'm afraid that the polished statement from David Busis will be too good to be mine.

I browsed a few top law schools' websites, Michigan Law School makes it explicit

May a foreign applicant who does not write well in English use a professional editing service to edit for language and style?

We expect that essays are the work of the applicant. It's one thing to show them to a friend or two for input, but we definitely frown upon a professional service. This is true whether the applicant is a native speaker or not; all too often, U.S. natives will hire "admissions consultants" to actually pen their personal statements, and we view that too as a violation of our expectation that all the work is that of the applicant. You'd be surprised how easily we are able to detect these professionally polished essays. We will often compare the writing style of the LSAT essay with that of the personal statement, for example, and when there's a stark contrast, we'll know why.

Some law schools have similar warning as well.

If it's ghostwriting by editors, it's no doubt a cheating and should be forbidden. But if I have worked hard to the best PS I can produce, and then buy the services I need to compensate my disadvantages (not living in the US, nor a native speaker), it's seems a little in the grey area to me.

But of course, if I know i'm going to have a editor help me, i may rely on him or her rather than trying my best at the very beginning of my personal statement.

I really appreciate all of your help and opinions! Thank you!

@ you are right!!

that's because I use the LG foolproof method-- ten copies of same game.

But since I only printed LG game, it turned out that I separated one game into a sheet of paper each side. I realized my stupid mistake after I took next my PT last week.

anyway, thank you for your help!

JY's explanation clearly made this question easy, especially graphical explanation in option (E).

I still tried 10 minutes to figure out the first very long sentence's structure.

Romantics who claim that people are not born evil but may be made evil by the imperfect institution that they form cannot be right, for they misunderstand the causal relationship between people and their institutions.

1. Main clause: Romantics cannot be right.

2. Romantics claim that people not born evil but may be made evil by imperfect institutions

3. Modifier: they(Romantics or people) form imperfect institutions

4. "for" clause gives why Romantics cannot be right: Romantics misunderstand the causality.

Just for your reference, and please correct me if I'm wrong.

@ Is this still going on? There seems to be no one there :(

I have the same question

Hello everyone!

I'm curious the order you watch the videos.

I prefer to watch all Reading comp, then all Logic Reasoning, and finally all logic game(also review LR)

I absorbed in the material better this way, or I might forget previous lessons(or cannot be skillful for some techniques, esp. LG)

Does anyone prefer to follow the "Study Schedule", watching RC, LR, LG, then finishing them all almost at the same time?

Besides, does anyone watch the Coursera "Think again: how to Reason and Argue"

Does it help LR?

Since I'm prepared for the Feb. 2015 LSAT, I have time to follow this course, but not sure if it is worth watching.

Thanks for sharing!
