I don't understand how you would go about this question because all of the answer choices sound bad. Why would A be the answer? Is it because you're pointing out a potential alternate cause?

I was stuck between C and E for this question and chose the latter because the stimulus seemed to be more focused on extraterrestrial life. E can also be an actual reason for why we wouldn't know about life outside of Earth. How would you know to choose C over E? Why is it not the answer?

I get why 14 is B now, but I know for a fact that I would get it wrong if I received a similar question in the future. How do you wrap your head around a question that sounds so nonsensical?
