Originally thought that the personal statement was generic and applied to every school... but recently I've seen a couple specific prompts from individual schools (e.g., CU Boulder). Do I assume the school accepts a school-agnostic letter unless otherwise specified?

I'm currently registered for the January 26th test but don't think I'll be ready. Can schools see if I change my test date? Does that show up as a "cancel"?
Also, it seems like it'd be slightly cheaper to do the "Change registration date" instead of canceling, getting the partial refund and then re-registering. Does that sound right? Thank you in advance.
I'd love to hear some opinions.
Can anyone offer any anecdotal or empirical evidence on whether adcoms consider your major against your GPA? I've heard it's all GPA and they barely consider what you studied.
I certainly don't mean to offend anyone but it seems absurd for an adcom to equate a 3.8 in chemical engineering with a 3.8 in english. Personally, I finished with a 3.7 in finance from a good Midwestern business school and I'm really hoping the difficulty of my major helps compensate for a low-ish GPA, at least by T14 standards.
Hey 7Sagers,
First, congrats to all those being accepted to law school this round!
I have two questions on the application process. First, I've heard from 7Sagers, other applicants and adcoms themselves that a letter of rec from a professor is important. I had a great experience in an undergraduate criminal law class and the instructor said he'd be happy to write me a letter of rec. My concern is that he's only a "Lecturer" and not a tenured professor. Might adcoms frown upon this?
Second, when did y'all start writing your personal statements? I hope to apply this fall, and I'd like to take the July or September LSAT. Is it best to push the writing until after I'm done with the LSAT? I could see it being a bit "cart before the horse" to write it before I'm satisfied with my LSAT score, but I also don't want to push it off and then be tempted to write it hastily so I can get my apps in. Any advice would be great!
I have one to share too... maybe we could swap? Feel free to message me yours and I'll do the same.
