Why is the "but" from answer choice D translated as an "or" instead of an "and"?

Study Buddy (170+ / West Coast - PST)

Hello,

I'm in the mid-160s, but I would really like to reach 170+. Would anyone be interested in studying together? I would really like to study with someone who's scoring 170+ so that I can learn methods you're using to help you achieve that score. Also, I'm happy to study with those scoring 160s to mid-160s as well. Unfortunately, I have very limited time because I work full time so please only reach out if you're really serious about studying and are already committing a lot of time into studying. It would also be helpful to study with someone in PST time (but also happy to study with those in a different timezone).

I would be interested in joining! I'm mid 160s range. I would really like to get to 170s. I heard that it helps when you can explain it to others how you would approach a problem

7sage, would you be able to please provide shorter explanation videos? I work full time and study in the evenings. It's hard for me to utilize these videos as a resource when the videos are an hour long.

This is a question that I really wanted to get a more in depth understanding of but unfortunately, I can't sit down for an hour for one question.

As someone who's first language isn't English, I felt like this stimulus was hard to understand. Did anyone have this experience as well? If yes, how did you tackle this question?

It might be because English isn't my first language but once in a while when I'm reading a stimulus, I get the answer wrong because I simply didn't understand what they were saying.

For example, when I was reading this stimulus, I understood it as that Jerome misunderstood some part of Ingrid's argument because she talks about numerous performers recording the rock music while Jerome says "true" (as in he agrees) and then says "rock music is usually recorded only once" (which I thought contradicted what Ingrid said). However, after reading the explanation, I understand more about what the stimulus is saying. Now that I'm reviewing the question, I don't know what to write down as an explanation that can help me not make this mistake next time. Can you please tell more on what you do when you come across a question that you get wrong and it's simply because you misunderstood the passage?
