@ - Do you think 20 PTs will be enough? I wanted to ease into PTs, but yet I want to be completely prepared come December.

@ - Thanks for the suggestion, I like the idea of using 40s for experimental or drilling. I may incorporate 50s too, so I utilize the most current ones, 60s and up, to do full PTs.

Beginning to PT

Hi Everyone!

I'll be wrapping up my CC this week and plan on taking my first PT next week- tentatively on Wednesday, I'm giving myself three days before to brush up on certain topics. My schedule will be, one PT a week for the month of September and come October until the test in December, take two a week. I'm currently studying full-time (6-8 hours a day-weekends off). Any suggestions which PTs I should start with? Thanks in advance!

Thanks @ on asking this specific question. I'm in a similar situation where I'm wrapping up the CC and want to spend at least 3 months taking PT with BR and hopefully hit my target score when December comes around. This is all good advice! Thanks everyone.

This one got me. I had the correct argument form, but made too many assumptions with answer choice B about not making mistakes equates to being easier. Ugh, be sure to pay attention to the referential phases.

Blind Review

I've been PT and BR the last couple of weeks and I want to know if there are advantages to BR on the same test I PT or do I need a separate PT to do my BR? I want to make sure I'm studying the right way.

There will not be recordings of these types of webinars, since Josh uses past PT questions, LSAC charges a copyright fee.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I used the BR method mentioned above when doing strengthening questions and it definitely helped, which made me hopefully I can complete my weakening question sets correctly, but that wasn't the case. I did great on one set, and the next two just wrecked me. I have noticed while going through JY's explanations, I'm having difficulty imaging the alternative explanations and denying the assumption. Now that I've pinpointed my problem with this question type, should I write out JY's explanations like mnr suggested and review them over and over again to strengthen my ability to see the alternative explanation? It seems my ability to be skeptical when doing these questions doesn't exist.

Got this question wrong, and its a good lesson to remember: do not make huge assumptions. I was stuck with deciding ACs D and E, and ended up going with D because I felt the idea of distance to interfere had no relevance to the argument. And with AC- E, I made the huge assumption the low-powered circuitry didn't have time to test out the kinks of items that would interfere with it, i.e. timing of when electronic devices became popular. Don't make huge assumptions, people!

I got this question right, but for other reasons than what JY used. Minor artists had to make a living, so with AC D, it states art dealers paid more for these minor artists to leave it unsigned to add phony signatures and pass it off as valuable paintings. So this adds support to the idea that minor artists need money to survive and adding phony signatures it supported the idea paintings from major artists was not accurate. Is this thought process okay?

Help with Weakening Questions!

I'm in the middle of going through the CC and I'm on weakening questions at this point. I'm working on my problem sets, but the last five sets I've done, I've been getting three or more of the questions wrong- the last two I just did, I got all the questions wrong. I understand for weakening questions, I'm looking for AC that reduces the support between the premise and conclusion, and I'm able to identify the premise, conclusion, referential phases, etc. in each argument. But when it comes down to select my AC, this is where I trip up. I'm going through JY's explanations for each question, and I see where his argument came from in selecting the AC, but the next set I do, I miss the point again and get too many questions wrong. Help! Any tips of how to conquer the tough weakening questions? Should I review the whole lesson plan again? Should I look at another way of attacking these questions via other study guides? I'm getting frustrated and discouraged because I've been handling all other topics fine, but I'm at a road block with these questions. Thanks in advance!

December 2015, take it or postpone it?

Hi everyone. I'm writing to you all to get some advice and guidance about my dilemma (and hopefully ease my nerves). So here's my situation. I work full-time and been out of school since 2007, I started studying back in June with Powerscore's program (I know, I know, please don't judge) and originally planned to take October LSAT. I had surgery at the end of July and was out of the studying game for several weeks, which set me back a lot. My boyfriend and I talked, weighed my pros and cons, and we both decided it was best to push my test back to December to get me more time to study. We found 7Sage and I began their starter package in September. My scores haven't been great, mid-140s PT and low160s BR, which is obviously no where near my target score (165+). My strengths are LG and RC, but I'm absolutely horrible at LR, during timed and BR. After each BR, I feel I know the information, understand it, but when I take another PT, I choke. I've never been a good standardized test taker, so I knew going into this I had a big challenge to overcome. I know progress takes a while, but here we are 3 weeks to December's test and my PTs are bad. My boyfriend thinks I should take December's test as planned, see what score I get and use it as a trial run so I'm prepared when I take it in June 2016. My concerns with his suggestion is I waste my first test, in case I need to retake it in October 2016 (after June 2016 test) and secondly, I'll have to explain to all my schools why I scored so badly the first go around, if I score well on the June 2016 test. So here's my question, should I cancel my December test or not? At this point I know I need more time to study and go over the material again, luckily I haven't exhausted all my PT, 50-75 left. I definitely underestimated how much time I needed to study. With working M-F 8-5, I cram in about 4 hours each evening and put in another 6-8 each day on Saturday and Sunday, so I know I'm overloading myself and not allowing the information to absorb. I appreciate everyone's thoughts and comments about my situation and welcome any advice you send my way. Thank you.

Hi everyone! I apologize for getting back so late, but David didn't respond to my email until late yesterday evening. As a recap, I asked him how to translate my work experience (6+ years of work experience or in my case almost 10 years) into my personal statement or what my theme should be, this is what he said...

Great question. If you've been in the work force for a while, you'll probably want to explain to the adcom why you're applying to law school now, so the "Why I want to be a lawyer" option is more attractive. That said, you don't HAVE to write about why you want to be a lawyer; if you have a better topic, you should write that.

I hope this helps for some of you, who wondered about this question. Back to the drawing board for me.

@ , thanks again for your time tonight, definitely some great pointers on prescriptive language. It seems the audio cut out on my end the last five minutes of your presentation, could it be possible you tell me what your remaining thoughts were? Thanks in advance!

That was my question. I was asking what his advice would be for someone who had 6+ work experience regarding the type of theme to write. I just sent David an email, so if and when he responds, I'll be more than happy to share his response on here.

@.gill.sanford and @ - There are 2 dream schools, one local and one in another city- which after US News 2017 rankings, they're both in the Top 50, yay! The other local schools are back-ups, in case I can't get into either 2 choices. My options are limited since my significant other will be supporting me while I'm in school, so location of these schools are job base for him too.

I knew I wanted to be a lawyer since I was a kid. In high school I attended those over-priced law forums for students, participated in mock trial, and in college I went the traditional route in my major (pre-law polisci with a double major in Spanish). Life happened and wasn't able to apply after college. I've been in the workforce for almost 10 years now and absolutely hate my current job. I realized I was in a stagnant position, with no room for me to get promoted, unless I went out and got a civil engineering degree. That's when I decided its time for me to try and get into law school. I'm ready to call the shots. I'm ready for someone to value my professional opinion. This is what keeps me motivated. Studying for the LSAT is daunting, I'm not going to lie, but coming on these forums helps me realize I'm not alone in this journey. I've taken up meditation to help with focus and testing anxiety, I'm starting to exercise, and I'm allowing myself to actually take the time and learn the material. This is my second go around with 7Sage, and after a brief recess, I'm picking up things I didn't get the first time.

Congrats! This is absolutely inspiring. I'm in the same boat as you were, my LSAT score is under the 25th at all the schools I plan on applying to, but I'm taking a gamble to apply anyways. I'm curious if you had to re-write your resume and personal statement and request new LORs when you reapplied?

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, you all made some valid points, some I figured would be the case. My only reason to start visiting now is to motivate myself and keep trucking along in studying the LSAT, but I do need to be realistic about the whole process. No sense in wasting admissions officer's time, if I'm not applying in the upcoming cycle.

With the amount of studying I've been doing at this point, I'm focused on getting a good score to obtain some sort of scholarship and the rest student loans. I'm fortunate enough to have my significant other support me while I study full-time for the LSAT, and then turn around go to school full-time. Student loans will be dreadful, but sometimes it's the sacrifice you have to make in order to make your dreams come true, one way or another. I've waited 10 years to finally make this giant leap and I've always known student loans would be in the books. Luckily for me, I have no debt (i.e. undergrad loans or even a car loan), so it makes it more tolerable.

Law School Visits

I'm plan to take the LSAT later this year (September/December-worst case), would it be too soon to visit some schools I plan on applying to? Or is best to wait until I've taken the LSAT? Some of the schools I plan on applying are local, so it wouldn't be a problem to schedule a visit and drive to them. Thoughts?

I'm in the same boat as you. I spent 5 wonderful days in Costa Rica for a friend's wedding and two days since my return, I'm struggling to adult. As @ mentioned, you gotta start running to chase your dreams. I have today and Saturday to accomplish my tiny goal, which is to complete one subject, and with this goal, I can ease back into it and go full force next week. Good luck to you!

I got this question correctly, but for the wrong reasons than what JY explained. I reasoned A was correct, because I saw the first sentence as the sub-conclusion and the statement following "However" was the main point/main conclusion, but using "its" as a referential phase to the first statement. Is this bad thinking, seeing how JY used the first sentence as the conclusion?
