wow many congratulations!!! I occasionally score in the mid 170s when taking practice tests, but I'm having trouble staying solidly in the range or improving especially when it comes to newer tests. any advice you can give? thank you in advance!

My advice would be: try not to lose confidence, find some study partners, and think through your study plan to see if there should be any change to how you study and review the PTs. I was in a similar boat for July test where I scored about 5-6 points lower than my PT average (though it was largely due to some outside factor), but I was able to come back with a 11-point score increase on this August test. I personally changed my study plan considerably and really forced myself to dig deeper into my weakest section (RC). Lastly, trust yourself. If you can do it on regular PTs, then you can do it on the actual LSAT.

I'd also be interested in hearing what you did!

Please check on the upper post, thanks!

Thank you!!

#help I chose C for this. Can't you say that if other ants are using the resin, then that weakens the argument bc it just means that this is something normal for all ants to use and isn't specifically used for its disinfectant property and if you say that wood ants are the only ones that use the resin, then that strengthens the argument that it's being used for a specific reason and that reason can be the disinfectant property? I was super confident when picking C so I'm pretty confused right now

@ thank you! I'm going to try doing more timed tests then and hopefully that'll get my stamina and focus up a bit. It felt like 1 test a week was too little but wanted to get a pulse check on what others have found helpful.

@ thank you!! I think have two main issues - I either narrow down the ACs to two options and I choose the wrong one (happens regularly) or I just have no idea what the right answer could possibly be even with BR-ing and when I do see the correct AC, it still doesn't make sense that it could possibly be right. When BR-ing do you have tips on what to do when stuck between two very attractive answers? or will that just depend on question type? It happens too frequently for the score I'm aiming for.

How familiar do you think you are with the phrasing/understanding of answer choices and passages? Would you say you are able to predict an answer/even the direction of a passage? Quantity will help you to become familiar with the timing and everything, but I think really understanding the passages and answer choices is what helps you to improve your confidence. I usually spent a lot of time reviewing after initial blind review. I really tried to understand the flaw of the passages, as I got better, I was able to predict where a passage is going and what an accurate answer choice would look like. So this confidence definitely helped me with staying calm because I know I'm at the point that I really have a grasp on the passage and the answer choices.

I think I'm getting to the point where I can anticipate the correct answer for the most part but there's definitely room for me to improve on that and to get better at seeing through the LSAT's tricks. I can get very easily tripped up when i see unfamiliar phrasings. I honestly think I need to work on my confidence because for quite a few questions on the test I thought I knew the answer but I refused to choose anything yet and moved on out of fear that I was somehow not seeing something. I think i'll up my tests to 3-4 per week - do you think that's reasonable? I don't really need to spend as much time blind reviewing as i used to since I don't flag very many questions anymore so there's less that I'm unsure of and need to spend time on.

@ My first section was LR too which is typically my worst and for some reason i was super thrown off by the phrasing in the answer choices. since I couldn't move quickly during the first few questions, i ended up almost running out of time on the section which made me freak out even more. running out of time hasn't happened in over two months so I was shocked at how much difficulty I was having. I think i was also refusing to pull the trigger on quite a few questions and kept telling myself i'd come back to them which also messed up timing for me. i was just so nervous to choose an answer and end up getting it wrong. i'm also consistently -0 on LG but changed my answer at the last second for a substitution question and i realized when time was up that i was right the first time around. i think second-guessing myself just generally hurt me on this test. i needed to be more confident that i knew what i was doing.

@ @ I've been taking 2 practice tests every week for the past two months. Do you think I should increase to 3? I've done pretty much all of the recent practice tests and the extra LR sections in them. do you think it would be worth re-doing any of them? or should i move to older tests? i just don't know how many tests will get me to the point of thinking that the actual test is just another practice test.

I’d also love to join! Scoring in low 160s now but want to get at least 170 by October. My email is Saber.israa@.com!

Hi all! I'm taking the August LSAT and likely registering for October too. I'm stuck in the low 170s and really want to get my PT score up into at least the mid 170s to give myself room for nerves on test day. I'd appreciate any advice you may have for study tips for these next few weeks.

Here's where I am/what I've been doing:

  • my recent scores have ranged in the 168-174 range. My two most recent tests were 170 which was disappointing to see since that's a decline in score.
  • the general break down for each section is as follows: -0 for LG, -1 or -2 for RC, and -2 or -3 per LR section
  • I've gone through LSAT Trainer, most of powerscore and the first 8 chapters of loophole
  • I've been doing drills for LR (my weaknesses are Strengthening, Weakening, SA, MBT, and MBF)
  • I've been taking 1 practice test per week and doing written blind reviews for any LR questions I flag (typically 10 per LR section)
  • My question is, do I continue with just taking 1 test a week, blind reviewing, and doing one section per day at random or do I up the ante and start taking more than 1 test per week?

Also, do I continue with the written blind review and just do a regular review of ones I was unsure about? it's time consuming and I'm not sure how helpful it is at this stage but I also don't want to slack at this point.

    Thank you all in advance!

I'm re-taking the test in October. I don't think I did particularly well in August since I choked and just couldn't focus on the rest of the test. I took a couple of days off but will get back to 2 tests per week and daily timed sections. I need to figure out how to deal with the nervousness that comes with the actual test - if anyone has any tips, I'd much appreciate it!
