Waitlist. 2nd LOCI? desperately need advice

Hello 7sagers,

I am currently waitlisted at my first choice law school. I visited the school in March and met with the assistant director of admission. She and I had a great conversation when I visited the school- I told her why I wanted to go to this law school and that I took the lsat a couple times to get a score that satisfied the school's requirement etc. She told me to keep in touch, and we've emailed each other maybe three times since.

I had already sent her my LOCI in April when I found out about being on the wait list, and she told me via email that the school will start reaching out to the wait list candidates in early May. I'm a little nervous I haven't heard anything yet.

Should I send her another LOCI sometime this week? I don't know if sending another LOCI would be too much? My lsat score meets the school's range, but my GPA is slightly lower (GPA- 3.3). I wanted to explain this situation to the school?

I worked as a TV reporter a week after graduating from college. I spent majority of my junior and my senior years of college working with various tv stations to work on my audition reels because I thought working as a TV journalist was the only thing I wanted to do. I also worked part time jobs to pay for books, etc in my junior year. So my focus in college was to obtain multiple, various internships instead of trying to make all A's in my classes (but now, I wish I had).

I'm wondering if I should send an additional short LOCI (one page) explaining my GPA? The assistant director told me in March when I visited that my LSAT score met the school's range but that my GPA was slightly low. So, I'm thinking my GPA is probably the big reason why I was put on the wait list, and that's why I wanted to see if it might be a good idea to send an additional LOCI sometime this week? Or, is this sending a second LOCI too much?

Thank you all for your time reading this. I'm getting anxious, and I wanted to seek your advice.

I was put on a wait list, so I sent that school a LOCI about 2 weeks ago; I got an email a couple days ago saying I have been moved and put on Priority Waitlist. But what is the difference between Priority Waitlist and regular wait list?

Also, how do often should I follow up with the school so I can improve my chance of getting accepted?

Should I send a "Why X School" essay or another LOCI in the next 3 weeks or so?

Any advice on how I can follow up with the school so they don't forget about me, and I don't seem like a stalker?

Thanks so much.

Do i have a shot or is this bad?

i applied to one law school late in December right when my lsat score came out. My application currently is on Hold- under second review. When i visited the law school, the admission told me my lsat score was "in the range" but my gpa was slightly lower than their median. My gpa is 3.25 but their goa is 3.4. In cases like mine, do you think I may get eventually rejected? Should I give up hope? it's taking a very long time and Im not sure if this is a bad sign? Im just getting really anxious. Thoughts?

@ it's one of my top choices! Any suggestion/thoughts on what you think I should do? The email said "this is not a wait list" so should I hold back on writing LOCI?

@ thanks for your reply. Is there anything I can or should do to see if I can improve my chances of getting accepted? I know the email states it's not a wait list...but should I send in a LOCI? Or should I just wait? Thanks so much for your help.

7 sagers or other experts...

Please help. I just received this email from one of the law schools I've applied to last month. I don't know what this means?

It's the first update I've heard back from a law school I've applied to.

The email said "this is a normal step" and "not a wait list" ?

What does this mean exactly? IF it's not a wait list, what is it exactly? Isn't being placed on "Hold" mean wait list? Why a second review? Please help!

"Your application for admission has been reviewed, however, a final decision cannot be made at this time. Your application has been placed on "Hold" pending a second review. This is a normal step in our process and not a Wait List.

Due to the number of worthy applications we receive each year, decisions do not always come easily. Your application will be re-evaluated at a later date for a decision. We will keep you posted on your status.

We appreciate your patience and the time you took to apply. You may continue to monitor the status of your application by logging on to our website. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office."

Submit application before/after Dec Score?

I've already spoken to a few of you on the forum, but just wanted to see what others thought as well:

Would it be best for me to submit my application to law schools before or after the December score comes out?

I've already taken the LSAT before and didn't do too well. So I was going to write an addendum.

However, if I didn't do too well on the December test, then I don't think I should submit an addendum.

But if I wait to apply until my December score comes out, would that be "too late" and hurt my chances of getting accepted?

Or, do I go ahead and apply now without an addendum?

Please help! Thank you all so much for all your help.

December score on applications

Hi- This may sound like a silly question, but I just wanted to double check and make sure----- how do we indicate on our application that we want the law school to WAIT for my December score?

I want to go ahead and apply as soon as possible to law schools because I know it's best to go ahead and submit applications as early as possible (now that it's December) but I want them to use my December 2017 score. Since it hasn't been released yet, how do I make it clear on the applications on LSAC that I want them to WAIT and consider my December 2017 score?

Thanks so much!

Timing problem.. help!

Im freaking out a little... so, I miss way more questions when I do a timed test vs untimed test.

I'll usually miss like 3- 5 questions on a lr section untimed but when I time myself, I will miss like 9 questions on a lr section.

I'll miss about 4-5 questions on rc (my most difficult section), but when timed, i miss like 12 questions or more.

Definitely not good.

Also, on timed tests, i miss more on my second lr section than first...and usually i will start missing a bunch of questions toeards the end of the section. Is this test fatigue?

Has anybody struggled with missing more questions on timed tests and dealing with test fatigue? If so, any tips and advice that might help?

Please and thank you!

Hi, I'm interested! I'm new to the forum, so this may be a silly question, is this an online session? If so, will there be a link or something for us to use to tune in? Thanks so much!

I haven't been hitting my target score. I'm a few points away, but I haven't been hitting it.

I signed up for the September LSAT, but now I'm thinking about rescheduling it to December.

I didn't want to do it because I thought maybe that might mean law schools might have already filled up most of their spots by December, so I may have a smaller chance of getting in. Really wanted to start law school next year, and I thought taking in September would be best for timing purposes, but i am not hitting the score I need to hit, so now I'm leaning more towards rescheduling to December. i'm just having a really tough time deciding, so I wanted to get your opinions on this matter.

Thoughts? Advice/suggestions?

Thanks so much.

Can anybody tell me what this answer choice is exactly saying? I just want to know what it's trying to say because I don't think I'm completely understanding it.

It was a flaw in reasoning question (Preptest December 2015, Section 2, LR, Question 18.)

Answer Choice E from this particular question says "makes use of an assumption that one would accept only if one has already accepted the truth of the conclusion."

This may be a dumb question, but I really can't figure out what this answer choice is exactly saying... can someone explain this for me? Thanks so much!

@ Thank you so much for your advice! I haven't heard of Nicole's RC strategy... is it like a video or a blog? Where can I find that exactly? Do I just type in Nicole's RC to find it?

And I've heard about The Trainer by Mike Kim, and I've read positive reviews where people said the RC section was very useful. Did you buy the book or did you just find some information on it online? Some people suggested that buying the book just to study for the RC was useful, but wanted to know what you thought?

Sorry for asking so many questions but thank you again! I really appreciate your help.

Struggling with Reading Comp

I'm struggling with Reading Comp.. pretty badly. I miss like a total of 10 questions on my Reading Comp sections... that is not good.

Has anybody here ever struggled with Reading Comp but found a technique/way that helped you perform really well on Reading Comp now?

I always summarize each paragraph, underline/circle key words and try to understand how all the paragraphs are connected/related after I finish reading a passage. However, I still keep missing like 8-10 question. But I'll usually get down to 2 answer choices (wrong answer choice and correct answer choice), but I'll often times end up choosing the wrong answer choice! Augh.

Timing is also a problem for me. I take about 3-4 minutes reading and analyzing the passages and I Feel like I'm not spending enough time on the questions. I feel rushed and when I see that I only have about 10 minutes left to do my last passage, I start panicking.

Please help. I feel like if I can just do better on my RC section, I'll be able to reach the score that I want.

If you have ever struggled with the RC section in the past, but you've now found a way to do well on it, please teach me your ways!
