I think it really depends on who you're asking from when considering when you should start. I've had recommenders do it almost immediately and some take weeks. Considering you'll be asking attorney's i'd want to give them ample time. Think about when you want to submit your apps, and work backwards if that makes sense!

@NRT i always go back and redo sections after a couple of weeks to make sure that i actually did understand every single question. if i still have misses then something isn't clicking which lets me know what i need to focus on. I do this rather than a wrong answer journal.

@Walrus Great idea! maybe its because I've been out of school for a while because in undergrad i was able to get through long cases for my con law class. Definitely need to practice reading substantive passages.
