hi OP, I'm in a similar situation. I'm scoring in the 161/162 range with one outlier of 165, and I'm aiming to get 165+ eventually. I think LG is the fastest way to improve your score! One thing that might help you is using 7Sage's flex converter as motivation. For example, on my past tests, I put in my LR and RC scores and go, "okay, if I got one less wrong on LG I would have gotten __, or two less and gotten __," and just do that to see my potential. I think my 161s/162s ended up jumping to like 166 or even 169 once. You got this! Feel free to pm if you're interested in working together to improve LG before November!

hi! I also struggle with LG too. are you looking for study buddies? I've gotten my LG down to about -5 to -3 (still looking to improve) so maybe we could help each other.

hi! I have a similar experience with LG — I despise them with a burning passion. I really used to struggle with the sense of being out of "control" during the games section. To me, pretending you are in control is the most valuable thing I've learned. If I feel myself starting to panic, or get frustrated (increased heart rate, anxiety) I just close my eyes for a few seconds and breathe. This might sound dumb, but I just continually remind myself something to the effect of "its okay, the answers are right there in front of you, look at the rules again and just try it again." It sounds small but it really has helped me. I think I decreased the amount I was getting incorrect in LG by about half just by learning to keep calm and focus more.

Gap Year? Apply this cycle?

Hi everyone,

As the title states, I feel like I'm in a rut. I've been consistently studying 6-7 days a week since June. I started off in June 2020 with my diagnostic of 150, and my most recent PT's have been 165, 161, and 162. I started with PowerScore in July, and to be honest...I really wish I had my $1215 back after using 7sage for the past weeks. I'm only 19% through the CC and feel like I have just wasted my entire summer. I'm scheduled to take the October and November exams. In a perfect world, I'd be able to have enough time go to through the entire CC at a steady pace and give 100% effort rather than feeling like I'm racing some imaginary clock to my impending doom.

For reference, my LSAC GPA is 3.93 from UCLA. My ideal schools would be USC or UCLA, because I'd like to practice on the West Coast. I frequently read posts on Reddit or on this discussion forum and see users with a similar GPA scoring 170+. What am I doing wrong? Maybe I am just a bad test taker, but I feel like I could and should be scoring higher. I don't want this to come off as arrogant in any way, but I feel like I would be "wasting" a relatively good GPA I've built up only to get a score in the low 160s, and I really don't know where to go from here. I know I can do better — I've had BRs of 167, 172, and even 175. My averages are -5 LG, -6 LR, and -7 RC.

I'm looking for advice or to hear if any of you guys have had a similar experience. Time is passing so quickly, yet I am just not where I want to be. With my current averages, I'm expecting to get 160-162 on the exam in October. Is it worth it to take October and November and apply this cycle and see what happens, or should I wait until next year? I technically cannot postpone October but I still can switch my November date. If I was to apply this cycle, and hypothetically get accepted to a T50, I would just feel haunted by the "what if?" if I had taken time to seriously improve my score and reach a higher potential. On the other hand, with the world as uncertain as it is today, I don't even know if I could improve my score well enough to pay off the risk of postponing my career by 1 year. I'm graduating in March 2021, and I would have from potentially November 2020 until the August 2021 exam to study.

Please help! I'm also completely open to study buddies! Feel free to reach out and message me. Thanks for reading, have a great day!

Updated LOR

Hello!

I had begun the law school application process last year, but opted for a gap year instead. On my LSAC account, I still have my LORs from last year. I'm planning on using the same recommenders, but how do I go about updating these LORs? Is this done from the recommender end? Do I need to instruct my recommenders to delete and re-upload? Or, am I supposed to "hide" these LORs and print out and email new LOR requests?

This process is all new to me and I would appreciate any insight. Thank you!

I totally agree w/ using 7Sage! I was using PowerScore and consistently got -7 to -10 in LG and could never finish in time, and then I took 2 weeks off to study with 7Sage and got -5 but had 8 minutes to spare. If anything, I'd suggest taking a step back to de-stress. I took off 10 days from taking PT's to just drill and re-learn my weak points. I witnessed a jump from 158/159 --> 165 yesterday, with a 174 BR. Don't give up!

hello! I'm in the same boat as you — I score around 159/161 and I'd like to get a 165 too. I'm shooting for October or November but will probably withdraw if my PT's don't start averaging higher. This very last month I'm just drilling my weakest point, which is LG. I think if you could target your weaknesses in specific drills rather than purely PTs, you could see some growth.

hello, i recently switched over from Powerscore and the 7sage interface is quite different. I'm trying to take a practice test (digital) now but I can't figure out how to underline / highlight. any help would be appreciated. thanks!

edit: i already cleared my cache and my digital tester looks different than the version i have seen in other explanations on this forum

Hi there,

Sorry for the trouble. The highlighting and underlining tools are located to the top right of the Digital Tester. Please see the screenshot below:

You should be able to tap on these tools and then select the text you wish to highlight or underline. If you do not see these tools on your Digital Tester, please let us know.

You can also try to force refresh the page by scrolling to the bottom of the page and tapping on "Force Refresh." See the screenshot below:

If you are still having trouble, please let us know what device you are using (Windows or Mac) and what browser so that we can further investigate the issue. We find that the Chrome browser works best with our site.

Hello! Thank you for helping. I do NOT see the highlighting and underlining tools. I'm using a Mac with Google Chrome as my browser. I tried the force refresh and also cleared my cache, but still cannot see the tools. My icons look completely different from the image you posted.

The only icons I can see are 3 lines, then a battery, then an hourglass, and a person with an X. I actually logged in onto my account using a family member's iPad and I could see the icons. I just can't see them on my laptop, which is what I use to study. Hopefully we can figure out this issue! I really struggled yesterday attempting to take a PT without these tools, and my score definitely showed the struggle.

A → /B necessarily includes A ←some→ /B, and therefore any individual instance of an A that is /B.

A → /B negates A → B, but the minimum you need (or the standard negation for this test) is to show that in fact there is an instance of A that is not B, or A ←some→ /B

Thank you for the response! I'm still a bit confused — why in one instance is there an "and" and in another, a "some"? I understand that "-->" inherently implies some, but what is the relationship between "and" and "some"?

Not (A-->B) Question

Hi all, quick question!

In the Harder MBT Questions unit, JY covers two questions that involve the negation of embedded conditionals. I'm a little confused on the negations, and was hoping someone had some insight.

PT 33 S1 Q11:

A --> B

NOT (A -->B) which becomes:

A some /B

PT 30 S2 Q20:

(A -->B) --> /C

C --> NOT (A-->B) which becomes:

C --> A and /B

Does anyone understand why the negation of (A-->B) in one problem resulted in a some statement, while in another problem resulted in an and statement? Thank you!
