I'm considering "speeding" through the reading and trying my best to retain the info then go for all 4 passages

@ seems like a good idea, assuming I complete 4 passages. I've been told many times to do 3 and go for accuracy very often, however it doesn't seem to be paying off. You can tell by my scores 14-17.

@ @.hopkins In all honesty it's not that I really dread the RC section nor the content, it just comes to answering the questions correctly that I struggle with. That and timing, I rarely finish 3 passages. Boredom isn't too big of a problem, thanks fort the advise though.

142 ---> 157 Average last 5 tests. Now that I see the time spent from everyone, I see I have a long ways to go. That was with 3 months time about 20 hours a week.

RC help please

Everyone,

I've practiced every part of the test but the one section that fails to improve is RC. As a result, it prevents me frm getting the scores I want. I've tried annotating, using the memorization method, doing 3 sections for accuracy, but nothing seems to help it improve. I'm currently seeing 14-17 correct in that section. Pretty far off from the rest of my test. Does anyone have any suggestions or did they start doing something that just made it click for them? I've also been working through the Manhattan RC book but I'm not seeing any improvements as a result. I'm willing to put any amount of effort or time in to achieve it.

Thank you.

If you guys are getting -0 to -3 what are your PT scores? RC is my worst section, if I had -3 on RC my PT scores would be close to 170. I average -5 on LR and -5 on LG but still -10 on RC

Improvements in PT's

Hey guys, I've decided the best study plan for myself is to take Pt's once or twice a week, then go back and essentially blind review by understanding where each of my mistakes were made (all while going through the lessons 7sage provides). On my second practice test after diagnostic, I jumped 3 points. Today on my third, I went down 1 point. In the scheme of things, I feel like this if anything was an improvement. While taking the third PT, I didn't feel very confident with a lot of the questions, and thought I did much worse than the second PT, however that was not the case. Anyways, back to the point of this, do you guys think this is a good strategy? I know I can't expect a point jump every test, but maybe after 20 PT's, my score will be up 10 points.

Kaplan

I'm already using 7Sage, I bought the regular version. I was wondering if the way Kaplan (In Class) teaches contradicts what 7sage teaches. I know there are bad reviews on Kaplan, but I know someone who took it here (Nevada) and they said it improved their score and the teacher was helpful. I know it's over $1000 but that really isn't a big issue. Just like the course says, why spend 4 years on your GPA and only 1 month on the LSAT if they are both considered equally? You could say the same for paying $30,000 on undergrad education but complaining about LSAT prep prices. (Not saying 7sage isn't a great course at an affordable value)

Blind Review Help

So on my diagnostic, i'm not sure I did the blind review correctly. I transferred all my answers over to the answer sheet on 7sage, then it just gave me my regular and blind review score. When do I go back after I complete the practice test to review my answers without time constraints? Before or after transferring them to 7sage?

Thoughts on LSAC policy change

Has anyone thought that the decision to stop the distribution of prep tests might be good for us competition wise? In the future, LSAT test takers will not have the old tests to review and practice from. Maybe this gives us an advantage.

In the description for the starter course, it says I have access to 300+ printable problem sets. Are these the problems at the end of the lessons or am I missing something?

Logic Games

The method on 7sage seems like it would work, but I have some concerns. This is a category i'm having trouble with improving on. From what I understand, 7sage suggests you should go over the games once you finish, then keep reviewing it until you have it down 100%. I've seen the "Fool Proof Method", but I was wondering if on the LSAT I take in June, is there only a certain number of ways games are portrayed, that can be solved with a set number of methods? This is hard to explain, but if I memorize how to do the LG on the 70-74 PT should I be pretty solid for the LSAT?

Medication during LSAT

Does anyone know if this is allowed or looked down upon. Furthermore, do I need to check my prescription in with someone? I take medication for my ADD, and I was wondering if I would be allowed to take it during the 15 minute break. Please no judgements, this is a completely legal prescription.

Fool Proof LG method

Can someone please correct me if I'm wrong? From what I've collected I print out 10 copies of a LG from the syllabus, then I do one under extremely loose time constraints, then I do them over and over until I can complete the game in 5 minutes. Then choose a different game and repeat? Thanks!

Increasing from 150 to 160

Hey guys i'm trying to be a realist. I'm aiming for a 160 on the LSAT in June. I started out with a low diagnostic, 142. Since then I've improved about 10 points. it's been about 4 weeks, now I'm seeing PT's between 150-153. Is the jump from 150- 160 harder to attain? I've heard it takes a lot of hard work and months to go from 160-170. I am currently studying about 10 hours a week, then when school ends in mid-may I'm taking an in-class course through Nathan Fox LSAT. I will be able to commit around 25 hours a week a month before the June LSAT. Any tips/thoughts/advice/estimations/theories?

@.hopkins @ in my opinion you should try to be less ignorant in saying what's easily attainable for different students. I highly doubt every single student studying for the LSAT can attain the 160 range from just this course.

It's so frustrating because part of me thinks the babbling babies question was in my first LR, I had LR RC LR LR LG, but I'm almost certain based off other questions that LR1 was my experimental. I guess I'll have to wait and see. Something tells me this is gonna be a -12 scale for 170, although -14 would be great lol

Question for previous LSAT takers

In between the sections, i.e. section 1 and 2, is there a longer break than the 7Sage proctor on the app gives? On the app it seems like its about 20 seconds, but I've read on online forums you have time to take a sip of water and reset watches etc. Any insight?

Stuck in mid 150 range

any advice for getting out of the mid 150's? My last 4 PT's have been 155-156, with a highest of 157. My LR average is 15-19, LG average 17-20, RC average 15-17. Was there anything you guys did differently that pushed you into 160's?

@ It's not scaled based off everyone's performance, it's scaled off of the writers perceived difficulty before the exam is even given out.

Good way to simulate LSAT format

Hey guys, when taking PT's, in order to simulate the conditions on the LSAT, I use the proctor and cut out each section from the 10 official LSAT books. I cut them so they're still attached, as if the real LSAT would be. They're like $20 on Amazon for 10 tests. Not a bad deal.

What do law schools think....

I was just wondering, what does it look like to a Law school when you re-take the LSAT, but get a lower score the second time? I know all the law schools i'm going to apply to do NOT average your scores, but instead consider the highest score.

The real LSAT format

Hey guys, I was wondering when I take the LSAT in June, what form does the LSAT come in? Is it like a booklet? I want to know because as of now i'm taking the PT's with loose pages. Also, on my lsac.org account theres a place to print out a bubble sheet, do they not supply one?

Anyone take PT 72 (June 2014) nervous about Monday

In my opinion, and based off of what I've seen on these forums, PT 72, or the June 2014 test was extremely difficult. I scored 4 points lower than my average on it. Being that it was the June test one year ago, does anyone think the June 2015 test Monday will also be similarly difficult? The scale for June 2014 was graded easier (because of the harder test) than most June tests before it. I'm nervous.

Leading up to June

Basic question: How many PT's should I be doing every week when I'm about 4 weeks out from the test?

Background: I am taking the in class Nathan Fox LSAT class, which goes from May 12th to June 3rd. The class advocates blind reviewing as well as the fundamentals of 7Sage, so I know there most likely won't be a problem there. His class, however, has us taking 1 PT a week. Should I add more into the mix or just review?

User Avatar

@ i think by all them, people mean all of them. If not, I would say as many as you possibly can. 2-4 a week depending on your rate of study.

User Avatar

@.hopkins True, but I would still hold that there is some correlation between score jumps. i.e. if someone took 5 weeks to get from 150 to 155, they can't possibly expect to be in the 160's in 2 weeks. (Hypothetical)

Finally Seeing Improvement, Tips

Whats up guys, on my most recent PT my score jumped 5 points. I know this could very well be a fluctuation, but with this PT I really took the "Lowest hanging fruit" strategy seriously, by skipping almost every question I wasn't sure of then going back to it if I had time. Any tips on continuing to improve? At this point skipping questions is still a viable option because realistically I want to score in the high 150's. By the way it was prep test 72, in my opinion the LG section was the most difficult I've seen thus far. Thanks guys.

You can base it off of the time it took you to see other improvements. How long did it take you to go from 150 to 154? If it was 4 PT's or less I think you should have time to get to 160. Just take 2-3 PT's a week and review them

Practice problem video's

For every video where JY goes through different questions, in the lessons on the syllabus, I can get the answers correct from pausing the video at the beginning. Yet when I take PT's I am missing over half of them. Are the problems he uses in instructional video's "easier" or did he pick easier ones out for the video's? Or is it that I need to practice test taking more under timed conditions. Thoughts?

I've done 5 PT's and still scoring in the 143-146 range. I finished all of the course work and it just doesn't seem to help. I always think I do well on the LR but i'm always way off. Anyone else feel this before? The June LSAT is starting to look too close to raise my score.
