C is giving a reason for the authors not the immediately destroy away their work before they die because they might actually be good upon revision, and actually questions the soundness, or weakens, of the author's augment. Whereas A is talking about some writers who may not even be the ones in question in the stimulus, and is pretty unrelated. Hope this helps.
