I think it is two years starting from your first take
CL, don't put too much pressure on yourself. What is your undergrad GPA? Under the current climate getting into UIUC I believe is a lot more easier than the past. And they've been dropping pretty quick (not sure if that's a good or bad sign for you though)..
8 pts bump is not impossible as long as you see the patterns of the questions. you might wanna buy a book or get a tutor..
James, I freaked out in June. I was sweating all over the place the whole time.
The second time it does get better
Marshall if you were asking me, yes i got a 162
Marshall, same here. I bombed my second LR by missing 10 questions here. But I was lucky enough to bump my score by 6 pts..and I also have run out of PTs...
just do them again anyways. get a rhythm it helps you
CL, what are your target schools? I also want to apply first but I don't know if I should wait until my December score comes out..
How long have you guys studied? October test was my second LSAT, I got a 6 pts bump from 156 to 162. If you study long enough (finished most recent PTs), try go through them again, you will get a rhythm that really helps. LSAT is learnable, repetition is key....
Thanks Katherine. Are you also considering a 3rd try in December?
just got my Oct LSAT score. bombed my 2nd LR section. Retaking it in December with confidence :)
It is inevitable if you are an imperfect LSAT taker (aren't we all are)..just do your best to cut down missings in your weak sections.
just received my Oct score, had a 6 points jump but still below some of my reach schools' median. I see my improvement and am pretty sure that I can do better if do it one more time. Now my personal statement and everything else is done, so I will be able to concentrate.
Question is, does it look bad in front of admissions committee when they see my score from three consecutive testing date? I know this is a stupid question but I'm a little concerned. There are probably some other test takers just like me who is planning another run.
Still, I am kinda happy for my improvement. Wish you all reached your targeting score! If not, see you on December 7th :)
Feel like everytime I re-start my engine for PT after reviewing & resting even just for 3-4 days I got rusty..like terribly..
How much time you guys put in between your PTs? I know rest is critical to keep a clear head but too much interval time doesn't seem to work..
Taylor it's on their website..sorry i think its 152 not 142. but thats not the point.
my point is maybe he is a 152 LSAT also a Olympic gold medalist or the marine that killed Bin Laden..
so 152 is just an exception. they are Yale they do pick whoever they like, well 99% of the admitted are still above 175 I guess..
studying yes, PT no, because you don't get to use earplugs during the actual test. so better to download JY's awesome 7sage app and to simulate the real test by using "white noise" and "distraction" functions :)
i think the only way to get minimum score is to miss all questions.. and there is no way in the world you miss all questions..
so, don't worry..
JK, schools don't have cut offs for LSAT. Yale admitted a 152 last year.
Great comments JY. Yes I do realize that when selecting a school, LST and Abovethelaw carry more weight than US News ranking that includes even peer review and evaluation..
and yes, the system is fucked up. that's part of the reason US government ends up borrowing trillions of dollars from China, Japan etc. They are not acting responsibly.
I guess non being able to get into T14 = try your best to final a regional school that places well in a certain state. I do know that beside T14 US News Ranking basically doesn't really mean much because schools are much more limited on a regional scale. Univ of Kentucky has a way much better employment prospect overall than W&L, despite being ranked like 60 positions lower.
I also wonder when they will release employment numbers for the class of 2013? I went to ABA they only have 2012 numbers. I guess schools don't report until 9 months after graduation?
Thanks Nilesh for the comment and encouragement! Actually I think I'm more concerned about job opportunities for non T14s. Although I know those TSL who claims "make T14 or live on the street" are just trolling (I sincerely think so), I can't be immune to what they said..but if they are true, why the rest 200 law schools are still open anyway? ha
you will get better eventually. i used to always get 15 pts in LGs then improved to -1 or -2 later on. However if you are taking the December LSAT you have to work fast..It took me a while to improve. and I suggest you to redo the logic games right after the timed PT. You will always be able to see the missing links then
Guys, I still have 12 complete PT (57-68) intact. Taking June LSAT on 6/23 (I'm taking it in Asia so the date is different).
Trying to divide entire 48 sections into 9 full PTs with 5 sections each and remaining 3 sections to keep me engaged during the last two days before test. Any thoughts? Good/bad idea?
Thank you msdaisy16 and JY!! You guys are absolutely right...TSL is bad for life.....I think the people here are much more amicable..
all they write on TSL is score 175 or go get a job at Starbucks..oh wait if you got into law school even Starbucks won't hire you...
third time taker here....chill like an ice pack...
i feel like people should always retake...it gives you a peaceful mindset...once you get to that mode, you will take the LSAT in test center just as you take a PT at home/lib, you are good to go.
Yeah I think you are right..I've been spending too much time on TLS Forum and started to think there are only T14 students- who get job and Non-T14 - who sleep on street...
Also I think you can never control your mindset on the test day, you may be able to stay calm as you take multiple LSATs but again someone retaking it can still bomb an entire LG..
A bunch of ppl on toplawschool just started to talk about keeping your mind LSAT-sharp just in case October score goes bad. But i know the gist is not to retake unless you actually see a solid improvement, right? But how do you gauge yourself? Based on PT? I've taken the LSAT twice already so I guess scores of most of my PTs for the second (October) LSAT doesn't count. I did have three fresh PTs including PT 69 done during September/October and scored 165-161-167(PT 69) so I'm kinda clueless about what kind score is my "normal“ range...
any thoughts?
my plan is take one prep test on Monday and another one on Thursday, while the test is on Sunday (I'm taking it in Asia).
What should I do in the last two days, Friday and Saturday? Drill a bit to stay alert but not too much?
What do you guys think?
Thanks!
thank god test in San Antonio wasn't getting cancelled.. tomorrow is supposed to be damn cold but the SUN just came out few hours ago so i guess we are good..not sure about other cities in Texas, pretty messed up everywhere, it's been 20 something all over the place
you buy them or download for free anywhere you can
CrackLSAT,
i think they modeled it according to iphone 5 or iphone 5s...for guys like you and me who are left behind by latest technology, we have to suck it up...i've been using my ipad....
why are you doing 65 at last instead of 69 or 70?..? and i will suggest you save some PTs if you haven't ruled out the possibility of retake.
definitely DO NOT break apart a complete PT..especially when they are 69/70...
if it is loaded on Youtube, obviously it is not an option for you. try the alternative choice.
I just did my recon and found out that the desk I will be using is the type that is attached to the chair and it's extremely small...duh..I took my June test in China so we were taking the test on a big flat regular desk..unlike the one we are using in the US..small desktop area doesn't really allow any room for you to lay out the two page booklet and put your answer sheet next to it...it's gonna cause some trouble for me but I guess I'll just have to suck it up..
Any thoughts?
Paige, what happened after in that story? Did the applicant re-apply after being rejected or was s/he able to pull out from waitlist pool by updating the score?
Guys,
I emailed a couple schools They responded:
1. submit when you are ready and your application is its strongest.
2. An early submission doesn't necessarily give you an advantage.
3. they will go ahead review your application based on your current score/if you let them know you are retaking, they will hold until the updated score comes out.
4. decisions are hard to change for example you want to bargain for more $$ or turn a rejection to admission..
