allergies buggin out?

I only have a minor allergy to ragweed, but it's been hitting me pretty hard. I had to pause several times a section during my last PT just to blow my nose.

I sorely hope that my symptoms have quelled slightly by next Saturday as I don't want to be the guy sniffling throughout the entire test, nor do I want to waste my own time by constantly blowing my nose.

Has anyone dealt with this before? Should I take a pill the night before as I'm heading to bed and once again upon waking?

Good luck to everyone in the home stretch.

elated to be heading to Osgoode!

As someone who comes from a low-income background, I appreciate how 7sage levelled the playing field for me.

Good luck to everyone!

Don't know if your doctor mentioned this to you or if you're already aware, but SSRI's take about 4-6 weeks to start working in your favour, should you be so lucky as to be prescribed one that works for you.

In that period between when you start the medication and when it kicks in, you could be prone to side effects. Knowing this, I would attempt to take the medication a long time before your test date so you can both avoid the potential detrimental side effects to your studying and to afford yourself the time to possibly try out a new medication should you find it necessary.

Can't say I had a terrific experience with the two SSRI's I was prescribed before I decided to wean myself off medication, but plenty of people need to try several before they find one which has any efficacy.

I've had better luck meditating and exercising regularly to regulate my anxiety, although it still affects my sleep at times. I'm currently training for a marathon in November, and the organization of my training block + the actual running involved has been restorative and something I look forward to as a reprieve from the drudgery of studying. Being physically tired also helps me get to sleep, even though my mind is still prone to racing.

Your situation sounds a little more unique, as you are skeptical of the SSRI's ability to help with your OCD. My unprofessional advice would be seek the second opinion of another doctor/psychologist who could help steer you in the right direction or settle your thoughts on the matter. You know how your OCD affects you best, so I would take everything with a grain of salt.

Best of luck!

normally nothing, but Noisli's white and brown noise functions have proved useful in drowning out noise when in a library.

occasionally, I'll put on some Chopin during BR.

hi, english major here.

I'd try reading the works of cultural theorists as opposed to novels/other works of fiction. While dense prose could certainly help in your ability to pick through similarly stuffy RC passages, I think that getting a loose handle on the writing style of prominent theorists could aid you in dealing with the passages you are concerned about.

I compiled a brief list of critics I encountered in my undergrad that would help you acclimatize to the jargon used in the humanities/art history. Some of their work is absolutely maddening to parse through (Bhabha particularly), while others (Said's Orientalism) are enlightening.

Theodor Adorno

Sara Ahmed

Arjun Appaduari

Roland Barthes

Homi Bhabha

Judith Butler

Noam Chomsky

Jacques Derrida

Frantz Fanon

Michel Foucault

Antonio Gramsci

Donna Haraway

bell hooks

Edward Said

Eve Sedgwick

Gayatri Spivak

Slavoj Zizek

I'd also try accessing the databases/e-journals such as JSTOR that your university/library might have access to. This would provide you with a veritable goldmine of useful material to dive into. You could also check out a general art history textbook.

As far as websites to check out, I'd look into artforum, Salon, and The Paris Review.

@ talented side with a brilliant manager who nevertheless fails to win trophies because of their lack of mettle.

I'll be interested to see how revenue from their new stadium affects their internal structure and possible transfer dealings. At the moment, I think retaining all their current stars in the existing wage structure is untenable and Levy knows that.

Kane just got quite a sizeable bump in pay (reportedly making upwards of 200,000 pounds a week), but I understand from a friend who knows someone who spoke to his dad, that staying in North London was never in doubt.

It's the other players like Dele, Son, Rose, Alderweireld and others of the same ilk whose allegiances will be tested by big money offers to change clubs. We already saw Walker leave for City last year, I think the exodus could continue, especially with the players knowing they're not being paid in accordance with their skills.

But yeah, I hate Tottenham, especially after the 2016 match at the Bridge where they bottled it and should have had half their team sent off. That Dembele only got a 6 match ban for gouging Costa's eyes is inexcusable to me, the penalty would have so much worse if the aggressor had been Costa. Tottenham and Liverpool are media darlings for no reason, they don't win anything or get results when it matters.

World Cup

Who are you supporting during the World Cup? Are you worried it will disrupt your focus?

I’m Croatian and hoping for a good showing from our national team in what is likely our golden generation’s last WC together, but I’m not too optimistic as we always find a way to bottle it.

Should Croatia be eliminated, I’ll be cheering on the teams of whatever Chelsea players remain in the tournament. Belgium definitely have a fair shout, and I fancy England to go far under Southgate.

if you're worried about the legibility of your handwriting, perhaps type your thank you message and print it on a nice personal letterhead.

congratulations!

@ fair point. the switch to digital would also totally eradicate the chance that someone could bubble their answers into the wrong questions.
