I signed up to re-take the LSAT in September and apply this year for Fall 2015 admittance. I'm almost done with the 7sage course, but I haven't started taking the practice tests yet. I really want to be positive that I do my absolute best, so I'm thinking of moving my LSAT date to December. However, last year ours was rescheduled due to ice/inclement weather, and we took the test two weeks later. I think the score release was at the same time as the other December test takers. Should I risk taking the December LSAT to enter law school in Fall 2015, even with the slight possibility of winter weather affecting the test date? I really want a good scholarship and to get into the school of my choice.

If they offer, then you can read it and still say you waived the right to see it, even though they showed it to you (because it was unsolicited). You cannot ask to see it if you’re going to waive your rights. Generally you want to waive your rights because it gives more weight to the recommendation.
That is, if you guys are looking for suggestions:
"Let the Games begin!"
"We will destroy this LSAT, and when it is done and the test is finished, then you have my permission to live."
"You think Logic Games are your ally? You merely adopted Lawgic. I was born in it, molded by it. I couldn't finish the section until I came to 7sage, and by then the clarity was BLINDING."
*finds Logic Games Bundle* "J.Y., your precious armory! Gratefully accepted. We will need it."
I'm sorry I just really loved Bane... and I think Bruce could use some company
What's your GPA? Make sure that it is as high as possible and ensure studying for LSAT doesn't hinder that. GPAs are cemented after you graduate (and the LSAC doesn't factor in a Master's GPA). Schools definitely care about both numbers!
Hi everyone! An update has been posted above! All sessions will be held at 8:30pm ET.

For explanations, I tried to start by just answering the questions. Sometimes I couldn't quite explain my reasoning, which pointed back to either being rushed under timed conditions or not actually knowing what the question was asking.
Basic Example:
A) Correct
B) Circled this answer because it was my best guess and the wording is similar to the stimulus, but it doesn't actually affect the conclusion
C) This information is irrelevant
D) This weakens the argument
E) This explains a flaw in the argument but doesn't match what the stimulus is asking
As for the CC, I did self-study with the Powerscore Bibles my first time and I really wish I had started with 7sage. J.Y. does an excellent job of laying out the concepts of logic before doing a deeper dive into tackling the questions. I honestly would pause on PT-ing or at least keep it to once a week just to get a feel for the basics and see if any of them make things click better than before.
I also suggest this because Blind Reviewing started off taking forever. I should have started with sections and then worked up to full exams. But it takes less time the more often you do it! Give the first few lessons a run-through and then assess. If it feels redundant then feel free to skip ahead
Are you skipping questions? Something that dramatically helped me was skipping questions that I had no clue about and coming back to them at the end of the section. Same for LG. If the issue is timing, then skipping and returning may give you that extra bit of thinking time that you need.
When you BR LR, are you missing -8 before or after BR? When you come back to them, have you adequately identified the conclusion/premises in each stimulus? Part of doing LR well is knowing the connections between what the question stem is asking for and how the premises relate to the conclusions. For me, whenever I skipped a question and returned, identifying the conclusion and asking questions about support helped me remember what I was looking for and ignore extraneous information.
Lastly, I would highly suggest tutoring to identify issue areas. And I agree with @ in making sure that you are drilling question types to bring that accuracy up to timed sections.
@ the pep rally is the encouragement part! I think they had some special guests that shared their test-day strategies last time :)
@ thanks!!! I messaged you :)
if your laptop has a camera: I put my laptop in front of me and the test in front of the laptop, then angle the webcam to where all you can see is the test booklet. It may not clearly show the questions, but you have the questions in front of you so you can easily look back if you can't make them out.
Get ready! The next BR session for January test-takers will be this evening, Sunday, January 13th at 8:30pm EST (after J.Y.’s session)! We will be reviewing the Logical Reasoning sections from PT83. Don’t forget to see the Google docs below to list which questions you may have had the most trouble with so we can go over it during the call.
~~~~~~~~~~~
I am happy to announce that I will be leading the Blind Review study group for the January 2019 LSAT!
5 weeks until the LSAT!
We’ve got a few weeks before the exam, which is enough time to squeeze in a couple of tests for group sessions. 7Sage has kindly allowed the use of their webinar capabilities so we can get started right away! We welcome every person at every stage of preparation, from the startiest-of-starts to the reasoning experts. Either way, this is to support your ongoing efforts. Feel free to continue preptest-ing and practicing between study sessions.
Here's what you do (please watch the post Core-Curriculum webinar before joining: https://classic.7sage.com/webinar/post-core-curriculum-study-strategies/):
First, take the scheduled practice exam under timed conditions before the session. We will focus on the Logical Reasoning sections.
Next, blind review on your own by breaking down the stimulus, picking the answer choice you feel is correct, and write or type out your reasoning for each correct choice and 4 incorrect answer choices (which will help you remember your train of thought during the study session). Do not check your answers yet!
Then, input the most difficult questions into the excel spreadsheet before the session: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1jiEIFiUNbMvRxJQxhrux8HXpj7vWuvyg8hq3eHKQ9I0/edit?usp=sharing
Finally, we will review the test as a group on its scheduled date via GoToMeeting webinar: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/879623125. We’ll go over priority questions first, then review ways to attack the other questions. Bring your test as we will not be sharing screens.
Please, do not check your answers before the study session!
Part of the learning process is being able to solidify your reasoning by discussing with fellow group members. If you happen to know the right answer, please don’t say it - use reasoning to convince us that your answer is the right one! We probably won’t go over every question, but we will focus the ones that we had a lot of trouble with.
Tentative schedule: https://calendar.google.com/calendar?cid=NmVuNzlqZ25sMHVuOWQyZXEwaDJjc21vazRAZ3JvdXAuY2FsZW5kYXIuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbQ
If you're interested, please post a comment below (and notify me if you change your username afterwards as the tags will not update on their own). If neither study sessions work for you, message me! We may have enough people to create an alternate group.
Special thanks goes to @keets993 for doing such a great job on previous study groups!!
Ninja edit: fixed the 2nd BR date (should’ve been the 13th) and the years.
Ninja edit 2: Due to a few scheduling hiccups on my end, and J.Y.’s recently announced PT86 review sessions, (which I highly encourage everyone to check out if they haven’t already!), all sessions will be held at 8:30pm ET.
Ask recommenders if you can reuse the letters and tweak the essays at the beginning at least so they don’t look identical, and review it to make sure it’s perfect.
Ask someone to review your essays to make sure there weren’t any glaring issues.
Actually, when this application season dies down a bit, ask the admissions committee if they can give feedback on how to strengthen the application. It may be more than an LSAT score.
Apply early!
Does anyone know which test will be administered as a make up test for those test centers that were closed? An undisclosed February test or the same November test?
There’s a thread around here that says it will be the same test
You would think any make up tests would be undisclosed. The Sabbath test on Monday was a different version from the Nov 17 test.
Yeah, I’d expect the same but apparently even the accommodation exam is the same exam.
Edit: apparently another poster stated the make up would be undisclosed.
This week: Created a schedule which basically consists of studying for each section type (LG, LR, and RC) each day, either a full section or drills, based on need. PT with a recent PT (a few from 60-70 and a few from 70-85) each week. Finish BR-ing PT86, watching the LG explanation videos and foolproofing, then get back to foolproofing PT #16-35. I may need to go back and review #1-15 since I likely haven't taken them enough times.
Next Week: AM practice sections daily and PT Sunday or Wednesday. I guess I will take a break for the day of Christmas :P
I need to confirm that I’m not crazy, but did anyone think one of the LR questions on passwords and security looks like a similar question from a previous PT? I had 3 LRs so I don’t know if it’s experimental or not
I thought the exact same thing. See PT 11.
I DEFINITELY saw a repeat LR question and I'm kinda mad that I can't remember it right now!!!
Typically they'll reschedule for a few weeks from now! Sorry that happened and hoping for the best!
This made my night!!! Thanks @.Y. (and Pacaque)
Are we just starting a bit late?
Hey! Sorry for the delay, the PT86 webinar is still wrapping up and I am unable to start until it finishes. They'll likely be finishing up soon. Thanks for your patience!
Reminder: This review is this evening at 8:30 ET (after J.Y.’s review session ends!) ☺️
From what section was the question removed? Fingers crossed for games...
The last question in RC (multiverse)
This may be a bit unconventional, but is it possible to retake in January and ask for reconsideration? (If you can bring it above a 160 that is) I read that someone did exactly that, same cycle, and the admissions committee reversed their decision and accepted them. Best case scenario they let you in, worst case you still have a year to reapply.
I may have to withdraw. My most recent PTs were going great until I got to the newer tests, and then my score sloooowly went down again. This is after I took the LSAT last December, postponed it twice, hardcore studied for at least 4+ months... and my last few PTs are the exact same score that I got last December. The schools that I want are at least 14 away from my current, 4 points away from my best scores. I already took off an additional year to study. I think the worst part isn't even letting myself down, its having to tell people that I may wait another year to apply. It's just taking so long. Like so, so long.
Is taking another year to do better really worth the gains?
They already have your first deposit and you could always argue that the language doesn’t specify it. But an offer of admission is simply not the same as an offer to remain on the waitlist. In fact that’s not really an offer at all, it’s a way to see if you have continued interest in the school in case spots open up. I actually don’t know if any school expects you to remove yourself from waitlists. The only thing to lose is that deposit. If you’re worried still then just call and ask!
Waitlist is different from an offer of admission. Unless they ask you specifically to withdraw from all waitlists then you should be fine.
