You just have to keep drilling the games. Do them over until you nail it (or just start remembering what the answers were), then put it away and take it out a few days later and do it again. Continue until you can run the game smoothly with no pauses or errors. Replace with new game and repeat. Adjust scale as your schedule allows... I ran a set of 4 games every day (usually about 12-20 individual reps for a completely new set of games), and cycled 5 separate sets of games. It's not enough to "get" the game watching the video or given enough time. You are trying to train your brain to see patterns and inferences more efficiently... you don't want to have to think about it or remember. This test is about making everything automatic. If its something you still have to recall, on a timed run you will forget to do it or waste too much time remembering. The more games you master, the more patterns you will be familiar with and the more likely you are to succeed on any give new game. Games are the easiest place to collect points, but what people leave out is that it never feels like it until after you've mastered it. Just have faith in the process and keep grinding... they eventually click.

Awesome. Thank you sir

LSAT Study Gangnam

Hi! My name is Ken. I recently started studying for the LSAT again. I am wondering if anyone wants to do it together. I used to have a score of around 170s and can meet at Gangnam on weekdays preferably somewhere from 10 am-3 pm. Please let me know!

Just for some context, I was around a 3.5 GPA with a 177 LSAT. I was accepted to NYU but didn’t receive any scholarships or financial aid. I was also rejected from several other T-14 schools, even of a lesser rank. That said, I get frequent emails offering full scholarships to schools much further down the rankings list (e.g. Penn State Law).

Obviously, each application is different and the non-score factors definitely play a role, but if my experience is representative you might struggle with scholarships to T-14s but could be semi-competitive at a school like Emory if you get a high enough LSAT.

I have seen housing included in a few specific full-ride scholarships, but it’s rare.

Also, depending on your post-grad interests, you might consider the “Loan Repayment Assistance Programs” offered by many schools for working in a “public interest” role (Most government work, public defenders, nonprofits, etc.). At NYU, they cover almost all of your monthly payments so long as you make under $100,000, and they still provide scaled assistance if you make more than that. You still end up with a TON of debt (sigh…), but the impact of it on your life/choices is largely negated.

Wow, thank you. Which law school do you attend now?

Depends on the school, but generally (and somewhat counterintuitively) the better the school, the harder it is to "fail" and the smaller the impact poor performance will have on your career outcomes.

A lower ranked school will have conditional scholarships, stacked sections, broader grading curves centered on lower medians, and much more disparity in outcomes where sometimes single digit percentages (or even raw number of students) get into big law or clerkships, if any at all. A T14 will be the opposite, where everyone that doesn't shoot themselves in the foot goes to the type of job they want, and you have to basically not show up to the exam (exaggeration, but I mean actively decide to put zero effort in) to get less than a B-.

So while school will be stressful no matter what, invest the time now to get into the best possible school. That way the stress will be more about quality of outcomes rather than whether you'll be able to achieve them at all. Also, your classmates will be less competitive, making for better relationships and an overall more pleasant experience.

Awesome. Thank you. I hope everything went well at Cornell!

-Reading for structure not content.

-learning logic and the expression of it A->B

-order of operations Stem->stimulus->predict->eliminate->answer

-time management tools (skips, prioritization)

-blind review

-set up for success (creating gameboards, inferences)

There’s no secret that will allow you to magically gain points, you’ll need to develop skills, practice them and get a good sleep the night before the test. The rest is out of your control.

Good luck!

Thank you!

LSAT Study Group Gangnam Weekend

👥 Study Group Name: LSAT Study Group Gangnam Weekend

🔢 I'm currently scoring: 165-170

📆 My planned test date: N/A

📈 To study, I have been: [finishing the CC, taking a PT twice a week, drilling, etc]: I am going through PT1-30 now.

🔑 My goals for this group are: [to hold each other accountable, to hear other perspectives, etc] We can discuss.

🔍 We'll focus on: [Reading Comprehension, Logic Games, Logical Reasoning, etc]. We will do all sections.

📚 When we'll meet and what we'll do: I can only do weekend. We can talk further.

✅ How to join: Send me a DM or comment below please.

This is not directly related to LSAT but then at the same token, I believe it is because dealing is a big part of being a lawyer.

I always thought relationship is a deal; however, as I do more deals and deals, I believe this process is unending with the same "BS" people every time.

I am wondering what the logic is after the "deal."

What I am asking is if we have a logic behind our philosophy as "Relationship is deal"

Could we say "Dealing is bulldozing?"

It seems like there is a certain extent we have to agree to this deal even though it may be unfair. If that is the case, can we just bulldoze whoever and whatever -- institution, organization, people, one-man entity, family?

In the Art of the Deal by Donald Trump, he said we should be able to kick a family out if the tenant does not pay rent; however, if we read Stephen Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, Covey pretty much states to not bulldoze a relationship.

Please offer your thought here. Thank you! (:

Hey Ken -- I guess the question is what is the purported value from doing this?

According to the tutor, "I also had dictation exercises with the reading passages so that I can enhance my memory. I read a sentence/part of a sentence, wrote it somewhere else, and if I got even a single point wrong I did the whole sentence again from the beginning, and one sentence at a time I would finish the whole passage. After I got a 172 in April I did this exercise for the following 2 months. The June exam result was a 180 which was higher than my PT average."

Hi @. Former admissions officer here. Earlier posters gave good advice about reviewing the 509 Disclosures: https://www.abarequireddisclosures.org/Disclosure509.aspx. This is public information for all ABA law schools that go back about 10 years. You can select a law school, run the 509 Required Disclosure report, and see how the school has handled scholarship awards in the past. Another thing to remember is that a school will offer merit scholarships to secure the commitment of desirable applicants. Often times, an attractive GPA or LSAT can affect a scholarship award. If your GPA and/or LSAT is close to the 75% for a school, you may be in a good position to anticipate or ask for a merit award. Merit awards are affected by the school's scholarship budget for a given year, the behavior of the school's admitted applicant pool, the time in the admissions cycle, and (sometimes) the other offers a candidate has on hand. Good luck!

    Awesome. Thank you!

Iowa and Washington St. Louis give out tons of money. I don’t know where they get this money from, but they give out big money scholarships that cover full tuition or more to about 30% of their students. Other schools, like Harvard, may not give out any merit based scholarships at all. Northwestern is well known for offering very large, and guaranteed, scholarships to their ED admits. Most schools limit full-ride scholarships to less than 5%. So you’ve just got to find the stats and see where you’ll be competitive. Ideally, you’re looking for places where you’ll be comfortably above both medians and where you can leverage offers from higher ranked schools.

My UGPA is 3.55 which puts me in 25% percentile for Emory Law; however, 75% percentile for LSAT at this said school is 169. If I get a 175 or above on the LSAT, do you think that could possibly get me a scholarship to Emory Law? I am really looking to get as much high score as possible on the LSAT even though I am not necessarily trying to attend a T-14

All schools offer some type of scholarship. If you're looking at a school and wondering what the chance of you getting less than have, half to full, or more than full all you have to do is look at their 509 reports. Look at your UGPA and highest LSAT score to see where you would probably rank.

There's also another test prep site that offers a "scholarship estimator" on their page...that might be helpful for you as well.

This information helped me a lot. I have looked up information for Emory Law and I believe I have a fair shot at receiving a scholarship from that school should I get excel at LSAT. Thanks!

Just a note that these days, while there isn't universal conformity, the pay scale starts closer to $215k base than $150k, and I would expect more firms to fall in line over time if they don't want to start hemorrhaging associates.

Also, no school is worth sticker for BL IMO, though many people incur sticker debt and successfully pay it off + build wealth in a reasonable amount of time. So it wouldn't be crazy (amazingly like half of Columbia attends at sticker), but you'd likely have better options.

Awesome. I think we have interacted before when I asked a question about embedded conditionals. Are you currently attending a law school? I am working almost full-time so it has been hard for me to focus only on the LSAT but I am getting there.

I got a 151 diagnostic. I used Khan Academy when I did this test, and I did not do a blind review as they did not have the option to do this, but I could now as I never looked at the answers.

I could not finish the test in time, so I left many questions blank. It was rough and somewhat demoralizing! The time crunch is crazy. I think it's a good sign if your BR is higher, it means you get the concepts and have room to grow.

I will probably do a blind review for this test now, because your comment reminded me I could!

    Diagnostic 151 / RC -6 / LR -9 / LG -13 / LR -15

Awesome. I guess we all are in a similar shoes. I was keep looking at the clock as I did my test timed but I think it is more efficient to just look at the question and try to solve it as quickly as possible without spending too much time on it. If I have to spend too much time on it, I believe it is a better win to just move on to the next question instead of keeping looking at the clock just to feel intimidated that the time is ticking.

I am looking to take the LSAT sometime in the future. I know how to do the LG. I just need more practice with it to do it more efficiently. My understanding is that LSAT will no longer require LG to be a part of it starting from August 2024. I am wondering how my score will play a part in admission cycle if it does not reflect the LG because I plan on taking the LSAT after August, 2024. If you could input your thought, that would be great! (:

LSAT Zoom Study Meeting South Korea

    Hi!

My friend who went to Yonsei UIC and I are starting an online LSAT study group. He has an official score of 176 and my score fluctuates from 166-172. I am not sure if this means anything but I have a degree from Johns Hopkins. We also have another member who scores around low-170s in the PTs.

We meet at 7 pm-9 pm Korean Standard Time on Wednesday.

I have a Zoom Pro, so we can meet without interruption.

We also plan to meet offline at Gangnam station for a group study or maybe even a dinner or drinks if we gather enough people.

If you are interested, please send me a DM and I will invite you to the KakaoTalk group chat!

    Thanks! (:

I agree with Ari ^, I'm supplementing 7Sage with the 3 powerscore bibles and the Loophole and i've seen a lot of improvement. I just finished the CC apart from certain question sets that i left behind, and am starting to PT as well. (Still going through the bibles and loophole as well).

    Right thank you

I think supplementing LR can make sense because everything is fundamentally the same. 7Sage covers everything really well, but other resources can add some value through offering things up a little differently. I really like how the Trainer is organized, and Loophole has some good exercises.

For LG, I think I’d stick to just 7Sage. Powerscore’s methodology, for example, just isn’t compatible. It can’t add to 7Sage because it’s a fundamentally different approach. You should just pick one, and that one should be 7Sage. It’s still unrivaled on LG as far as I’m concerned.

For reading comprehension, you can shop around some, but it’s an awkward section where less is usually best. Approach all of the RC resources as exercises that can help you develop critical skills, just remember that exercises don’t always make for good strategy. Powerscore’s reading for structure thing is a decent little exercise to work on certain things. But it’s kinda a terrible strategy because structure isn’t really very important. So just make sure with RC resources to move on once they’ve served their purpose.

    Awesome thank you

I would recommend having one only if you are going to be

Clear about noting your takeaways… including in ways that would make sense to you without having to re-read the entire passage

Intentional about going back to it at least occasionally.

One of my biggest flaws in prep was taking all this time to keep track of my wrong answers and not actually doing anything with the information.

Some people find re-doing passages to be helpful. Personally, I didn’t have the desire or discipline to do so. Instead, I found it much easier to just keep track of general takeaways/reminders for myself that I would read before I took a timed section. By no means an RC expert, but I think the practice helped.

    Sounds good. Thank you
