Second, I would go with two. It's really two separate things in all honesty.

RC Stamina

Hey everybody,

So i'm encountering a strange phenomenon in RC. First off, I've officially succeeded in getting a -0 in an RC passage. If anyone remembers my RC scores from before, you know this is a HUGE improvement. I believe I was landing in the -15 before. Now here is the issue, since i've now been able to get -0 several times i've started trying to do multiple passages in a row to improve stamina (untimed). As the passages go on, I just seem to be getting worst and worst and worst. My first passage is a -0 and by the last one i'm right back at a bad RC person. Has anyone else had issues with stamina before? Any tips/tricks/advice for building up my tolerance (lol) for RC and maintaining my performance?

Weird Personal Statement topic

Hey everyone,

So i'm in an odd position for my PS. For the a long time I was thoroughly committed to writing about some family issues that shaped me in to the person i've become, but i've attempted writing about 18 drafts at this point. None of them felt genuine and all encompassing. Every single one had an issue. Too dramatic, too cold, what's the point? Sort of problems if you seem what I mean.

Well today, I had an interesting moment where I decided to write on a topic that's totally off the wall. I wrote an entire draft (in under an hour, while I sat in class) on finding a three week old kitten.

If any of you guys remember, I had "study cat" as my LSAT study buddy. I found him when he was three weeks old and raising him as one of the hardest things i've ever done. I've never thought more about quitting something in my life, and today I have one of the sweetest, well - mannered and healthy kittens numerous vets have ever met. So well i've been approached to help foster other orphaned kittens.

This topic encompassed everything I wanted to show case about my character and how I see the world. But it's literally kittens. Like i'm considering writing a piece about kittens to send to the world's biggest shark tank - A law school admissions board.

Am I insane?

Help!

Hey everyone,

So I just started filling out the basic material on my first law school application and one of the options was to inform which schools I plan on applying to. Is this a trick? Should I put them all on, or not? I have no idea if it's a good move communicating your interest in other schools, especially because this is my number one choice.

I went to Disney and became inspired

Hey everyone,

So I know I disappeared for awhile - don't hate me, but I'm back! After really weighing it out, i've decided to do the September exam for a couple reasons. Mainly, I genuinely believe I can get the score I want. But the anxiety came when I went to Disney World for two days (a long time planned vacation). I honestly thought I would have no motivation to study and would see a significant decrease in my score. Instead, I'm genuinely refreshed and inspired. It's like a finally have room in my brain and everything is starting to really stick. I really thought I was going to be exhausted (5 am morning till 2 am the next morning and I managed to do completely do 3 parks in one day) but instead i'm totally recharged. My LR skills seemed to have sharpened and become really reliable. So to anyone right now feeling totally burnt out - TAKE A BREAK! A full out break, where you don't think about the LSAT and do something FUN. You will not regret it.

A little LSAT inspiration post for those of us hard at work!

LSAT-itis PSA

I was diagnosed with LSAT-itis.

After being poked, prodded, and measured... I was diagnosed with LSAT-itis by my college's doctor. On and off fevers, sore throat, serious drainage, sneezing, coughing, wheezing, and general exhaustion is the just beginning of the grossness. I've never been more confused in my life. I had come in for a routine check up on Monday and had briefly mentioned to the PA that I had just taken the exam that pass weekend. So when I came in Friday after being gross for days, the doctor saw in my record I had just taken the exam. She tested me for a whole bunch of stuff that all came back negative. After a moment, she sat me down and was like, "You have LSAT-itis."

Apparently i've was her 5th LSAT kid that week! My orders were a whole weekend of bed rest, DayQuil/NyQuil, fluids and Netflix. I complied happily lol!

So, this is a PSA: You can and will get sick after you sit for this exam if you aren't careful. Make sure you are getting enough sleep, eating right and working out. Be better then me.

Love from your favorite LSAT-itis victim,

Victoria

@ that's a good idea, I dont think I will be able to find something even remotely similar to the class. It was an avant garde art class for a specific period of time from a specific country. I took a film class and animation class but it was also handwritten in class exams. All I have left from school is philosophy papers as that was my major. I think i'll just base who I'm asking on what papers I still have saved

Happy to help! Also attach your PS, sometimes they are happy with that as well.

I think you can see them on every app when you go to submit, but I've also employed a strategy of flagging every email green for fee waivers and yellow for scholarship offers.

Also, i've discovered and interesting trend. Whenever I look at a school through LSAC, I get an email within 48 hours either with info on the school and or a fee waiver. Interesting stuff kids!

Yes and no. Go ahead and explain to the professor that you don't have any writing samples from her class, but here is a piece from a similar course. You understand though if that would not work for her.

I also think you should reach out to a few more professors and see if they would be willing.

Advice on Addendum

Hey everyone, miss me?

So I know I disappeared and a few 7sagers know why, but after a lot of thought i've decided to proceed forward with my applications for the 2018 cycle. With one caveat. I'm going to attach an addendum for my LSAT scores, particularly how I score 10 points below my practice tests on the September tests.

I've NEVER been a good standardized tester. Back in the third grade when I received my first standardized test, all of my grades began to plummet. My parents made the choice to get me tested in case there was some sort of learning disorder, and the results were a first for the testers. I didn't have a learning disability at all, I just was an auditory and kinesthetic learner who didn't test well on standardized tests. Essays, short answers and written answers I nailed but anything bubbling was not enough to keep me engaged. I've learned lots of testing strategies over the years, but none of them were designed to help with the LSAT. If you followed the September LSAT Saga, it was a very stressful situation from start to finish and I'm positive that negatively DESTROYED my score.

I have no idea how to even write an addendum, let alone include most of that in an appropriate way.

Any tips?

I'm realizing I need to add an edit: This particular score was extremely low as I was in Florida during Hurricane Irma. My testing center closed down, and after financial pressures I caught a cheap flight to DC to do the test there. Not only was this my second time taking the test, I was also coping with serious family upheaval. The hurricane had flooded my grandparents home where I had to conduct an emergency rescue to get them out. They also were living with us at this point. A bit TMI but the stress was beyond normal stress.

Post LSAT... Now what?

Now that I've completed the LSAT... what do I do?

I get that I should start working on my applications and PS/LORs. I'm just completely unmotivated in all honesty. Even though I really want a good portion to be done before the score comes out incase I need to retake. Has anyone else had the post LSAT slump to try to shuffle through? Particularly with the needing to get on top of your applications?

September or December?

** Edit: This test was not blind reviewed before I graded.

Ok guys, so today was the big day.

I took my first timed PT as vowed to do to determine if I would going to test in September or December. To give an idea of my place in the CC I finished LR and LG and had just started RC. I wanted to be done with the CC but essentially life happened. Hospital, car problems, family, you name it - it happened.

So my final score is: 158

Lg - 4

LR - 8

RC - 11

LR - 5

The first LR I knew was going to be worst because I was all flustere. I also knew RC was going to be exactly that lol.

I wanted to crack 160 but that was with the idea that I would've been done with the RC CC. I have NO idea what to do. Should I post pone?

Don't Give Up!

Hi everyone,

If you've been following my struggle you will know I got pretty faint of heart recently when I took a timed LR at 30% done with the course and received -11. I just finished up the LR section of the CC (Around the mid 60% of CC) just to see if there was a difference. I got -3. A few of the questions I had seen before and I got a -3. I literally cried in the Starbucks. So the moral of the story is do not give up - YOU CAN AND WILL GET BETTER.

Also, super shout out to everyone who was super encouraging and gave great advice.

Necessary Assumption Questions

Ok, so I can see right away as i'm doing the CC that NA Questions will be the death of me.

I completely understand the theory, but i'm having a hard time applying it to pull out the question answer. When I read the stimulus i'm projecting that, "This must be the NA". Get to the answers and none of them even talk about my NA. Even when I guesstimate the right topic or area, it's still off. I have not run into this problem with any other question. While I struggled through a few, I still was able to successfully apply the theory after a little while and some practice with 90%+ accuracy. I'm genuinely missing these consistently.

Anyone have some serious tips or tricks?

When I watch the video explanation I get why it's the answer but i'm having a hard time making those inferences ahead of the explanation.

I know, i'm dramatic.

But guys i'm freaking out.

So, i'm a senior in college and my school just finished my "grad check" so that i'm set to graduate in the spring. All of a sudden they started factoring in my dual enrollment classes from high school in to my GPA. While they are Bs, they brought my gpa down .08 points, which actually brought it down a .1. As we are all prospective law students, .1 is a big deal. (Example: 2.6 to 2.5, trust me, not my GPA but you get the idea). I have not yet submitted my transcript to lsac because I caught this. Will my dual enrollment classes factor in to my lsac gpa? Because my I would LOVE to apply with my actual college GPA.

Hey-o from Hurricane Irma!

Gotta keep studying regardless so I've been working at it and for some reason Flaw questions have decided to crop up and be a problem. Anyone have some sure fire tips for them? I just did an LR section timed and got -7, with -3 being flaw (all of the flaws in the section may I add). -2 were questions I legit got wrong and the other -2 I reread the question and knew right away what I did wrong/read wrong. But -3 in flaw is a big deal.

Any tips and tricks for flaws? Favorite way to drill? Etc.

LOR - Who to turn down?

Hey everyone,

I know i'm still studying like a mad-man for the LSAT, but I want to get my ducks in a row regardless of if i'm taking the September or December. As of today i've had four LOR offers from various people and I'm not quite sure who exactly I should take since I believe the typical amount is 3. I've heard four is overkill, but please correct me if i'm wrong!

Head of my major - I took his course and was the only person to receive an A in his class. I routinely went to office hours and he had me organize review groups before exams to help those who were struggling. I have a great relationship with him and he's even offered to proof my applications and personal statements.

Congressman - I am a summer intern for this Congressman who i've had a great experience with. There is a good handful of us who are interns, but I routinely get pulled to attend exclusive meetings/summits/interviews/roundtables/etc by him. I know the LOR would be a solid one, as he has told me himself that he would love to write one for me for law school.

Senator - I was a fall intern for this Senator who has remained in touch. This was another incredible experience from start to finish. She has well offered to write me a LOR due to the extra hours I always put in and flexibility in rather crazy situations. This woman threw me a surprise birthday party to put this into perspective.

PHD Professor - This professor was an amazing class with an even more amazing professor. She was incredibly kind, informative and helpful. She always took the time to send me detailed notes on my work and offered at the end of the semester to write a LOR for getting an A in her course. She's the youngest tenure professor in my major.

I've heard academic is always a better option but I feel all four would be excellent LORs that I'm lucky to have. What should I do? Who should I turn away? Should I take them all? I also still have two more semesters to get LORs if need be and I have a couple of tentative offers as well if you guys think these aren't a good fit.

Thank you so much!

Circling Method

So I've been trying to develop a circling method for BR/time saving.

The best thing I've come up with so far is one circle for questions I'm not a 100% sure on, two circles for questions I found the answer choices difficult, and three circles for questions I plain just don't understand. I tend to finish my sections with a bit of time 2-5 minutes so I'm hoping this can focus my spare time. Does anyone else use a similar method for which questions they address first?

Hurricane Irma

So, I can't catch a break with this test.

I was finally really starting to make progress and then a hurricane decided to blow in to town. If anyone hasn't gathered yet, I live in Florida. While it's not suppose to land until next week (Monday) the whole state is in chaos. I saw two women get in to a full out fight over a case of gatorade. Moral of the story here is - i'm not going to get any studying done between now and the exam. I genuinely did not want to have to wait till December. Any Harvey people have some input? I would really appreciate it. Should I postpone? What do you think LSAC will do?

Much love, send water.

Victoria

Edit: I'm located in Northern Florida for the most part, but if this thing bounces in to the gulf I will be a direct hit. If this thing bounces up the coast, then my family will be a direct hit and I will be rushing to the coast to help evacuate starting Thursday. I'm assuming my testing center won't be majorly effected though.

The other transcript is just from my dual enrollment years, so it's only two grades. But I can't seem to find out where to find my actual LSAC GPA. Huge gap in BR and Actual Score

Hey everybody,

It just wouldn't be a week if I didn't ask a million questions. So yesterday I did prep test 54 and scored 154 flat out. I knew it was going to be a low score (rough day) but I was committed. It didn't bother me that much because I normally am around 158 and the big tank was in LG when I hit a game that my brain just could not compute to save my life. I decided to post pone my BR to today after I got some much needed sleep. My BR was 173. My highest score what so ever to date.

Now here comes the question, how do I close that 20 point gap because I would LOVE to do that. Any tips? Advice? Is drilling the way? The questions I missed in LR and RC I saw the answer almost right away for 80% of the stuff I got wrong. I could easily tell my brain had been general MUSH yesterday. I was considering doing some drilling tomorrow on the major question types I got wrong and doing a PT on Sunday. Is that a good idea?

Help your favorite-always-posting lsat kid out.

I struggled BIG time with my PS. I have this huge thing my life thats the obvious choice, but I just couldn't write it. Literally 18 different drafts and every single one came off as dramatic, pissed off or disinterested. So, I made a list of the 10 hardest things i've done in the last two years. Everything from constant car problems, a killer finals week, and raising an orphaned infant kitten.

Guess whose applying to law school with a kitten PS.

I also think you should make a list of qualities you want to exude. Who do you want them to think you are by the end. If it's passionate, quick thinking and responsible then you need to pick a personal statement topic that show cases moments where you were like that. I wanted to come off as responsible, capable and self aware. Surprisingly, my kitten story nailed every one of those moments.

Confirm action

Are you sure?
