I chose E and while I agree that C points out the major flaw in this argument, I thought E reverses the cause and the result and therefore could weaken the argument. Please help me figure out why I'm wrong!
E basically says books that probably won't sell well would more likely not go to independent stores. In other words, books that do end up in megastores already are more likely to sell better. Wouldn't that indicate that it's not the megastores that helped best-sellers sell more, but that it is because best-sellers were sold at megastores, that megastores rose up?
The only issue I can think of with this mindset is it does not account for the time. From my reasoning, I am assuming that people changed to this practice described in E in the 1990s in particular.

I can't see why A is correct. I feel A can only make sense if we phrase the last phrase like this: since people whose characteristics we admire most are those whose lives we most like.
This is because I think we can see sentences structured like "A is B" as A→B, which JY used for this last phrase (most like to live → most admire).
But if this is the case, I cannot connect the sentence using A because the argument goes like this:
P1: historical figures we find most engaging ‑m→ are not virtuous
P2: most like to live → most admire
C: most admire → are not virtuous
historical figures we find most engaging → most like to live → most admire
BUT historical figures we find most engaging ‑m→ are not virtuous
"most admire" and "are not virtuous" go off as separate branches that don't connect.
Only if we switch the SA and NA in P2 and switch those in AC A can we (barely) connect everything:
most admire → most like to live → historical figures we find most engaging → are not virtuous
= most admire → are not virtuous
Do I have major trouble with conditional reasoning? What is going on lol
P.S., I feel AC D is correct because we are drawing a conclusion about what people in general do from an argument about people's opinion on historical figures specifically. Please also enlighten me on this...
Not sure if this is an isolated incident, but my proctor interrupted me at least five times during different sections (mainly LG) asking me to adjust my camera. I would recommend talking to your proctor about camera position beforehand so that you don't get screwed over like me. 😢
Best of luck!
