Hey, I am a patent agent in a large IP firm. noobie1 is right! The field of your technical background is important. That said though, patent prosecution is not just writing patent applications. Some partners I work with still draft their own office action responses. That is still sustainable at their high billing rates. Then there is also the post-grant review (high budget work, usually overlaps with litigation). Also, there are firms who will pay for your law school too (you still have to bill at least 1300 hours or so). Several partners I worked with went to night school. I got into a T14 (maybe T10?) and weighing if I should do that or attend night school.
How is this plagiarism episode reflected in your official records? Is the deferred suspension recorded in your transcripts?
Not to hijack this thread, but I was also admitted to Harvard earlier this week. I want to thank 7sage (and gs556 for interview tips!) for the wonderful LSAT prep program. I could not have improved my LSAT enough without the excellent curriculum offered here. Thank you!!
I was at Berkeley's ASW today. The Chancellor came to address the admits, and many faculty members showed up too. A large number of current students lined outside the auditorium, and some handed out papers stating their demands to the school (e.g., for the school to fire the former dean). Overall, I thought the damage was controlled well, and the faculty and administration seem sincere in wanting to learn from this episode.
I have an international GPA (round up to 3.6), and the LSAC transcript evaluation was only "above average". I have a STEM PhD from a top US engineering school and work experience in a law firm. I also think acing the LSAT is important. I got into Berkeley with my initial LSAT score that was 50%
My LSAC account just changed to 1/4/16 as the email score release date!!!
i also have a similar question. i exhausted all the preptests (at least from 35-75, but not all of 1-34). i was able to get a perfect score for one LR section in preptests 74 and 75, but in the Oct test, i have -7 and -5 for the two sections. how can i best improve my LR before the Dec re-test? the Dec test would be my third test. i took my first LSAT in Dec 2012 and my LR was also -7 and -5. i spent a ton of time studying between april and oct, and it seems like i am still scoring at the same level. i had a jump of 6 points in my second test, but it all came from getting an almost perfect LG section (-1 in Oct '15 vs. -9 in Dec '12).
