I think this is a really bad diversity statement topic, personally. Diversity is about how a unique set of challenging or unusual circumstances enriched your world view and give you skills to become a better lawyer which isn't visible on your resume. Having unusual opinions is not experiencing unique / challenging circumstances. You have little to gain here and a lot to lose. What are these unique political opinions you have? If its something along the lines of I'm an anarchist / utilitarian / think we need a world government definitely stay away from this topic in your diversity statement, IMO.
Its totally fine to not have a diversty statement, just make your personal essay count.
