Is the experience of learning English after immigrating to the US a cliché and/or prevalent topic for a diversity statement, even with anecdotes that may reflect a unique perspective/impact?
Is it okay to use experiences/anecdotes/events that only correspond to my childhood and adolescence and are not recent?

After listening to the podcast with that admissions officer from Cardozo, I am more thinking that every writing prompt is an opportunity to show your writing skills. I wouldn’t worry about whether or not the topic is common, but instead, how you would write about it. If you can tell a unique story, even if it is a common topic, in a compelling way, go for it.
