If you are aiming at schools with a median above 166, you mostly need to consider scholarship dollars. If that's not important to you, then you might as well go for it... if it is important, don't leave money of the table if you know you have more left in the tank to up your score. A 170 in January with a 4.0 and real world experience will still be a very competitive app. Also, keep in mind that if you apply now but are registered for a future LSAT, law schools won't consider your app complete or look at it until that score is reported (I have talked to a lot of Admissions folks and they are all on the same page with this one). If you have schools to which you want to apply where your LSAT of 166 is above their 75th, you stand a quite good chance of major scholarship opportunities, so that is something to think about as well. Best of luck, be proud of that 166, awesome!
