PT6.S3.Q03 - Predator insects

Can anyone explain exactly why D is the answer. I kind of get it, but just need a brief reason why it is most definitely the answer as opposed to any of the others. Like what makes it stand out the most?

It's just not needed for the argument. Like so what if the ants spread north? It wouldn't stop the proposed effect of importing predators. All the others are required assumptions... if they didn't assume so, the argument would make no sense, for instance, if the predators wouldn't survive, why would you even bring them over?
