How did I get this wrong? Is there a way something explains this to me?

    Premise- Yet the police are still writing as many speeding tickets as ever.

    Conclusion- Therefore, the excuse about resources being tied up in fighting drug-related crime simply is not true.

    Now for assumption questions, generally, the right answer links the premise with the conclusion. So the gap here is-

    If the police is writing as many speeding tickets as before then they could not have diverted the resources.

    And answer choice, E gets closest to our pre phase and is indeed the correct answer. In order for me to help you better please share the answer choice you chose and reasoning behind it.
