Getting tired of staring at my lil macbook screen but really don't want to spend $1k++ on an iMac so I figured I could just get a cheap PC desktop and hook it up to my laptop. Refurbished iMacs are just as expensive and I'm scared of getting a used one. I obviously could just google this but I'm seeing vague info online about it.

Yes. I had the older 2012 MacBook that I used with an external monitor. External monitorrs arent OS specific.
Oh yeah, you just mean like a monitor? It’s pretty simple. You might have to get an adapter cable of some sort, depending on the monitor and your laptop. This is how we have our set up at my office, we all have Mac laptops with external monitors.
IDK why it took me so long to find the type of cable I have to buy lol got it thanks ya'll
You need a splitter vga or hdmi cable. It is not expensive. It cost no more than $10-15.

You hook male end of the cable to on the laptop and the female end to the second monitor. You can go into your control panel of Mac and select to extend the monitor as either a primary or secondary monitor.
